Category: WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Posted: Jan 12, 2026 Views: 8916

Following the confirmation of Pre-Patch release date as January 13th, the first part of the official WoW TBC Classic Anniversary content, Phase 1, has also been confirmed for a release date of February 5th, 2026!

Of course, while you're excited about this news, you still have a lot of preparation work to do, such as timely server migration for your characters and perfecting your characters during Pre-Patch phase.

Next, we'll bring you more information on the subsequent TBC Anniversary schedule and specific strategies for preparing for Phase 1.

WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Pre-Patch & Phase 1 Schedule, New Races, Raids and More

Overview of TBC Classic Anniversary phases schedule

While only Pre-Patch and Phase 1 release dates are currently confirmed, the themes for subsequent phases are already set:

  • Pre-Patch: Leveling updates, new races, and more
  • Phase 1: New dungeons, raids, Outland zones, and more
  • Phase 2: Professorial updates and new dungeons
  • Phase 3: Mount Hyjal and Black Temple Raids
  • Phase 4: New raid Zul'Aman
  • Phase 5: New raids, dungeons, and quests

If you want to predict the release dates for Phase 2-5 to allow sufficient time to prepare for the new content, you can refer to the previous release intervals for WoW TBC Classic phases.

Preparations before Pre-Patch

If you are a player from WoW Classic 20th Anniversary, you can create a new character or choose to play your existing WoW 20th Anniversary character - they will be automatically transferred to TBC Classic Anniversary.

If you don't want to do this, you can choose to transfer your WoW 20th Anniversary character to Classic Era realms before January 13th.

Note that Classic Era Transfer Window will close one day before Pre-Patch goes live, on January 12th. If you haven't completed the transfer by then, your WoW 20th Anniversary character will be transferred to TBC Classic Anniversary by default.

After successfully completing the transfer, you can continue your new journey when Pre-Patch begins, and your accumulated gold can be converted into WoW TBC Classic Anniversary gold for continued use!

Note that if your WoW 20th Anniversary character is on a hardcore server, you'll need to manually transfer it to regular realms for it to automatically enter TBC Anniversary event.

New content in Pre-Patch

Besides server transfer, you'll also need to be aware of the new content in Pre-Patch, with the addition of the new races Blood Elf and Draenei, being the most important, as this means you can play new exclusive classes:

  • Blood Elf Paladin (Horde)
  • Draenei Shamans (Alliance)

Other major changes brought by TBC Anniversary Pre-Patch include:

  • Added material stacking functionality to save inventory space.
  • New starter zones and home cities: Silvermoon City and The Exodar.
  • The experience required per level is reduced by 15% during leveling from 20 to 60.
  • Starting at level 30, XP gained from completing quests is increased, and XP gained from dungeons is even greater.
  • Guild bank access has been optimized for greater convenience.
  • You can obtain mounts more easily and earlier.
  • A new Jewelcrafting profession has been added, bringing more crafting options and gameplay.

Phase 1 new content overview

This phase will launch on February 5th, initially offering a subset of content, followed by PvP Arena Season 1 on February 17th and three new raids on February 19th.

Once you reach level 70 during Pre-Patch or Phase 1, you can travel to Outland and explore all its zones, riding your unlocked flying mounts on your adventures.

PvP Arena Season 1

The arena first appeared in Burning Crusade. Initially, this feature allowed you to play ranked PvP matches with other players, but your final rank was tied to your team. This meant that if you teamed up with other players, your Arena rank had to start from scratch.

Therefore, to avoid the repetitive and tedious process, most players chose to join only one clan per bracket, significantly limiting the mode's re-playability.

However, Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary has addressed this issue. The old party system has been removed. You can now use your individual starting level score of 1500 to gain more freedom in gameplay and progression.

Karazhan Raid

This is the first raid opened in Phase 1, containing 12 bosses. You need to complete certain quests to unlock and enter. Completing raid-related quests and defeating the relevant bosses will also earn reputation points for The Violet Eye.

All bosses include:

  • Servant Quarters
  • Attumen the Huntsman
  • Moroes
  • Maiden of Virtue
  • Barnes
  • The Curator
  • Terestian Illhoof
  • Shade of Aran
  • Netherspite
  • Chess Event
  • Prince Malchezaar
  • Nightbane (Summoned)

Gruul's Lair Raid

This raid requires a 25-player group, with each character at least level 65. The raid contains two bosses: High King Maulgar and Gruul the Dragonkiller.

Magtheridon's Lair Raid

The requirements for this raid are basically the same as Gruul's Lair, the only difference being that Magtheridon's Lair only has one boss, Magtheridon. However, before fighting him, you need to defeat Hellfire Channelers who are imprisoning the boss.

Completing these raids will reward you with Tier 4 Tokens. You can then travel to Shattrath City to find your faction's vendor and use the tokens to exchange for some set pieces - another portion will drop from the bosses in the latter two raids.

That concludes this introduction. If you want to get ahead of others quickly after Pre-Patch starts, start preparing now!
