EA FC 27 New Technologies Roundup | Can Gameplay Finally Match the Visuals?

Category: FC 27 Posted: Jul 03, 2026 Views: 14

EA FC 27 is set to release as scheduled this September, but with a massive cluster of major titles also landing in the same month of 2027, the game will face unprecedented pressure. For many, FC 26 felt little more than a large-scale patch for FC 25, and if FC 27 follows the same pattern, it will struggle to break out of September's crowded pack.

The good news is that the developer may be brewing a significant overhaul. Many fans believe this could be the biggest leap in football gaming in recent years, and this time the optimism is likely not without foundation, as a host of new technologies are set to be deployed in EA FC 27.

EA FC 27 New Technologies Roundup | Can Gameplay Finally Match the Visuals?

TRACAB Technology

TRACAB Technology is a motion-capture system that could fundamentally transform the football game. The company behind it was acquired in 2025 by the parent company of EA FC franchise.

TRACAB Technology can directly capture real player movements from live broadcast footage of actual matches and instantly translate them into in-game animations for EA FC.

This is no mere theory; during last season's La Liga finale, the studio demonstrated it live using Real Madrid's match broadcast. At present, the technology is already used in Bundesliga and Champions League for offside analysis and tactical interpretation.

Its deeper significance lies in how it affects game animations. Currently, one of the major criticisms of EA FC series is that too many players feel the same on the pitch. Although the official has introduced playstyles, different body types, and unique movement patterns, these measures have not gone far enough.

With TRACAB Technology, however, the developer can precisely capture the shooting, dribbling, and running styles of every player across various leagues and replicate them in the game.

Each player would then no longer be just a set of stats on a card, but would possess a distinctive movement identity. The studio has been heavily promoting this technology, so it clearly does not intend to leave it unused; FIFA 27 stands a strong chance of being the first major showcase of its power.

Dynamic Weather

Dynamic Weather was already featured in FC 26 and FC 25, but its implementation in FUT 27 differs. In the previous entries, weather conditions had to be set before a match and remained unchanged throughout. In the new game, weather can shift dynamically during play; for example, a sunny start may give way to dark clouds and then develop into a downpour or blizzard.

Moreover, in earlier versions, weather effects were largely visual and atmospheric, with little real impact on the match itself. The new dynamic system will tangibly affect player movement, ball control, and other aspects, forcing players to adjust their tactics according to the conditions.

In addition, FC 27's new open-world mode, The Grounds, will also feature dynamic weather and seasonal changes. Along with dynamic weather, the game may introduce richer pre-match rituals and immersive storytelling. This technology is also expected to be applied simultaneously in Madden NFL 27.

DLSS 5

Another controversial topic is AI graphics technology. Nvidia has released its latest DLSS 5 technology and demonstrated its effects in next-generation titles from the developer. With this setting enabled, visuals such as players, turf, crowds, and overall performance are driven and enhanced in real time by AI.

However, there are opposing voices who argue that AI should not be used to tamper with the artistic integrity of game graphics, as it would undermine the pure aesthetics of handcrafted work. While many players still dislike AI, it is undeniable that AI wave has arrived and is unstoppable.

If AI can make player faces more realistic, stadium atmospheres more vivid, and performance smoother, then offering it as an optional feature would be a boon for those seeking the ultimate visual experience. Judging from the stunning visuals shown in College Football 27 trailer, EA FC 27's graphical quality should be equally impressive.

That said, not all platform players will be able to enjoy these features. PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S will receive the full suite of new features including HyperMotionV and DLSS 5.

Switch 2 version of FIFA 27 will see slight reductions, though overall the difference will not be huge. To ensure smooth performance on Switch 1, the visuals will be simplified, and HyperMotionV as well as the full Frostbite engine will not be supported.

AI Upgrades

Nevertheless, more important than any visual enhancement is always the gameplay itself. Even if graphics are nearly indistinguishable from reality, it means nothing if the on-pitch action remains clumsy, repetitive, and frustrating.

No one complains about graphics being too good, but when you are trailing late in a match and your defender produces a foolish animation like a spectator, you are bound to lose your temper.

It is said that the developer has also upgraded player AI in FC 27, making off-the-ball movement and positioning much smarter.

They have significantly weakened AI-assisted defending: automatic tackles have been removed, and both teammate cover and automatic pressing in front of the penalty area will be reduced, so defense will rely more on the player's manual control.

Dynamic Commentary

In FIFA 26, having already obtained commentary licenses, the studio used AI to clone commentators' voices in order to generate pronunciations for a vast number of player names. FC 27 may take this a step further.

The commentators in EA FC 27 will deliver more dynamic reactions based on the player's specific performances, form, and achievements in career modes. A Turkish commentator for the developer recently revealed that they have already completed five hours of recording for FUT 27.

July will mark the peak period for EA FC 27 rumours, and the studio is expected to gradually release official trailers, promotional videos, and more details on game modes. This will give us a chance to see how these new technologies perform.

With the help of these new technologies, the in-game players will more closely resemble their real-life counterparts, making player cards for stars like Mbappé and Messi even more valuable for collectors. You can pre-order FC 27 coins at IGGM, ensuring you can acquire these player cards and study their movements the moment the game launches in September.
