With the upcoming release of Zenless Zone Zero 2.7, you'll need to temporarily forget the romance of the girl band from the previous version and immerse yourself in a new adventure with new characters!

Version 2.7, officially titled Champions Never Fall to the Past, will be released in two phases, introducing new characters, their outfits and weapons, as well as more new events to participate in.

Below is a comprehensive overview of Version 2.7.

Version 2.7 release date

This version is divided into two phases. Phase 1 (which also represents the entire version) will launch on March 24, 2026, and last until approximately April 15.

Phase 2 will follow shortly after, ending on May 5, signifying the end of 2.7 and the beginning of 2.8.

Of course, the exact dates will vary slightly depending on your time zone, so please keep an eye out. Additionally, there will probably be maintenance before the new version launches, after which you will receive compensation rewards.

New banners and characters

Each phase contains one new banner and one rerun banner. Each banner features one Rank S character and two Rank A characters. Additionally, each character banner has a corresponding W-Engine (character weapon) banner.

Generally, if you don't particularly want a specific rerun character, it's better to save your Polychromes or Monochromes for the new character, as they may provide additional bonuses for progressing through new missions.

Phase 1

All character banners and their contents in this phase are as follows:

• New Character Banner - Axiom of Captivation: Rank S Nangong Yu, Rank A Nicole, Rank A Piper
• Rerun Character Banner - Alone in a Shared Dream: Rank S Yidhari, Rank A Nicole, Rank A Piper

Drawing from the new character banner has a 50% chance of yielding the new character on your first Rank S/A summon. If not on the first summon, it will be on your next summon. In addition, other possible Rank S characters are all from Star-Studded Cast.

As for Phase 1 W-Engine banners, they include:

• Dissonant Sonata: Neon Fantasies (Nangong Yu exclusive), The Vault, Roaring Ride
• Vibrant Resonance (Rerun): Kraken's Cradle, The Vault, Roaring Ride

Phase 2

The drop rates for characters of all ranks in this phase are the same as in Phase 1. The banners and their contents are as follows:

It's worth noting that Version 2.7 did not add any new Bangboos. If you want an older Bangboo, you'll need to continue drawing from the exclusive banner An Outstanding Partner.

New character exclusive outfits

Version 2.7 introduces a new outfit for Phase 1 character Nangong Yu: Rhapsody's Muse. This is a skin set primarily featuring black, pink, and purple colors, and can be obtained from Today's Outfit shop.

More character previews

Some mysterious characters who appeared in the version livestream and trailers did not appear in Version 2.7, so they will probably appear in later Versions 2.8 or 2.9.

Currently known unreleased new characters include Promeia from Krampus, who seems to have a close relationship with Cissia; Velina and Norma, who are related to the new main story chapters; and a mysterious figure who is only shown as a silhouette for now.

Event W-Engine The Simmering Pot

The Simmering Pot is a Rank A Stun W-Engine, obtainable only by completing the new flagship event Chronicle of Simmering Flavors introduced in Version 2.7.

You can think of this event as a hot pot mini-game. You need to help the owner, Blaze, make hot pots that satisfy customers to complete orders and save the hot pot restaurant from bankruptcy.

Each order requires you to combine ingredients such as meat or vegetables according to the customer's request, and then submit them to accumulate points to complete the level. It mainly tests your attention to detail and reaction speed.

Other new events

Besides Chronicle of Simmering Flavors, Version 2.7 will also bring other events. Some require you to complete specific tasks, while others simply reward you for logging in regularly.

As usual, Zenless Zone Zero version updates will include the main story, bosses, and other combat content, and this time is no exception.

When will Version 2.6 be released?

According to the trailer and other related information, the official name of Version 2.6 is Encore for an Old Dream, and it will be released on February 6th, 2026 (quite a coincidental combination of numbers!).

It should be noted that Phase 1, which will be released first, will end on February 27th, followed by Phase 2, which will last until March 24th, marking the end of Version 2.6. As is customary, Version 2.7 will be released next.

