WoW Classic 20th Anniversary C'Thun Boss Guide: How To Deal With Its Skills?

A bizarre monster inspired by Cthulhu novels, C'Thun debuted in World of WarCraft as the final boss of Temple of Ahn'Qiraj.
The embodiment of Void Lord's corrupting power, sealed within Ahn'Qiraj, he was the first of Old Gods to be unleashed. He was first slain by European guild Nihilum on April 25, 2006, in Patch 1.9. this grueling boss fight captivated nearly every WoW player at the time.
Nearly 20 years later, C'Thun returns in WoW Classic 20th Anniversary. This encounter remains one of the toughest in Ahn'Qiraj raid, requiring even the best teams to expend significant items and WoW Classic 20th gold to achieve victory.
Preparation
Without further ado, This boss fight consists of two phases: Eye of C'Thun and true C'Thun. This boss fight is best led by someone, as each team member's position is crucial.
This encounter is very difficult, and besides each member fulfilling their role, preparation is essential before the fight begins.
Don't overdo it with high Nature Resistance. Just prepare a few Nature Protection Potions for specific situations.
First, be sure to have sufficient Greater Nature Protection Potions (for the inner zone and to counter Eye Beams), Flask of the Titans, Greater Mana Potions, Greater Healing Potions, Demonic Runes, and bandages. Engineering-crafted Goblin Sapper Charges and Thorium Grenades can sometimes be very effective for crowd control and multi-target handling. This may take you some WoW Classic 20th Anniversary gold, but the rewards are worth it.
The maximum team size is 40, with 2-3 tanks, 12-14 healers, and the rest as DPS. Melee DPS shouldn't be overly numerous, as the team's spread-out strategy in Phase 1 and handling tentacles in Phase 2 will reduce the margin for error.
Phase 1: Eye Of C'Thun
Eye Beam
2-second cast, 3-second cooldown. Unleashes a random Eye Beam, dealing approximately Nature damage. Eye Beam jumps to another random player within a 10-yard radius, increasing damage by 50% and transferring infinitely.
Players must be at least 10 yards apart for Eye Beam to damage only the primary target. If overlapped, it can only occur on two players.
Dark Glare
Every 45 seconds, Eye of C'Thun fixates on a single direction for a few seconds, then radiates a dark red beam of death, dealing Shadow damage to any enemy targets it touches. Dark Glare slowly rotates 180 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise, lasting approximately 40 seconds.
When Dark Glare activates, the player facing the direction Eye of C'Thun is facing immediately moves away. Everyone need to watch the direction of the red light and avoid it, and anyone who touches it will die!
Eye Tentacle
Every 45 seconds, eight Eye Tentacles will spawn and be evenly distributed around Eye of C'Thun, and Eye Tentacles can be paralyzed, stunned, and countered.
When an Eye Tentacle spawns, all players must kill the corresponding Eye Tentacle as soon as possible. If an Eye Tentacle cannot be killed immediately, use skills or grenades to interrupt Eye Tentacle's Mind Flay.
Claw Tentacle
During combat, Eye of C'Thun will continuously summon claw tentacles to attack random players, and Melee DPS will only deal minimal physical damage.
When a claw tentacle spawns, any player knocked back by it must immediately return to their original position and kill it. Surrounding DPS must assist the player in killing the claw tentacle. During Dark Glare, be aware of the claw tentacle's knockback and slowing effects.
Phase 2: C'Thun
In Phase 2, C'Thun's main body is protected by the power of Old Gods, reducing damage by 99%. The two Flesh Tentacles within C'Thun's stomach must be killed to damage the main body.
Giant Eye Tentacle
Every 60 seconds, a Giant Eye Tentacle will spawn at the feet of a random player. It has high health and continuously releases Eye Beams, but it can be stunned, interrupted, or countered.
The first Giant Eye Tentacle will spawn 30 seconds into Phase 2, coinciding with the first Eye Tentacle. It's crucial to plan your stun and interrupt chains in advance to prevent it from releasing its Eye Beams. Kill it quickly while ensuring you can interrupt it.
Giant Claw Tentacle
Every 60 seconds, a Giant Claw Tentacle will spawn at the feet of a random player. It has approximately twice the health of Giant Eye Tentacle and deals high melee physical damage. It can be stunned.
Giant Claw Tentacles will spawn immediately at the start of Phase 2, alternating with Giant Eye Tentacles. Tanks must immediately intercept and capture Giant Claw Tentacles. DPS should kill Giant Claw Tentacles immediately if they are not assigned to deal with Eye Tentacles. Use various stun-type crowd control abilities to reduce the pressure they place on tanks.
Devour
Every 10 seconds, Devour Tentacles will spawn at the feet of a random player, devouring them and teleporting them into C'Thun's maw.
If a melee DPS is devoured, it's best to step onto the black launch pad and exit immediately. Ranged DPS should be dealt with after being devoured.
Flesh Tentacle. You must teleport out around the 4-5 levels of Digestive Acid. Healers who are devoured can heal ranged DPS on the battlefield and teleport out around the 4-5 levels of Digestive Acid. A Nature Protection Potion can extend your stay.
Weakened Phase
Once both Flesh Tentacles in the inner arena are killed, C'Thun will enter a weakened state for 45 seconds. During this time, all tentacles will cease to spawn, and their damage to the main body will be significantly increased.
The swallowed player should communicate with the external commander. It is best to kill the last Flesh Tentacle after both Giant Eye Tentacle and Giant Claw Tentacle have been cleared. This allows the team to focus on the boss.
Responsibilities Of Each Class
Tank
In the second phase, promptly engage Giant Claw Tentacles and use stuns to control them.
Melee DPS
Phase 1 prioritizes Eye Tentacles, while Phase 2 assists with control (interrupting, stunning) and killing Eye/Claw Tentacles. After being swallowed, exit as quickly as possible.
Ranged DPS
Both Phase 1 and Phase 2 prioritize quickly killing all tentacles (Eye > Claw > Boss). After being swallowed into the inner arena, use Greater Nature Protection Potions to deal with Flesh Tentacles.
Healer
Focus on the main tank, the team members targeted by Eye Beam, and the team members emerging from the inner area. Once swallowed into the inner area, you can heal DPS inside.
The above summarizes the main challenges and general process of C'Thun encounter. As long as you communicate well with your team, you'll be able to defeat the boss and get rewards such as gear and WoW 20th Anniversary gold.
