WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Phase 1 Ultimate DPS Optimization Across Raids | The Secret to Dominating Damage Meters
Category: WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Posted: Feb 23, 2026 Views: 871
WoW TBC anniversary raids are now open, and it's foreseeable that this will be the core of most players' gameplay in the coming weeks.
If you've played the original version or TBC Classic, you might remember how to deal with raid bosses. However, these strategies may be outdated for TBC anniversary. Here are some new strategies for 2026.

Karazhan
Moroes
Moroes is significantly easier than it was in 2021. Previously, you needed to control secondary targets, dealing with them one by one. Now, you simply need a Protection Paladin to hold all the adds, allowing other tanks to tank Moroes.
DPS in the group can simply wait a few seconds and then unleash AOE damage to defeat the boss in a third of the time. This is not only the easiest method currently available, but it also significantly boosts DPS ratings. And this strategy is perfectly viable even with poor gear.
Nightbane
As a hidden boss, unlocking Nightbane requires meeting a series of prerequisites. To start the questline, you first need to reach Revered reputation with Violet Eye faction.
There's a technique for increasing reputation, though it's a bit tedious. It's located in Servant's Quarters directly below Karazhan entrance. Grinding there for 15 minutes will grant you approximately 1000 Karazhan reputation points. In about an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes, you'll reach the reputation required to summon Nightbane.
By the way, the mini-bosses here drop epic gear, and they don't count towards your Raides progress. This allows you to be among the first on the server to defeat Nightbane.
Shade of Aran
Being sucked into Shade of Aran is extremely frustrating for caster classes, especially Warlocks. However, skilled players use the books in the library to create a defensive position, preventing you from being sucked in and allowing you to safely deal damage.
Netherspite
Netherspite is one of the most powerful bosses in Karazhan, and many players know how to handle it. The red beams are handled by a tank who enters and exits every 5 seconds; the green beams are handled by DPS or healers who are low on mana; and the blue beams should be handled by your raid's highest burst DPS, ideally a Mage.
However, in WoW TBC anniversary update, raids have been largely nerfed. While the above method is still viable, it's outdated. With improved gear, you can even skip most phases and burst down the boss directly into Phase 2.
The damage in this phase has been significantly reduced. If your healers are good enough, DPS won't die and may never even need to leave the blue beams, remaining inside to deal damage, which will significantly improve your rating.
Chess Event
Chess Event in WoW TBC anniversary update is arguably the most difficult content so far, but its advantage is that
the key to victory is keeping your king away from danger. Place him in the back row, constantly dodging the flames on the ground until the enemy king comes to you. This won't increase your DPS, but it will guarantee your victory.
Prince Malchezaar
Prince Malchezaar has stumped many guilds, but here's a method that almost guarantees a 100% kill. First, the positioning remains unchanged; use the door stratagem. Ensure melee classes can easily enter and exit the hiding spot. Second, let Feral Druids in your party deal damage.
Only DPS and healers whose health drops to 1 after being targeted need to run out to dodge. Note that you can immediately return to your original position after Nova effect activates, even if your health is still 1; this maximizes your DPS.
Also, always save your skill cooldowns and Bloodlust/Heroism for the Infernal phase after he reaches 60% health. Using it at the start is a waste of the easiest and least important phase of the entire fight.
If you want to go further, you can consider using only one tank for the entire raid, letting a tanky plate-armored DPS absorb the red beams. Of course, this will significantly increase the pressure throughout the fight.
Additionally, many people have tried solo healing the entire raid. If your healer is a Shaman, Priest, or Restoration Druid, and their healing output is above 1600, theoretically, having just one of them is enough, allowing you to bring an extra DPS.
Gruul's Lair
High King Maulgar
High King Maulgar is more complex to fight, requiring everyone in the team to fulfill their specific role and handle different mobs. However, you can actually focus fire on High King Maulgar while using Cleave to clear all the adds.
If everyone executes their tasks perfectly while achieving maximum area-of-effect damage bursts, you could even end the fight in 30 seconds using this method.
Magtheridon's Lair
There are several techniques to significantly increase damage in Magtheridon. Currently, the safest and most widely used strategy is: one tank in the west, one in the middle, and one in the east. Each tank holds as many summoners as possible in their assigned area. DPS start clearing mobs from the middle, assigning interrupt tasks, clearing the middle wave, and banishing all elemental mobs. The boss appears after two minutes; it should be held by a warrior or protection paladin (not a Feral Druid) and paired with two dedicated healers.
If you want to further increase DPS, first assign five players to the cube clickers. Hunters and caster classes are the best choices. They take damage with each click, so healers need to be assigned to watch the left, right, and south areas.
In TBC anniversary, you don't need to rotate the cube clicker players; you can have a fixed group clicking from beginning to end. To maximize damage, you should assign the player with the lowest DPS but most reliable skills to activate the boxes. If you can align the timing of Bloodlust/Heroism activation with the phase when the boxes are activated, all damage taken by the boss will be increased by 300%!
These are the most efficient strategies and tips for these raids. Regardless of your gear or skill level, these strategies are worth trying. Everyone else will eventually use these methods, so the sooner you learn them, the better.