All character banners

For ARPGs like Zenless Zone Zero, which emphasize gacha elements, character acquisition is a key focus for players with each update. Therefore, it's crucial to ensure new characters are visually appealing while maintaining sufficient strength.

As seen from the version name and promotional images, the new characters released this time are all themed around the concept of teenage idols. Unlike Genshin Impact, ZZZ's character designs incorporate more modern and fashionable elements.

Phase 1 characters

This phase features two character banners, one introducing a new character and the other showcasing the return of a popular older character.

The new character is Sunna, an S-rank character. From a story perspective, she's an essential core member and the songwriter for the band Angels of Delusion! Gameplay-wise, she's a physical-attribute support agent.

Her main skills and activatable buffs in battle include:

• Cat's Gaze effect: Activated by summoning the companion Bubblegum using an EX special attack. When other Attack or Anomaly Agents in the team attack enemies affected by this effect, an explosion can be triggered.
• Claw Sharpener stacks: Claw Sharpener stacks can be generated when Ether Veil is active or when other team members apply Attribute Anomaly to enemies. Consuming one stack of this effect will cause the enemy to be affected by Cat's Gaze again.
• Ether Veil: Delusion Reprise: This special passive effect is triggered when Sunna uses Angelic Chord-ination, increasing the attack power of all allied members on the field.

Phase 1 rerun character is Yixuan of S-rank, who first appeared with the release of Version 2.0. Additionally, Phase 1 new banner and rerun banner may drop A-rank characters Corin and Bill.

Phase 2 characters

The new character introduced in this phase is Aria, the lead singer of the band Angels of Delusion, who is also an S-rank Ether Anomaly agent in the game. Her main combat effects include:

• Fandom Power: Generated through EX special attacks, then consumed to enhance charged attacks.
• Hold down the normal attack button: Charges Aria to unleash a powerful downward slash, dealing massive aether damage to enemies in an area. Maximum charge level is 3.

The rerun character for this phase is Yuzuha, and A-rank characters that can appear in both banners simultaneously are Anton and Seth.

Generally, new characters' skills and attributes are more suitable for experiencing the new version, so we recommend prioritizing pulling for Sunna or Aria. If you only have enough resources to acquire one, it's best to immediately get Zenless Zone Zero top up.

All W-Engine banners

W-Engine stands for Wave Engine, which is actually a special gear used by ZZZ characters (agents) to enhance their attributes or grant them unique passive abilities.

Generally, W-Engine banners are designed to complement the banners of characters in the current phase, providing weapons best suited for those characters. The following are all W-Engine banners released based on Version 2.6:

New Bangboo: Biggest Fan

This intelligent creature, resembling both a rabbit and a penguin, acts like a pet, providing damage buffs or other positive effects to your entire team during battle.

Biggest Fan, added in Version 2.6, is a new member of the adorable girl band Angels of Delusion and their exclusive Bangboo. You can obtain it through the new Bangboo banner, An Outstanding Partner.

New outfits and other accessories

Perhaps to echo the characters' idol status, this update also introduces a new outfit for each of the two new S-rank characters:

• Sunna: Afternoon Tea Break
• Aria: Discordant Note

These two skins will be available in Today's Outfit section of Signal Shop after Version 2.6 goes live. Any player who acquires the new characters should find these adorable and exquisite outfits irresistible.

In addition, Pan Yinhu, a character introduced in Version 2.0 with the highly popular panda design, also receives a new outfit, Culinary Jewel, in 2.6 update. This skin is free and can be obtained by completing A Harmony of Delusions event.

Another reward from A Harmony of Delusions event is a new Proxy Wardrobe Accessory, a horse headpiece! This is likely a celebration of Chinese New Year, as this year is the year of the horse.

Other updates

First, as usual, the official update will bring a new main story chapter. Version 2.6 will release Season 2 Interlude Encore For An Old Dream. Details are currently unclear, but it will definitely feature Angels of Delusion members will be the main characters.

Regarding other gameplay modes, Theshold Simulation will receive a reset named Myriad Endgame, providing more new routes and enemies. Hollow Zero will receive a UI update and a new Deep Cleaning Service Card mechanic.
