WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Shattered Halls Guide | Don't Enter Phase 2 Without Completing This Hellfire Citadel Dungeon!

Category: WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Posted: Mar 13, 2026 Views: 1491

Typically, the duration of Phase 1 in WoW TBC Classic Anniversary is sufficient for you to complete the leveling process. However, once that is done, you will still need to continue exploring dungeons and farming loot to prepare for the launch of Phase 2.

Unlike raids, provided that you and your teammates possess the necessary skills and have met the prerequisites, you are free to challenge any dungeon, including its Heroic mode, at your leisure.

Nevertheless, we still recommend that you progress through the dungeons sequentially, following their designated level ranges.

We have previously introduced you to the first two dungeons located within Hellfire Citadel; in this guide, we present a detailed walkthrough for the final dungeon in this zone: Shattered Halls.

WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Shattered Halls Guide | Don't Enter Phase 2 Without Completing This Hellfire Citadel Dungeon!

How to unlock Shattered Halls dungeon?

First, note that the dungeon is situated within Hellfire Citadel, an area located in Hellfire Peninsula of Outland. The specific coordinates for the entrance to Shattered Halls, which is somewhat hidden within the zone: /way 47.8, 51.1.

Once you have located the entrance, you cannot immediately begin exploring the dungeon; you must first obtain a specific item: Shattered Halls Key. Fortunately, only one member of your party needs to possess this key.

Alternatively, if your Shattered Halls party includes a level-capped Rogue who has trained their Lockpicking skill to 350, they can simply pick the lock and open the dungeon gates directly.

How to get Shattered Halls Key?

Acquiring this item involves completing a short quest chain. Please note that some of the specific tasks within this chain may vary depending on your faction alignment, either Honor Hold (Alliance) or Thrallmar (Horde).

  1. Travel to Shadowmoon Valley, locate, and kill Smith Gorlunk.
  2. Loot the quest item Primed Key Mold from his corpse to automatically accept the initial quest: Entry Into the Citadel.
  3. Upon completing this quest, find the appropriate NPC corresponding to your faction to turn it in.
  4. Accept and complete the subsequent quests: Grand Master Dumphry & Dumphry's Request (for Alliance); or Grand Master Rohok & Rohok's Request (for Horde).
  5. Accept the final quest: Hotter than Hell. This quest requires you to form a party and successfully kill a Fel Reaver roaming Hellfire Peninsula.
  6. Fel Reaver corpse will transform Unfired Key Mold you obtained earlier into a Charred Key Mold. Turn in this item to receive your final reward: Shattered Halls Key.

How to unlock Heroic Mode?

Unlocking Heroic Mode simply requires you to obtain the specific key associated with the corresponding dungeon hub; there is no need to complete individual prerequisites for each dungeon one by one.

Since Shattered Halls is part of Hellfire Citadel, if you have previously obtained Flamewrought Key to unlock Heroic modes for Hellfire Ramparts or Blood Furnace, you do not need to go through the trouble of obtaining it again.

If Shattered Halls is your first Heroic dungeon within Hellfire Citadel, you simply need to raise your reputation with either Honor Hold or Thrallmar, and then redeem the key from the corresponding Quartermaster consuming WoW TBC Classic Anniversary gold.
