ARC Raiders Latest Three-Tier Anti-Cheat Plan: Repentance or Permanent Ban?

Since its release, cheating in ARC Raiders has been rampant. From initial auto-aiming headshots to later invincibility modes that prevented damage, and even self-resurrection cheaters, all of these severely damage the gaming experience for normal players. Imagine being diligently exploring the map and collecting materials when suddenly an opponent kills you from an obviously abnormal range - wouldn't that be frustrating?
Then came the three-tiered anti-cheat plan!
Worse still, ARC Raiders has a strict penalty system. Once you die, all your items, whether rare mushrooms or epic blueprints, are scattered everywhere, and you can only watch helplessly as these cheaters loot all your spoils. This is probably why so many players despise cheaters.

Despite the rampant cheating problem, the developers haven't implemented any further substantial penalties, offering no account bans at most, only a one-month suspension. These so-called anti-cheat measures did indeed cause widespread dissatisfaction among players, who claimed they would ruin the game!
However, things took a turn for the better after some well-known gaming bloggers spoke out. They repeatedly exposed these cheaters and severely criticized the loopholes in ARC Raiders' anti-cheat mechanism. In response, the studio finally issued a new anti-cheat policy:
The latest cheating penalties will be implemented progressively, divided into three phases: an initial 30-day ban, increasing to 60 days for a second offense, and a permanent ban for the third.
However, most players seem unconvinced by this clear measure of banning repeated cheating, feeling it's not strict enough.
Don't give them a chance, just ban them immediately!
Most players believe that cheating undermines the game rules and experience. For the first two instances of cheating, the developers only imposed a 30-60 day ban. Such a low-cost punishment is insufficient to deter cheaters and may even allow them to exploit loopholes - cheating twice to obtain desired resources, then quitting and becoming law-abiding citizens.
Short-term bans give cheaters ample time to operate, which is undoubtedly a disaster for law-abiding players at the same time. Normal players are forced to watch their hard-earned ARC Raiders blueprints, coins, weapons, and other resources be picked up by cheaters, powerless to remedy or fight back. Their hard work is ultimately benefiting others; such a tragedy is unacceptable.
PvP battles greatly enhance the user experience. The thrilling and exciting combat provides enjoyment. However, the emergence of cheating behaviors, such as invincibility modes that prevent damage or automatic respawns, significantly diminishes the gaming experience and interest of normal players.
When the gaming experience for players who follow the rules deteriorates, ARC Raiders' reputation will naturally suffer significantly. Is a game rife with cheaters even worth playing? The answer is obvious. ARC Raiders is currently in a critical development stage, and there are many PvP games available. If the studio doesn't promptly curb the rampant cheating, it could lead to a significant loss of players, a situation many similar games are currently experiencing.
Some players argue that cheating should result in a permanent ban after just one offense. This punishment model is not only responsible to non-cheaters but also to ARC Raiders itself. Giving cheaters a chance to reform is wasting other players' trust and tolerance.
Debate: One-time ban?
Referring to other PvP games, such as Battlefield 6, which claims to employ a "zero-tolerance" system, severely punishing cheating, Marvel Rivals once banned a cheater for 100 years. However, most game developers state that "cheating may result in a permanent ban," but the specific ban rules and the number of bans are vague and lack precise guidance.
These plans raise questions. Without clear explanations of the ban rules and the number of bans, can these so-called "bans" truly eliminate cheating? Can they accurately guarantee the rights and gaming experience of legitimate players?
This is the most controversial aspect of anti-cheating plans: on the one hand, most players abhor cheating and hope developers will use the most direct and simple method to prevent it; on the other hand, cheating systems still have errors in identifying cheating behavior, and may mistakenly identify legitimate players' actions as cheating. Banning players without offering an appeal is unfair to those who were wrongly accused.
Regardless of which method developers ultimately choose, they all hope to guarantee the gaming experience and legal rights of legitimate players.
