NBA 2K27 Pre-Order Editions Breakdown | Best Version for MyCAREER and MyTEAM Players
Category: NBA 2K27 Posted: Aug 01, 2026 Views: 11
NBA 2K27 is only one month away. More precisely, the game will enter early access on August 28, while players who choose Standard Edition will have to wait until September 4. NBA 2K27 comes in three different edition ranging from $70 to $150.
Players once again have to decide which version to choose. Ultra Edition naturally includes more content, but are those extra bonuses really worth the additional cost? How should players select the right edition based on their own needs?

Three Different Editions
- Standard Edition ($69.99): Featuring Victor Wembanyama as the cover athlete, and does not include early access.
- Deluxe Edition ($99.99): Featuring Caitlin Clark as the cover athlete, and includes early access starting on August 28.
- Ultra Edition ($149.99): Featuring Derrick Rose as the cover athlete, and also includes early access starting on August 28.
It is worth noting that the official team provides a Loyalty Discount for players who purchase Ultra Edition. Simply put, if you played NBA 2K26 before and purchase NBA 2K27 Ultra Edition using the same platform account, you can receive a 10% discount, reducing the cost to $135.
Additional Content
Pre-ordering any edition of NBA 2K27 grants a 10,000 VC pre-order bonus, and this reward is identical across all three editions.
Basic Additional Content
Standard Edition includes no extra bonuses. At $69.99, you only receive the base game and the 10,000 VC pre-order reward, without the 7-day early access period. According to the official conversion rate, 10,000 VC is approximately worth $4. Therefore, pre-ordering Standard Edition is equivalent to receiving around $74 worth of content.
As a result, when considering the value of additional content, the main comparison is between Deluxe Edition and Ultra Edition.
Premium Additional Content
Deluxe Edition ($99.99):
- Provides an additional 100,000 VC.
- Includes 7-day early access.
Ultra Edition ($149.99):
- Provides 135,000 VC.
- Includes 7-day early access.
- Includes Season 1 Pro Pass, as well as Summer Passes for Seasons 7-9.
This Season Pass combination is very similar to NBA 2K26. If you are a player who purchases Pro Pass every season, Ultra Edition may offer more value. This means that throughout the nine seasons released during NBA 2K27’s lifecycle, you can access four seasons of Pro Pass content without needing to purchase them separately.
MyCAREER Content
For players who mainly focus on MyCAREER, Deluxe Edition and Standard Edition may provide better value compared to Ultra Edition. Let’s look at the specific content available in each version:
Deluxe Edition ($99.99) provides:
- 25x6 Skill Boosts, meaning 25 boosts for each skill category.
- 25x3 Gatorade Boosts, meaning 25 boosts for each Gatorade category.
- One Victor Wembanyama jersey and one Caitlin Clark jersey.
Ultra Edition ($149.99) includes everything from Deluxe Edition in terms of MyCAREER content, but only adds one extra item: Roses Oversized Hoodie.
If you are not interested in Season Passes and never purchase them, paying an additional $50 just for a virtual hoodie is clearly not worthwhile. In that case, Deluxe Edition or even Standard Edition is a better choice.
MyTEAM Content
For players who mainly play MyTEAM, the situation is different. Standard Edition includes no MyTEAM content, while both Deluxe Edition and Ultra Edition include the following basic rewards:
- Full '27 Series 1 Team Selection
- Triple Threat Park Free Agent Pack
- 5x '27 Series 1 Packs
- 2-hour MyTEAM 2XP Coin
The only difference between the two editions in terms of MyTEAM content is that Ultra Edition allows players to obtain an NBA 2K27 Ultra Edition MyTEAM player card through the exchange system.
This guarantees a player card with a 98 OVR rating in December and another Invincible Series player card in May 2027.
MyTEAM players are not given a complete roster instantly, and building a competitive squad still requires plenty of resources. You can pre-order NBA 2K27 MT from IGGM to further customize your team.
Which Edition Should You Choose?
Is Ultra Edition Worth It?
If Loyalty Discount is included, Ultra Edition appears to offer the best value. However, most of its additional content has little practical impact for the average player, especially Season 7, Season 8, and Season 9 Passes.
Since the game cycle lasts an entire year, it is impossible to know whether you will still be actively playing at that point. More importantly, Ultra Edition only provides Pro Pass, not Hall of Fame Pass. If you want access to the highest-tier Season Pass rewards, Ultra Edition alone is still not enough.
After removing card packs, jerseys, boost items, and other filler content, the true core value players usually care about, including VC, early access, and Season 1 Pass, is only around $120 in total. This makes Ultra Edition difficult to justify.
Base on Your Needs
If you only want to experience NBA 2K27’s MyNBA mode or other offline content without chasing competitive rankings or rapid progression, Standard Edition is completely sufficient. It offers the best value because you do not need to pay extra for content you will not use.
If you want to gain a competitive advantage, one week of early access can be extremely important. It allows you to learn the gameplay mechanics earlier and build resources ahead of others. At the same time, 100,000 VC can provide a significant boost for early roster development or player progression. In this case, Deluxe Edition is the better choice.
Unless you are a dedicated Derrick Rose fan, or you are certain that you will continue playing throughout the entire game cycle and specifically want Season 7–9 Pass content, Ultra Edition is not recommended. From a practical value perspective, it may actually be the least efficient option.
That concludes the recommendation for the 3 NBA 2K27 editions. If you are only interested in the game but are not in a hurry, waiting until after release when discounts become available is an even more economical choice.
