ARC Raiders Cheating Problems and Developer's Response | Common Hacks and Exploits are Expected to be Resolved

The pursuit of easy gains and opportunistic tactics by some unscrupulous players has led to the presence of cheaters in most games, and this problem is particularly severe in games like ARC Raiders, which feature shooting and combat elements.
It must be said that it is currently very difficult to permanently ban all cheaters, but the problem with ARC Raiders is that the developers have not taken timely and effective countermeasures, leading to increasing disappointment among players.
Fortunately, on January 9th, ARC Raiders developers finally gave a positive response, stating that they would be introducing measures to address the issue.
Based on this, we will analyze the specific cheating behaviors currently present in the game to speculate on what methods ARC Raiders might provide in the future to improve the situation.

Common ARC Raiders cheating behaviors
Cheating behaviors are based on the game's main gameplay, so in ARC Raiders, a shooting game focused on loot and extraction, enhancing oneself through cheating to plunder others is the most common practice.
More specifically, common cheating methods in ARC Raiders include:
- Using aimbots and wallhacks to hide oneself and accurately target others.
- Exploiting glitches to hide inside walls, becoming immune to damage while increasing the efficiency of killing others.
- Turning semi-automatic weapons into fully automatic weapons to increase weapon DPS.
- Hiding in already closed extraction points to better ambush other players.
If you think these behaviors are already outrageous, then unfortunately, these are not all, and cheating techniques are constantly improving. For example, aimbots and wallhacks have become increasingly difficult to detect with the naked eye.
When are there more cheaters?
ARC Raiders' PvPvE gameplay and matchmaking system mean that if you are a casual player who prefers PvE, you are more likely to be matched with similar players, significantly reducing the probability of encountering malicious cheaters.
Because, generally speaking, obtaining loot through PvE combat in ARC Raiders is more like playing a pre-designed game script, rather than robbing others as in PvP, so players who focus on this type of gameplay tend to be more friendly.
In addition, some maps with richer loot have more PvP players, such as Stella Montis. This area has many rooms that can arouse greed and ambition, making it a haven for cheaters.
Interestingly, even cheaters have a sense of "shame" and don't want their friends to find out they're cheating, while professional hackers always work alone. Therefore, the probability of encountering cheaters is higher in solo matches than in team matches.
In summary, if you prefer PvP gameplay and frequently explore popular maps alone, you're more likely to encounter cheaters, but it's undeniable that cheating can occur in other situations as well.
Exploits are just an excuse
Besides directly identifiable cheating behaviors, some players like to exploit existing vulnerabilities in the game, but refuse to admit it's cheating, calling it merely "making the most of the resources."
For example, the walls exploit exists on most maps, and for some reason, it appears more frequently in Stella Montis. These exploits allow you to ignore the game's models and rules, freely pass through walls and doors, or hide inside walls.
Although the developers have made some fixes, unfortunately, they haven't completely solved the problem, and they've allowed these lingering vulnerabilities to persist, affecting the experience of all law-abiding players.
In addition, there's a bug in ARC Raiders where players' characters don't actually load after entering the extraction point. This means they can easily kill other normal players entering the extraction point with "free invisibility."
To be honest, since everyone can exploit game vulnerabilities, there's no need to criticize others' choices, but this doesn't negate the fact that it is indeed a form of cheating.
Ironically, if you say that exploiting vulnerabilities is cheating, a bunch of people who lack the courage to use professional cheating methods but want to take shortcuts will immediately jump out to refute you.
The effect of unscrupulous bloggers
While criticizing cheating is a more common gaming principle, there are indeed some people who even dare to publicly post ARC Raiders game videos showing themselves winning by exploiting vulnerabilities or using cheating techniques.
If you are a mentally sound adult player, you will naturally have your own judgment, but for young players, they are likely to be misled by these game video bloggers and think that cheating in games is no big deal.
In the long run, if the official developers don't intervene and control the situation, the in-game environment and the atmosphere of the game community will get worse and worse. Eventually, all the normal players will leave, leaving only cheaters behind.
Developer's response
As cheating problems escalated, the developers of ARC Raiders finally responded on January 9th via Discord, stating that they would be implementing fixes and optimizations in the coming weeks.
Expected measures include adding a new anti-cheat system to improve the accuracy of cheat detection and increase the efficiency of bans. In addition, various map exploits will be fixed to reduce opportunities for malicious players to take advantage of vulnerabilities.
While the effectiveness of these measures remains to be seen, this announcement at least provides an initial deterrent, hopefully curbing the rampant cheating.
Perhaps the developers have realized that if left unchecked, cheating techniques will only improve as ARC Raiders' popularity continues to grow, eventually becoming difficult to suppress.
Beyond the widespread cheating, beneath the current popularity, ARC Raiders' gameplay and mechanics still have many issues. Therefore, to become a truly mature game, ARC Raiders still has a long way to go.
