  Audio design is crucial for extraction games because it serves as one of the most important ways for players to gather information. In this area, Mistfall Hunter performs exceptionally well. The sound effects for attacks and spells feel satisfying and add a strong sense of immersion to combat.

  While exploring, you can clearly hear the footsteps of nearby enemies or the sounds of combat, which heightens the tension and creates a constant sense of pressure.

  Combat System

  The combat system, or more specifically the class system, is arguably the strongest part of Mistfall Hunter. Character movement and skill feedback both feel remarkably solid. If the extraction component were removed, the remaining content could still form the foundation of a respectable ARPG.

  Mistfall Hunter aims to combine fast-paced third-person action RPG combat with the tension and excitement of extraction gameplay. The game offers 6 classes, each with its own unique combat style.

  In addition, you can further strengthen your character through gear sets, different buffs, and special bonuses. Combined with interchangeable skills and a talent tree that can modify skill effects, this gives every class a large number of different specialization and gameplay paths.

  The combat system revolves around Stamina and Cooldowns, emphasizing precise combo timing and perfectly timed dodges. A well-executed combo or a perfectly timed dodge can often determine whether you return fully loaded or lose everything you were carrying.

  Compared with taking potshots and ambushing players in Escape from Tarkov, directly confronting and defeating other players in Mistfall Hunter can provide a much stronger adrenaline rush and a greater sense of excitement. This is one of the game's advantages.

  PVE

  Although other players are your biggest threat in Mistfall Hunter, PvE side of the game is actually quite solid.

  The game includes regular enemies, elite enemies, boss-level opponents, and world bosses that appear later in a map. Although the two available maps offer a limited variety of enemy types, different enemies have distinct attack patterns and combinations of abilities, creating sufficiently varied challenges.

  If you accidentally attract other monsters while fighting another player, the enemy aggro and who it focuses on can often determine the outcome of the battle.

  Some players are very interested in a dedicated PvE mode. The official roadmap does include plans for a PvE-only mode, but for now, the game only supports PvPvE gameplay.

  

  Bad

  Of course, if Mistfall Hunter were flawless, it would not have received so much negative feedback. The game does have some significant shortcomings, but most of them are temporary issues that can potentially be addressed through continued updates.

  Optimization

  A large number of players on Mistfall Hunter Steam discussion forums have reported severe frame-rate drops, stuttering, and even crashes. Some players have described situations where both they and their friends were using high-end machines, yet their frame rates still dropped dramatically.

  Others found the tutorial area already so stuttery that the game became difficult to control. There have also been reports of players facing a 300+ player queue at launch, only to experience a crash after entering the game and then being unable to submit a bug report.

  Although optimization problems at launch have become increasingly common in recent years, players still find it difficult to forgive an experience this poor. As a result, many players have formed a very negative first impression of the game.

  The official team has only made initial progress in addressing loading stutters so far, while issues involving latency and unstable frame rates still remain. These problems may require additional patches and more servers before they can be properly resolved.

  Loot Economy

  This is a deeper system-level problem that cannot be fixed with just a few patches. Mistfall Hunter does not handle the balance between looting and trading particularly well. For most of the time, the player's main choice is simply to sell everything for Mistfall Hunter gold and then acquire the recommended loadout.

  Compared with the sophisticated economic systems found in Escape from Tarkov or Delta Force: Hawk Ops, the difference is obvious. The official team will need to make substantial changes to the loot system.

  Class Balance

  Mistfall Hunter's class balance is currently quite poor. While some classes become extremely strong in the late game, a class such as Shadowstrix is almost too complete. It combines high mobility with high burst damage, allowing it to both fight effectively and escape with ease.

  Even landing successful hits on Shadowstrix does not necessarily mean you can kill it. Although it cannot exactly be described as a tank, Shadowstrix is far from fragile, which makes the class excessively powerful.

  Meanwhile, melee classes such as Mercenary and Wither Knight can easily be kited by ranged players in PvP and have very few effective ways to respond. These issues will also need to be addressed.

  Two-Player Mode

  Just like Elden Ring Nightreign when it first launched, Mistfall Hunter currently only offers solo and three-player modes. It does not support two-player parties, and the official team has no current plans to add a duo mode.

  What is somewhat strange is that the developers seem to have implicitly decided that solo and three-player modes are the best options while overlooking the large number of players who want a two-player mode. Many players have already requested a duo mode, so perhaps the official team will eventually reconsider.

  Mistfall Hunter offers ARPG fans an extraction experience built around PvPvE gameplay, but it does not introduce groundbreaking innovation to the genre or bring an entirely new set of mechanics. It is still worth trying if you are an ARPG player or simply want to see how an extraction game based on third-person action RPG combat can work. If you have no interest in extraction-based looter games to begin with, however, Mistfall Hunter will probably have a hard time changing your mind.

  This ensures that when you transition into the more dangerous, gear-intensive endgame, you have the resources ready to consume for character upgrades and can handle challenges with ease.

