WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Boosted Characters Preparation Guide | The Ultimate Pre-Patch Tips Every Level 58 Player Must Use!

The pre-patch for WoW TBC Classic Anniversary is now live. Besides veteran players from WoW Classic 20th anniversary, many new players have also chosen to join early in anticipation of Outland's opening.
Many of these "new players" are actually veterans from over a decade ago, or even "dad gamers" (players who can‘t play for a long time), and therefore mostly opt for level boosts.
Level boosts only provide your level, and you can't just go straight to raids or Outland with that gear—you'll be too weak. The pre-patch time is meant for leveling up your character.

Upgrading Gear
Level boosted characters will receive a starting set of gear called the Communal set. Frankly, this set has extremely poor stats, even worse than many low-level quest rewards.
Even in TBC pre-patch, if you're in a group, other players will check your gear first. If your gear is too bad, the leader might kick you out of the group. Therefore, your primary task is to acquire a decent set of gear (not necessarily the best, just usable) through dungeons or quests.
Leveling Up
The pre-patch level cap is 60, but the character boost service only gives you a level 58 character. Therefore, you'll need to manually level up the last two levels. Below is a leveling strategy for boosted characters.
Dungeon Speedrunning
Eastern Plaguelands is an ideal leveling location. Check the player count, and if there are many players, choose dungeons for leveling. This way, you can avoid competition and PvP harassment.
In TBC pre-patch, dungeon quest experience was significantly increased, so you can obtain a large amount of XP in the Lower Blackrock Spire in Blackrock Mountain.
Stratholme has a high monster density, making leveling fast. Righteous Orb dropped here is an important commodity, good for both personal use and resale.
Scholomance offers excellent transitional gear, considerable leveling experience, and valuable Dark Rune. For a pure level 58 group, this might be the most profitable overall.
Battlegrounds Leveling
You can also enter Alterac Valley at level 58. Although you'll be matched with level 60 players, you'll gain experience by turning in battleground tokens.
In battlegrounds like Warsong Gulch and Arathi Basin, level 58 players will only be matched with players of the same level range (58-59), potentially providing a better gaming experience.
The downside of this method is that you'll earn almost no WoW TBC Classic Anniversary gold. If you only have the initial 25 gold when you enter Dark Portal, you'll be in a very tight spot.
For players seeking efficiency, a hybrid approach is recommended. First, reach level 59 in Lower Blackrock Spire. If there are few players in the open world, you can complete some high-value quest chains in Eastern Plaguelands, or save these quests as pre-questing. Afterward, move on to Stratholme and Scholomance to acquire gear and materials.
Gear Upgrades after Level 60
After reaching level 60, you'll need to continue upgrading your gear in preparation for the opening of Outland.
Honor Gear
The most direct and efficient way to upgrade is to acquire High Warlord (Horde) and Grand Marshal (Alliance) gear. These can be obtained with just a few hours of honor farming and offer higher damage than gear dropped from dungeons of the same level.
The fastest method is to repeatedly participate in Alterac Valley, and winning or losing doesn't matter, as it has the highest sales volume. Also, don't miss daily battleground quests like Coldtooth Mine, which provide extra free Honor.
Trinkets
The trinkets that come with level boosts are almost useless. To obtain suitable trinkets, you can complete the following two short quest chains:
- Royal Seal of Eldre'Thalas (Royal Seal of Eldre'Thalas quest)
- Rune of the Winterfall (The Ruins of Kel'Theril quest)
You can also go to Dire Maul's library, trade and turn in books of your class, and the reward is a powerful trinket that instantly boosts your stats. However, these books may take you 70 to 100 gold.
Professional Preparation
First Aid
First Aid not only provides crucial self-healing in Outland quests and PvP, especially for hunters and solo farming players, but Netherweave Bandage can also earn you some gold in TBC, so it's best to max it out before developing Outland.
Cooking
On large servers, any consumable sells quickly. You can level your cooking to 300 to make dishes like Roasted Clefthoof and Crunchy Serpent, which are great for both personal use and resale.
Mining
If you're short on gold, it's highly recommended to max out your Mining first. All the ores you gather in Outland and the mineral income from dungeons like Uldaman (WoW Classic 20th Anniversary dungeons) will be enough to support your later studies in Jewelcrafting, Blacksmithing, or Engineering.
Join A Guild
Going solo might offer freedom, but for efficient raid participation and gear acquisition, joining a suitable guild is a wiser choice.
You can visit the official Discord on the server, and there are usually many guilds recruiting for specific classes there.
You have about three weeks before the pre-patch to choose from different guilds and find a team with a suitable atmosphere. With luck, a guild might even organize a fixed five-man group to level together on the day TBC launches.
As a boosted character, you don't need top-tier gear immediately, but you must demonstrate respect for the game's progression and some preparation. The pre-patch period isn't long, and for boosted characters, there's still a lot to do.
