WoW Forever Reputation Changes | How Old and New Factions Expand Progression?

In WoW Forever, every part of the game has undergone major changes. One system that has always been well suited for additional content and has remained a core part of world-building is reputation.

In the past, players could complete various quests tailored to different factions, gradually increase their reputation, earn their trust, and unlock gear, profession recipes, and even items required to take on certain raids.

In WoW Forever, we can see both a rework of the old reputation system and the addition of entirely new reputations. Let's take a look at what is different about the reputation system.

WoW Forever Reputation Changes | How Old and New Factions Expand Progression?

Old Reputations

Gelkis & Magram Clan Centaur

In Vanilla WoW, many reputations felt very incomplete. Aside from a few vendor items or several quests, there was very little content associated with them. In WoW Forever, the official team seems to be trying to make these often-forgotten reputations more valuable.

The most typical example, which was also mentioned at BlizzCon, is Gelkis & Magram Clan Centaur factions in Desolace.

In the past, these two factions were simply rival clans in Desolace. Players could only choose to help one side, gaining access to a questline and a small number of exclusive rewards.

The problem was that these reputations had no vendors. Only one questline offered some exclusive WoW Forever gold and gear, and the gear was not particularly good. Beyond that, the factions had little else to offer.

In WoW Forever, however, reputation vendors have been added, offering a large selection of exclusive loot, including several solid pieces of gear and new exclusive recipes.

There also seem to be new questlines waiting to be unlocked and progressed, potentially involving Maraudon or the new Shendraos subzone in Desolace.

Ravenholdt

Ravenholdt is a rogue-exclusive faction located in the mountains of Hillsbrad Foothills. Only rogues can enter after receiving an invitation from their class trainer at level 24.

In the past, this faction was essentially just a cool piece of background lore that never truly served much of a purpose, with only a few limited characters associated with it.

In WoW Forever, however, this faction has received an update. Players can take on several quests to learn more about its conflict with Syndicate and earn additional reputation by completing them. There are currently four new quests on the test realm, although more may be added in the future.

Steamwheedle Cartel

Steamwheedle Cartel consists of several classic-era goblin factions located in Gadgetzan, Booty Bay, Ratchet, and Everlook.

In the past, these factions offered little beyond vendor discounts, although players could earn a large amount of reputation by completing quests from goblin NPCs across the world.

In WoW Forever, however, these locations have all received vendors associated with their respective reputations. They offer exclusive items, including fairly powerful gear and cosmetics that fit the themes of each faction and region.

Wintersaber Trainers & Venomhide Ravasaur

These are two counterpart reputations from Vanilla WoW, corresponding to Alliance and Horde respectively. Their main rewards are exclusive epic mounts for each faction. However, the two factions were not introduced at the same time and were separated by several years.

In WoW Forever, Venomhide Ravasaur will likely be added relatively soon, as the mount has already been datamined. This means it may not need to be introduced through Cataclysm expansion in the future.

Beyond the reputation factions mentioned above, many other factions will only become available after raids are released. They may also receive additional content like the old reputations above, perhaps in the form of more quests or additional gear.

Overall, we have already seen some overlooked reputations from Vanilla WoW receive new items and quests, giving them a more complete and meaningful role in the world. More content will very likely appear by the time the game officially launches.

New Reputations

Darkspear Raiders & Theramore Expeditionary Force

These are two new PvP reputations associated with the new Darkspear Islands battleground.

Horde side is represented by Darkspear Raiders, while Alliance side is represented by Theramore Expeditionary Force. Both factions provide PvP players who participate in the battleground with a large selection of new gear, joining the ranks of other battleground reputations.

WoW Forever Faction Mount

Brotherhood of the Horse & Boulder Ogres

Brotherhood of the Horse and Boulder Ogres are new factions located in Riverglades, corresponding to Alliance and Horde respectively.

They should offer rewards and progression related to the zone and its dungeon. At least for Brotherhood of the Horse, there may be some kind of faction-related horse mount, while Boulder Ogres should have a corresponding Horde version.

High Order & Windshapers

Skyborn have two faction-specific reputations, with Windshapers representing Horde and High Order representing Alliance. They will likely function similarly to other racial reputations, allowing players to unlock mounts from other races after reaching Exalted.

Barkskin Burrow & The Watchers

These two factions are not hostile to each other, but both are closely connected to the new Mount Hyjal zone and its associated raid.

Barkskin Burrow may be the reputation associated with Hyjal Summit raid, or it could serve as a general reputation for Mount Hyjal zone, functioning similarly to Cenarion Circle in Silithus.

The Watchers are an elite organization within night elf society made up of powerful jailers and marshals. Their background is connected to the new Barrow Deeps raid, although the exact methods of gaining reputation have not yet been confirmed.

The Watchers reputation will very likely be deeply tied to the story and progression of this raid. Players speculate that Illidan Stormrage may be imprisoned within Barrow Deeps.

Profession Reputations

There are also new profession reputations that unlock a large number of new recipes through a special currency. This currency can be obtained by turning in resources placed inside Whalid Crates, which can be discovered while traveling throughout the world or obtained from Auction House.

Every profession has its own recipes, so if you care about obtaining strong crafted items while leveling, do not skip this part.

Overall, WoW Forever has tremendous potential when it comes to profession updates and reputation changes, which could make these systems much more valuable. Hopefully, they will become more substantial without bringing back the painful and tedious reputation grinds of the past.