  Undoubtedly, regardless of which map you explore, higher difficulty settings yield richer rewards; farming on Cataclysm difficulty is the ideal choice.

  Focusing on Solo PvE

  Mistfall Hunter is a PvPvE game that supports squads of up to three players. However, if your goal is to focus on farming Mistfall Hunter gold at high difficulty levels, venturing out solo, while avoiding PvP conflicts whenever possible, is the better approach.

  This is primarily because the main sources of Gyldenblod are PvE encounters and missions. Grouping up significantly increases the likelihood of being spotted by other human players, making it harder to avoid unnecessary PvP skirmishes.

  Shadowstrix is the ideal class

  While you can technically play any class, Shadowstrix is the best choice if you want to farm resources on high-difficulty maps while minimizing the risk of detection.

  This class boasts exceptional stealth and mobility, allowing you to quickly evade both PvP and PvE threats. Combined with its massive burst damage, it stands out as a formidable option for solo play.

  Of course, Shadowstrix isn't without flaws; its lower base health and armor make it vulnerable to being overwhelmed and killed. Additionally, some skills have very long cooldowns, requiring precise timing for their use.

  Fortunately, you can mitigate these weaknesses by carefully selecting your gear, skills, and talents to craft a cohesive build, something we will explore in greater detail later.

  Using the right Tavern Wine

  In Mistfall Hunter, Tavern Wine, also known as Victory Wine, is a consumable item that provides buffs. Drinking it before combat grants a brief but highly beneficial boost to your stats.

  These buff items do not drop during combat; instead, they are part of the consumable system managed at your camp. Initially, you have access to free wine; as your camp upgrades, you will unlock Premium Brews that offer superior buffs.

  If you have unlocked the premium wine options, choose either War Blood or God's Brew. Both allow you to allocate more points to your attributes.

  It is recommended to invest two points into Aegis to reach Level 5 bonus threshold, while also putting one point into Deft and Valor, and two points into Fervor.

  With God's Brew, you will even have two extra points available to allocate according to your personal preference.

  Talent tree setup

  As your Mistfall Hunter levels up, you gain more points to allocate within the talent tree. Note that each class features a unique talent tree.

  For Shadowstrix players aiming to improve survivability and farming efficiency on Cataclysm difficulty, the first priority is unlocking Sleight of Hand. This talent allows you to open doors and pick up items while stealthed without breaking concealment.

  This means you can loot freely without revealing your position, whether facing PvP or PvE enemies.

  We also recommend investing one point in Monster Hunter talent. While it boosts PvE damage, it slightly reduces your PvP advantage, though PvP is not the focus of this farming guide.

  If you do intend to engage in PvP, you can move this point elsewhere; however, keeping it is advisable, as the extra damage helps you handle dangerous PvE encounters, such as Winter Trials.

  As for the remaining six talent points, if you have mastered Shadowstrix playstyle, feel free to allocate them based on personal preference. Otherwise, invest two points into Crow Storm.

  This enhances Crow Storm with a larger AoE radius and a stun effect. It boosts survivability, for instance, if you are being pursued, you can cast Crow Storm to stun enemies and create a barrier.

  Next, Unstoppable talent grants you Super Armor while using Spinning Slash with Dual Blades. Additionally, Stance Recovery helps minimize the cooldown of your stealth abilities.

  Lightweight allows for animation canceling, meaning you can dodge at any moment, even while an attack animation is in progress, which is highly beneficial when facing large monsters in PvE combat.

  If you have spare points, consider investing in Wound Buildup. This skill applies a stacking effect when you hit enemies with dual-blade attacks; once ten stacks accumulate, they detonate to deal physical damage. However, unlike the previously mentioned talents, this is not strictly necessary.

  

  Make smart use of tactical items

  If you have accumulated a significant amount of gold through farming, don't hesitate to consume it on reliable tactical items to aid you during dangerous solo Cataclysm farming runs.

  For instance, Spellbound Key can instantly open or close interactive doors and chests when thrown at them. Its cooldown is even shorter in solo mode.

  Silence Dust can further speed up the opening and closing of doors, a tactic that works wonders when you are kiting enemies to maintain distance.

  Legendary-tier Soul of Return allows you to instantly teleport back to camp without having to face remaining threats. Given its extreme rarity, however, it is not essential, merely a nice-to-have bonus.

  Specific farming routes

  While the points above cover the preparations needed for safe and efficient Cataclysm farming, you also need a solid route once you spawn into the map.

  Take Brindergard map as an example. If your spawn point is close to an Elite Quest, make every effort to secure it; beyond a generous Gyldenblod payout, these quests have a high chance of dropping Legendary or even Holy-tier gear.

  Don't worry if you miss out on an Elite Quest, though. Simply observe the nearby objectives and plan a route to complete them one by one based on their locations.

  If you are confident in your skills, you might also try tackling combat encounters that reward purple chests. In solo mode, you get to keep all the loot for yourself.
