If you have already completed all BCC Anniversary Phase 2 raids, or if you find them too challenging, why not slow down the pace and try clearing the remaining dungeons instead?
While the difficulty of some dungeons can still be substantial, they are generally much more manageable than raids. Furthermore, they require fewer players, making it significantly easier to form a group.
In this guide, we will walk you through Shadow Labyrinth Dungeon. Among all TBC Anniversary dungeons released so far, it is considered one of the trickier ones, making it well worth investing a little extra time to prepare for.

Shadow Labyrinth Dungeon location
WoW TBC Classic Anniversary is expected to release 16 dungeons throughout its entire lifecycle.
Of these, 15 were made available with the launch of Phase 1, with the sole exception being the final dungeon, Magisters' Terrace (which becomes available upon the launch of Phase 5).
Although the game does not explicitly list a specific difficulty tier for every dungeon, they are distributed across various zones and are encountered sequentially as you progress through your exploration of the world.
Based on this, Shadow Labyrinth Dungeon is located in Terokkar Forest; its entrance coordinates are /way 39, 71.
Terokkar Forest is actually home to an entire dungeon complex known as Auchindoun, which houses four distinct dungeons, Shadow Labyrinth being one of them. The other three are:
- Auchenai Crypts
- Mana-Tombs
- Sethekk Halls
Additionally, Terokkar Forest serves as a pivotal central zone within the game, as it is the location of the neutral city of Shattrath. You can complete quests within this zone to increase your reputation with Lower City faction.
How to unlock Shadow Labyrinth?
Although the minimum character level requirement for Normal difficulty of this dungeon is 65, it is much safer, and highly recommended, to enter once you have reached the maximum level.
In fact, by this stage of the game, you should have already reached the level cap.
In addition to meeting the level requirement, unlocking Normal difficulty requires you to obtain a specific item: Shadow Labyrinth Key.
If you and your four teammates are prepared to tackle Heroic difficulty, you will need to complete a specific Attunement questline to obtain Auchenai Key.
How to obtain Shadow Labyrinth Key?
To acquire this item, at least one member of your group must have previously cleared Sethekk Halls dungeon.
Upon defeating the final boss in Sethekk Halls, you will be able to loot The Talon King's Coffer, inside which you will find the key.
Alternatively, if your group includes a max-level Rogue with a Lockpicking skill of 350 or higher, they can directly unlock the entrance to Shadow Labyrinth dungeon.
How to complete Attunement quest?
First, you must ensure that you have aligned yourself with Lower City faction. Then, earn reputation points, primarily by completing quests, until you reach Revered reputation level, which unlocks the ability to trade with Quartermaster Nakodu.
Afterward, you can consume gold to unlock Auchenai Key, which is required to open Heroic mode of Shadow Labyrinth. This key can also be used to unlock Heroic modes for the other three dungeons located within Auchindoun.
How to clear the dungeon?
Shadow Labyrinth dungeon features four bosses, with the difficulty of defeating them increasing progressively. We have outlined their primary mechanics and abilities below, as well as the enhancements they gain when encountered in Heroic mode.
Ambassador Hellmaw
As the first boss in Shadow Labyrinth, Ambassador Hellmaw possesses only two main abilities: Corrosive Acid and Fear. The former is particularly dangerous, as it inflicts corrosive damage over time.
In Heroic difficulty, this boss will enter Enrage state after three minutes; your group must be prepared to deal with this threat in advance.
Blackheart the Inciter
Of all this boss's abilities, the trickiest is Incite Chaos. This ability mind-controls the targeted player for 15 seconds, an effect that cannot be dispelled, and simultaneously wipes all threat the affected player has generated.
When challenging Blackheart the Inciter on Heroic difficulty, he does not gain any new abilities; however, both his health pool and damage output are significantly increased.
Grandmaster Vorpil
In Normal mode, this boss cycles through the following abilities:
- Banish
- Draw Shadows
- Rain of Fire
- Shadow Bolt Volley
Once Heroic difficulty is unlocked, the boss gains an additional ability: Banish. This ability periodically removes a random player from the battlefield for 8 seconds.
Murmur
This boss is unique in that at the start of the encounter, he begins with only 40% of his total health. He remains stationary throughout the fight but will lock onto a specific player to cast an explosive attack.
To keep the targeted player alive, healers in the group should cast powerful healing spells on them, ensuring they position themselves far enough away to avoid being caught in the resulting explosion.
The boss's Magnetic Pull ability randomly pulls a player toward him, while his Sonic Boom ability deals massive damage; however, the latter can be dodged in advance by watching for the on-screen text warning.
In Heroic mode, this boss gains a new ability: Sonic Shock. To avoid taking devastating damage, you must remain within a 35-yard radius centered on the boss.
In-dungeon quests
In addition to defeating the bosses, Shadow Labyrinth dungeon features several side quests. Completing each one rewards you with gold and exclusive gear, while also boosting your reputation with Lower City faction.
The following is a list of all available quests:
- The Book of Fel Names
- The Lexicon Demonica
- Entry Into Karazhan
- Trouble at Auchindoun
- The Codex of Blood
- Into the Heart of the Labyrinth
- Find Spy To'gun
- The Soul Devices
The first three quests on this list are particularly tricky, as you can only begin them after completing the prerequisite quest chain specific to your chosen faction, either Aldor or Scryers.
What rewards can you earn?
Each time you defeat a boss, you have a chance to obtain their exclusive loot drops. While the difficulty levels of Normal and Heroic modes differ, the overall loot tables are largely similar.
The only notable exception is that in Heroic mode, the final boss, Murmur, will additionally drop Primal Nether.
The value of Primal Nether lies in the fact that it is a key crafting material required for many high-level recipes, enabling you to craft more powerful items.
Given that your primary focus at this stage is likely on acquiring better gear, we have listed below only the higher-rarity loot drops for your reference. If you happen to obtain an item that isn't useful to you, you can simply sell it for gold.
- Kirin Tor Master's Trousers
- Master Thief's Gloves
- Girdle of Ferocity
- Shockwave Truncheon
- Pattern: Spellstrike Pants
- Etched Fire Opal
- Regal Tanzanite
- Rune Covered Chrysoprase
Furthermore, if your faction currently controls all five Spirit Towers in Bone Wastes, you will benefit from Blessing of Auchindoun buff.
This means that while farming any of Auchindoun dungeons, bosses will have a chance to drop Spirit Shards. You can obtain up to two Spirit Shards specifically within Shadow Labyrinth.
This special currency can be traded with Spirit Sage vendors aligned with your faction to acquire additional high-quality gear. This will also prove helpful as you progress through endgame raids.
This concludes our guide to clearing Shadow Labyrinth dungeon. If you're currently unsure what to do in Phase 2, why not go ahead and take on the challenge?
