ARC Raiders Trailblazer vs. Matriarch | How to Complete this Test?

Besides directly shooting with firearms, you can also acquire and throw grenades or other explosives with different effects in ARC Raiders to weaken enemies, which is especially effective against large ARC enemies or groups of real players.
Currently, there are over 30 types of grenades available in ARC Raiders, which can be broadly divided into two categories: lethal and utility grenades with other effects.
Notably, when Trailblazer grenade was added to the game in Update 1.2.0, a new ARC robot, Matriarch, was also added simultaneously.
Have you ever wondered or tested how many Trailblazer grenades and how long it would take to defeat a Matriarch using only this grenade? While this isn't a mandatory task, it's certainly interesting, isn't it?
Based on this, we will now introduce the preparations needed to complete this test, as well as the final test results.

How to obtain Trailblazer?
This grenade releases flammable gas along its trajectory, causing a chain reaction of explosions to damage enemies. You can exchange one for 1600 ARC Raiders coins after finding the mechanic Apollo, or you can farm or craft it through other means.
How to craft it?
First, you need to find Trailblazer Blueprint. Although the drop rate of this blueprint is low, according to player feedback, the chances are higher when participating in Night Raid mode on Stella Montis map.
Then you need to collect 1 Synthesized Fuel and 1 Explosive Compound to craft 1 Trailblazer at Explosives Station 3. To save time, it's best to collect enough materials to craft multiple grenades at once.
Both materials can be obtained directly through scavenging or trading with NPCs. Or, if you have enough lower-level materials, you can craft Explosive Compound yourself in the workshop, with the following requirements (no blueprint needed):
- 2x Crude Explosives
- 2x Oil
- At Refiner 2
Staking Our Claim Event
Although this limited-time event ended on December 8th, it was one way to directly obtain Trailblazer. It allowed you to earn XP by participating in the event's battles, earning 1 Merit for every 100 XP, and unlocking Trailblazer required 1350 Merits.
Based on this, we can reasonably speculate that ARC Raiders may hold more similar limited-time events in the future, and even if the reward isn't Trailblazer, it will be other rare items.
What is Matriarch?
After mastering the method of crafting Trailblazer, you also need to have a sufficient understanding of Matriarch, the enemy representative in this test.
This enemy only appears in the limited-time map condition of the same name. It is massive and can attack you by firing rockets and other projectiles, or by summoning small ARC robots. It also has an indestructible energy shield.
We usually recommend completing Matriarch encounter in a team, prioritizing attacking its facial armor to expose its core, allowing you to concentrate fire on its weak point.
If Matriarch raises its energy shield, do not waste ammunition firing at it, as it is indestructible. Instead, wait for the shield to disappear, or penetrate the shield to get closer to the enemy and then shoot its core. The loot you can obtain after killing this enemy mainly includes:
- ARC Alloy
- ARC Circuitry
- ARC Performance Steel
- Advanced ARC Powercell
- ARC Flex Rubber
- ARC Motion Core
- ARC Synthetic Resin
- ARC Thermo Lining
- Magnetic Accelerator
- Matriarch Reactor
Trailblazer vs. Matriarch
After Matriarch map condition appears, you can travel to the map and search for Matriarch enemy.
This time, we use Spaceport map as the example. After the enemy appears, first enter the underground area of the launch tower, then lure the enemy to stick its head in and throw Trailblazer inside.
To do this, you need to use grenades and other weapons to attract Matriarch's attention through simple shooting and explosions, ideally damaging its front armor in the process.
During this time, Matriarch may fire Gas Mortars and summon reinforcements; you must overcome these obstacles. If you take damage, be sure to use medical kits promptly.
If everything goes smoothly, it will take about 10 minutes to lure Matriarch to the target location. Then, throw all Trailblazers you have until you eliminate Matriarch!
After the battle, you can expect to receive at least 65,000 XP and other loot dropped by Matriarch. For a battle that takes about ten minutes, this is an excellent result.
Summary
Although we used other weapons to lure Matriarch, overall, the kill was primarily accomplished with Trailblazer. The only factor to worry about is that other players might target your resources or try to steal your loot during the process.
Honestly, in a PvPvE game like ARC Raiders, this kind of possibility is unavoidable. The only way to reduce the chance of being harassed is to just carry the most basic gear besides Trailblazer.
While this will cause you to consume more time luring Matriarch, it can prevent surprise attacks or robberies.
Also, keep in mind that given Matriarch's dangerous nature, don't let your guard down after throwing all your Trailblazers. You must confirm that the enemy is dead and has started dropping loot before you can celebrate!
That's all the information we have for you this time. While collecting loot and completing expeditions are the main gameplay elements of ARC Raiders, it's also fun to occasionally try out interesting tests like this! If you have the time, you can try it yourself!
