WoW MoP Classic Leatherworking Leveling Guide: How Many Materials Are Required?

Posted: Aug 29, 2025 Views: 18

In WoW Mists of Pandaria Classic, Leatherworking is one of several first-level professions. It allows you and your allies to craft practical leather gear (leather armor and mail) and additional enhancements, providing unique benefits.

While Leatherworking isn't as popular as other popular professions, once you are a Zen Leatherworking, you'll find it's quite lucrative.

WoW MoP Classic Leatherworking Leveling Guide: How Many Materials Are Required?

Leatherworking's Role

Leatherworking can craft leather and mail armor, including gloves, cloaks, leggings, bracers, shoulder guards, and chest guards. DPS players like Hunters and Monks have a high demand for this type of gear.

Leatherworking can also enchant leg armor, granting it armor and additional strength, agility, stamina, and dodge. After reaching Leatherworking level 575, you can enchant leg armor for additional stat bonuses, a powerful bonus unavailable to non-Leatherworking players.

Leatherworking-Only Leg Armor:

  • Draconic Leg Reinforcements: Increase Strength and Critical Strike
  • Heavy Leg Reinforcements: Increase Stamina and Dodge
  • Primal Leg Reinforcements: Increase Agility and Critical Strike

Leatherworking-Only Wrist Enchants:

  • Fur Lining - Agility: increases Agility
  • Fur Lining - Intellect: increases Intellect
  • Fur Lining - Stamina: increases Stamina
  • Fur Lining - Strength: increases Strength

Because upgrading Leatherworking profession requires increasing reputation with Golden Lotus faction, not many players choose it. Furthermore, competition for leg armor in Auction House isn't particularly fierce, making it a very popular option for leatherworking items (especially leg armor). Once you master leatherworking, you can easily earn WoW MoP Classic gold.

How To Learn Leatherworking?

Alliance and Horde players each have their own Leatherworking instructor, which can be found in their respective capital cities.

  • Alliance: Find Simon Tanner in Stormwind Old Town.
  • Horde: Find Karolek in The Drag in Orgrimmar.

How To Level Up In Leatherworking?

Like other crafting professions, you must craft items to level up. Leatherworking primarily requires leather. Skinning, on the other hand, can also harvest leather, creating a synergistic effect.

After reaching Zen, Skinning can harvest several highly valuable leathers: Mist-Touched Leather, Prismatic Scale, Magnificent Hide, and Sha-Touched Leather. These are essential materials for reaching Zen in Leatherworking. However, relying solely on harvesting materials is not recommended in the early stages, as it can be time-consuming.
