In WoW Forever, PvE includes open-world grinding, dungeons, and raids, which account for the vast majority of the game's content. As a result, players need to evaluate each class's DPS when deciding which one to play.
Since WoW Forever will not raise the level cap to 60 until its official launch on November 4, we can only estimate each class's DPS performance based on how they performed during testing.

Tier S
Fury Warrior
Fury Warriors have Rage, powerful damage bursts, Death Wish, critical strike scaling, Deep Wounds, Impale, and the only true ability to chain Execute casts in the game. They can also align all their cooldowns to stack as much burst damage as possible during the execute phase.
Arcane Mage
Arcane Mage can theoretically stack Arcane Blast indefinitely, allowing its damage to scale without a ceiling as long as enough Mana is available.
The downside is limited resources. Arcane Mages often run out of Mana and see their damage output grind to a halt. Conceptually, however, Arcane Mage belongs in the same category as Fury Warrior: a pure, high-damage powerhouse.
Combat Swords Rogue
The official team has explicitly stated that it wants Rogues to be a top-tier DPS class. Combat Swords follows a straightforward and efficient playstyle built around Sinister Strike, Slice and Dice, and Eviscerate. Combined with Haste, weapon scaling, Attack Power scaling, and some cleave damage, this specialization has an exceptionally high damage ceiling.
Tier A
Fire Mage
Fire Mage's ultimate talent, Combustion, acts like an engine ignition system. Critical strikes restore Mana, reduce Pyroblast's cast time, and leave behind Ignite damage over time.
This is a classic specialization that scales exceptionally well with critical strikes. However, it struggles without gear and becomes extremely powerful once its critical strike chance increases.
Frostfire Mage
Frostfire Mage requires players to give up Combustion in favor of Winter's Chill, focusing entirely on landing massive critical strikes. It is undoubtedly powerful, although it may not outperform Arcane Mage.
Feral Druid
Feral Druid has powerful burst cooldowns such as Berserk, as well as Blood Frenzy, a mechanic similar to Rogue ability of the same name. It can also benefit from Windfury.
Cat Form offers strong Attack Power scaling, critical strike damage, and power shifting. The main drawback is the lack of Haste-related mechanics, which puts its DPS slightly behind the strongest specializations.
However, Druids have an advantage when it comes to earning WoW Forever gold; overall, they can be considered Tier S.
Enhancement Shaman
Enhancement Shaman has the potential to break into Tier S. Its current design consolidates Hit and Critical Strike mechanics, allowing it to benefit from both spellcasting and melee combat.
Enhancement Shaman also has Maelstrom Weapon and Flurry, while its ultimate talent can provide 30% increased attack speed for 20 to 25 seconds. Since it benefits from both weapon and spell scaling, it performed exceptionally well during testing.
Arms Warrior
Arms Warrior benefits from normalized Rage generation, which favors slow two-handed weapons, as well as chainable Execute casts, Death Wish, critical strike synergy, weapon scaling, and the cleave potential of Sweeping Strikes.
Some players consider Arms Warrior's DPS unimpressive because they have not yet mastered its ability rotation. Without understanding the correct sequence of abilities, the specialization may feel like a Tier B choice.
Survival Hunter
Survival Hunter's Deadly Aspects works with melee weapons and gives each auto-attack a 10% chance to trigger Flurry. Rapid Fire provides 40% increased attack speed, while Lone Wolf grants 20% additional damage.
Survival Hunter can also make use of traps, Raptor Strike, and Wing Clip. Its 45-yard range advantage additionally allows players to kite some powerful enemies while staying out of reach.
Demonology Warlock
Demonology Warlock uses Demonic Sacrifice and invests talent points in Destruction tree. Soul Link allows the demon to absorb part of the damage taken by its master. Combined with pet-enhancing talents, this makes Demonology Warlock remarkably durable when farming enemies alone and gives it an advantage in PvP as well.

Tier B
Beast Mastery Hunter
Beast Mastery Hunter's pet benefits from critical strike synergy through Ferocity and Frenzy, along with burst damage from Bestial Wrath.
The problem is that most of these critical strike synergies benefit the pet rather than Hunter directly. Unless pets become as overpowered as Lupos once was, Beast Mastery may struggle to keep up with the leading specializations.
Destruction Warlock
Destruction Warlock can deal substantial damage, but most of its output comes from spells with cast times. Movement, interruptions, and frequent target switching can all reduce its effectiveness. Compared with specializations that can maintain damage while moving, Destruction Warlock also places greater demands on positioning during combat.
Marksmanship Hunter
Aimed Shot and Multi-Shot share a cooldown, creating a rotation that more closely resembles the original WoW Classic experience. Marksmanship Hunter can also deal damage from up to 45 yards away. However, its damage rotation is less consistent, and it does not stand out as much as Survival Hunter overall.
Affliction Warlock
Compared with traditional WoW Classic, Affliction Warlock has one major change in WoW Classic+, and DoT effects can critically strike.
In addition, damage-focused curse abilities have been reorganized into a separate Bane category. This allows Affliction Warlocks to apply both damage-dealing Banes and utility-focused Curses simultaneously, improving their DPS and contribution to the group.
However, DoTs need time to deal their full damage. If ordinary enemies die before Corruption and Bane of Agony have time to run their full course, some of their damage potential goes to waste. This limitation matters much less during long boss encounters.
Tier C
Retribution Paladin
Seal of Command combined with a powerful two-handed weapon can deliver substantial melee burst damage. However, Retribution Paladin still lacks a major offensive cooldown that significantly boosts its personal damage output. As a result, even with respectable single-target and AoE damage, it falls behind other classes in raid encounters.
Balance Druid
Although WoW Forever reduces Mana costs of certain spells by improving Wrath and Moonglow, Balance Druid still needs to manage Mana frequently. When grinding enemies continuously, recovering Mana and drinking potions slow down the leveling process.
Elemental Shaman
Elemental Shaman has Lava Burst and Elemental Devastation, with Elemental Devastation also providing powerful synergy with Enhancement Shaman. However, it lacks a dedicated single-target damage-enhancing ability, making it difficult to compete with Fire Mage.
Shadow Priest
Shadow Priest's Shadow talent tree lacks damage multipliers, Haste, and interesting critical strike interactions. It may perform better in PvP, but its PvE damage output remains insufficient.
Frost Mage
Frost Mage offers plenty of utility and survivability, but its Frostbolt rotation can feel repetitive. It also lacks the explosive gameplay that comes from chaining critical strikes and triggering multiple damage multipliers.
Tier D
Subtlety Rogue
Subtlety Rogue specializes in single-target damage and struggles more when facing groups of enemies. Backstab also requires attacking from behind the target, which can be difficult to maintain consistently while leveling alone. As a result, the specialization feels more suited to PvP than PvE.
The differences between specializations are fairly significant, but this diversity is precisely what makes WoW Forever enjoyable. Each official patch could suddenly turn a previously overlooked class into the new meta choice, so play whichever class you enjoy the most.
