The Secret Behind 5 Trillion DPS: Full Breakdown of Youga 2 Mind Control in Torchlight Infinite SS13

Category: Torchlight Infinite Posted: Aug 05, 2026 Views: 8

In Torchlight Infinite SS13 Afterlight, Mind Control has become a highly competitive choice due to its excellent map clearing ability and decent survivability. Next, I will provide a detailed analysis of a popular Mind Control build centered around Youga 2 - from hero selection logic and equipment combinations to Slate crafting, dissecting everything behind this build that breaks through 5 trillion DPS.

Hero Selection: Yuga 2 vs Thea 3

The Secret Behind 5 Trillion DPS: Full Breakdown of Youga 2 Mind Control in Torchlight Infinite SS13

Mind Control gameplay in SS13 has two mainstream hero choices: Yuga 2 and Thea 3. Both are highly similar in equipment selection, with equipment largely interchangeable. The core difference lies in:

  • Thea 3: Possesses a built-in explosion effect and instant healing ability. The Blessing mechanism automatically stacks and converts into Blasphemer layers, each providing 15% additional corruption damage. She automatically regenerates energy shield, health, and mana upon killing enemies affected by Blasphemer, providing excellent sustain.
  • Youga 2: The hero's traits revolve around Twisted Spacetime, with the core mechanic being Recording DoT, thus requiring a focus on stacking Skill Factor Ratio. Unlike Thea 3, it lacks a built-in regeneration mechanism, necessitating alternative methods to address energy shield regeneration.

If you prioritize a smooth progression, Thea 3 is an excellent choice; if you prioritize survivability, Yuga 2 offers equally impressive damage potential and gameplay feel. While this article focuses on Youga 2, Thea 3 players can still refer to it.

Core Gear

In Torchlight Infinite, Mind Control-related builds primarily focus on maximizing spell damage and energy shield, with a high dependence on affixes.

Gloves: Wings of Light

The gloves are the core of this build's damage-boosting leap. Its core mechanism is: increasing Intimidation effect by 20-30%; when an enemy is in an Intimidated state, they will suffer an additional 13-17% Spell and Ailment Damage for each control effect they receive, stacking up to 6 times.

Wings of Light also provides random control immunity affixes (such as immunity to slow, immunity to freeze, etc.), essentially giving you immunity affixes without spending money, which is very friendly when budget is limited.

Helmet: Cold Breath

This helmet largely solves the energy shield recovery problem in Youga 2. While increasing maximum mana, it also converts 80-100% of maximum mana into an energy shield, reaching a maximum of 1300-1500. It also provides an additional 30-40% spell damage when mana is not at full.

Weapon: Dark Gaze Scepter

The base stats provide critical strike chance and attack speed. In addition, we've upgraded all 5 affixes except for +3 Spell Skill Level to T0, significantly improving the weapon's finishing power. However, we'll be dual-wielding this scepter, meaning we'll need to upgrade 10 affixes - which requires a significant amount of Flame Elementium.

If you don't want to spend a lot of time farming in-game, you can buy Torchlight Infinite Flame Elementium from IGGM.com to directly upgrade all affixes and obtain two top-tier Dark Gaze Scepters.

Boots: Valerie's Night Stroll

By stacking Blur Rating, Blur is converted into additional DoTs. The biggest problem with Mind Control is the reduced movement speed during channeling, and Valerie's Night Stroll's fixed movement speed effectively solves this problem, ensuring smooth map traversal.

Kismet Configuration

As mentioned above, to maximize the effectiveness of Wings of Light, two issues need to be addressed simultaneously: applying Intimidation and applying 6 control effects.

Intimidation Source: Tiger's Roar

Tiger's Roar provides an intimidation effect on hit. Since Mind Control itself cannot apply hit effects, it relies on the skills Shackles of Malice or Corrosion Focus to trigger them.

Six Control Effects: Bounded Holy Maiden

Bounded Holy Maiden's effect is: it no longer applies Ignite, Numbed, Wilt, and Trauma, but applies Paralysis, Blind, Weaken, Slow, Taunt, and Frostbite on hit - exactly six control effects. The cost is a 60% reduction in crowd control effects, but this is completely acceptable compared to the damage increase to Wings of Light.

Slate Configuration and Crafting

In late-game builds of Torchlight Infinite SS13,  Slate configuration often determines the character's final potential, and Mind Control Youga 2 is no exception.

Torchlight Infinite SS13 Youga 2 Mind Control Slate Configuration

Pedigree of Gods

For Youga 2 Mind Control, the combination of Barrier Radiance and Forbidden Power is recommended.

Barrier Radiance prevents the energy shield from being interrupted by damage at the start of its charge and increases the charge rate by 50%. Combined with the affix that allows the energy shield to start charging immediately when low, this ensures Yuga 2 can reliably recover ES during sustained combat. Forbidden Power is chosen primarily for its 35% bonus corruption damage.

Fallen Starlight

Fallen Starlight is a crucial slate in this Yuga 2 build, responsible for enhancing the defensive rotation. The recommended core affix combination is: +Skill Level at the bottom, paired with an affix that grants 1 stack of Tenacity Blessing with each block.

Since this build has a full Block Ratio, in actual combat, successfully blocking an attack reliably triggers Tenacity Blessing. Combined with the additional Blessing gain from Nether King, each block grants even more stacks, allowing the character to quickly reach 4 stacks of Tenacity Blessing in a short time.

Crafted Slate

The core of crafting Crafted Slate is prioritizing obtaining +Spell Skill Level affix at the bottom, then utilizing the duplication mechanics of Sparks of Moth Fire and When Sparks Set the Prairie Ablaze to extend high-quality bottom affixes to other positions.

It's recommended to use Goddess of Knowledge Divinity Pack for affix crafting. The probability of obtaining Spell Skill Level on the first attempt at a bottom affix is approximately 20%. Once the bottom affix is determined, the pool of middle affixes decreases from 5 to 4, thus increasing the probability of obtaining Focus Blessing to 25%.

In short, through proper equipment, Kismet, and Slate combinations, this Mind Control Youga 2 build balances map clearing efficiency, combat feel, and an extremely high damage ceiling, making it a powerful build well worth trying in Torchlight Infinite SS13 Afterlight.
