Don't Miss Out! WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Essential Fishing Secrets: Leveling, Dailies, and Gold Making

Fishing has always been one of the most fun professions in Classic WoW. Unlike gathering and combat activities, you can often simply sit by a nice pond with your fishing rod for an afternoon and reap decent rewards. From delicious food to raid tools to cool mounts, there are plenty of achievements to chase.
In WoW TBC Classic Anniversary, the fishing mechanics haven't changed much. But if you want to level up quickly and earn more gold through fishing, then you can't miss this guide! Grab your rod, bait your hook, find a good spot, and wait for the good news!

Required Fishing Skill Level
First of all, as the most popular secondary profession in the game, learning and leveling up Fishing has no downsides, and it's an easy way to earn some extra WoW TBC Classic Anniversary gold when you have free time.
It's important to note that each zone in Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary has a corresponding Fishing Level requirement, which determines the difficulty of fishing. The higher your fishing skill level relative to the zone's requirement, the easier it will be to catch fish. However, if your skill level is below the zone's requirement, you'll catch junk instead of fish. Below are the minimum level requirements for different zones to guarantee 100% fishing success:
- Level 1-10 zones: 25
- Level 11-20 zones: 75
- Level 21-30 zones: 150
- Level 31-40 zones: 225
- Level 40-55 zones: 300
- Outland: 400
- Level 55-60 zones: 425
- Azeroth: 450
- Northrend: 500
This list is to give you an idea of the minimum requirements for maximizing your chances of catching fish, but it doesn't mean you can't fish if your fishing skill level is below these zones; it just means it might be more difficult.
How to improve your Fishing Level?
Before you start fishing, you'll need a high overall skill level to fish easily in Outlands. So, how do we improve our fishing skill?
Fishing Pole
First, a good fishing pole will make your fishing much easier! Seth's Graphite Fishing Pole is a must-have, providing +20 fishing skill. You can obtain it by completing the level 64 quest Rather Be Fishin' in Shattrath.
This quest is easy to complete; simply collect 8 Pristine Shimmerscale Eels. Using underwater breathing apparatus is recommended for easier completion. While the drop rate isn't 100%, with a few tries, you'll definitely have a chance to get it!
Another good fishing pole is Nat Pagle's Extreme Angler FC-5000, which provides +25 fishing skill. This rod is only available to Horde players and can be obtained by completing the quest Snapjaws, Mon! in Hinterlands.
There's also Arcanite Fishing Pole, which requires winning Stranglethorn Vale Fishing Extravaganza, but it offers the highest Fishing Skill bonus, a whopping 35 points.
Finally, if you can't find these fishing poles, you can also head to the Auction House for Big Iron Fishing Pole, which also provides a +30 Fishing Skill boost.
Fishing Lures
As for lures, the best remains Aquadynamic Fish Attractor crafted by Engineering. It provides a 100 fishing skill bonus for 10 minutes.
Best Fishing Locations
Now that you have the best fishing poles and lures, where should you begin your fishing journey?
We recommend starting in Zangarmarsh, as the human master fishing trainer and vendor, Juno Dufrain, is nearby. Once your skill level reaches 275 or higher, you can obtain Master Fishing Book from him, raising your skill cap to 375.
However, Juno Dufrain has quite a few good items! If you have enough inventory space, you might also want to get Recipe: Blackened Sporefish from him. While this requires Cooking 310 to use, it will be very useful if you find plenty of Sporefish in Zangarmarsh. After that, you can start fishing at Umbrafen Lake without having to travel far.
Next, you can choose to set up camp there and start fishing, or wander around the lake like in Classic WoW, looking for other fishing spots and Steam Pump Flotsam.
Fishing Daily Quests
Now, let's look at some of the daily fishing quests in WoW TBC Anniversary. These quests will be offered to you by Old Man Barlo once you reach level 70; you can find this NPC in Terokkar Forest. While there's no minimum fishing skill requirement, completing these quests can be challenging if your fishing skill is low.
Each quest will take you to a different area to fish for specific creatures. Each day, you will randomly select one quest from the following list to complete:
- Bait Bandits: Turn in x1 Blackfin Darter
- Felblood Fillet: Turn in x1 Monstrous Felblood Snapper
- The One That Got Away: Turn in x1 World's Largest Mudfish
- Shrimpin' Ain't Easy: Catch Bloated Barbed Gill Trout and loot them until you collect x10 Giant Freshwater Shrimp
- Crocolisks in the City: Turn in x1 Baby Crocolisk
While Outland's daily fishing quests are neutral and not Alliance or Horde exclusive, please ensure you are not involved in raids while performing these daily quests and that you have sufficient inventory space when completing them all.
Fishing & Cooking
Finally, fishing and cooking work well together. The fish you catch will ultimately be primarily used for cooking to create ingredients that restore health and boost various attributes.
For example, Golden Darter caught in Terokkar Forest, Zangarmarsh, and Shadowmoon Valley can be used to cook Golden Fish Sticks, a fantastic food buff for healers, providing +44 healing and +20 spirit for 30 minutes.
Additionally, Furious Crawdad caught in Terokkar Forest can be used to cook Spicy Crawdad, a food buff that provides +30 stamina and +20 spirit.
Huge Spotted Feltail, found in Zangarmarsh, can be used to cook Fisherman's Feast, a delicious feast that provides 30 stamina and 20 spirit, the same as Spicy Crawdad. However, this recipe is not yet available in TBC Phase 1, so keep your Huge Spotted Feltail safe.
That concludes the complete guide to successful fishing in WoW TBC Classic Anniversary! Whether you're a casual angler or looking to earn thousands of gold to acquire an epic flying mount, this is the ultimate roadmap to success!
