Torchlight Infinite SS12 Icebound Beam Carino 2 Guide | Your Beam seeks enemies while you just Blink
Category: Torchlight Infinite Posted: Apr 28, 2026 Views: 17
Torchlight Infinite SS12 has made Chromatic Shot incredibly popular, driving strong demand for its related gear. While Carino 2 pairs exceptionally well with that skill, it demands a large amount of FE. Therefore, we recommend a more resource-friendly yet equally powerful alternative: Icebound Beam Carino 2.
The biggest highlight of this build is its comfort: the skill auto-targets enemies. You simply hold down the channel key and blink around the map freely. Damage isn't absolutely insane, but it's more than enough for most content, and most of the gear is very economical.

Core Mechanics
When channeling Icebound Beam, you simultaneously launch multiple projectiles and a beam. It benefits from shotgunning – multiple projectiles can hit the same target, dealing massive damage. Paired with the abundant energy charges provided by Elegy of Immortality, you can chain movement skills almost without cost while channeling, allowing you to move and shoot seamlessly. This feels incredibly smooth.
The damage of Icebound Beam Carino 2 mainly scales with projectile speed, projectile damage, and cold skill levels. It also leverages the mechanic where projectile speed bonuses convert into additional projectile damage to amplify output.
Icebound Beam Carino 2 Gear
Helmet: Blind Vision
Prioritize the corrupted implicit "+20 Wind Projectiles". This unique helmet provides projectile speed and reload speed, while also converting projectile speed into damage. It's a highly cost-effective choice for all Carino builds.
Body Armor: Lightning Striker's Sacrum
Grants projectile skill levels and a large amount of evasion rating, plus adds lightning damage on hit. Obtainable with roughly a dozen Torchlight Infinite Flame Elementium.
Gloves: Vorax Limb: Hands
Key stats are Tyrant Smoldering and Lucky Crit Strike. Note that crafting these gloves yourself can easily spiral out of control in resource cost; trading for a finished pair is far more sensible.
Boots: Long Night Sorcerer's Boots
You can craft boots by yourself. Look for modifiers that combine damage, projectile speed, cold skill levels, critical value, and resistances. The modifier that grants an energy barrier every 5 meters moved is also worth keeping, as it improves survivability.
Belt: Elder Sage Girdle
Feel free to use any other belt. Focus on stacking energy shield, main attributes, and various resistances.
Amulet: Elegy of Immortality
Be sure to get the corrupted implicit "Reduced extra damage taken while stationary". If this roll is maxed, you gain a permanent 30% reduction in extra damage taken, greatly boosting survivability. Additionally, the body armor's effect keeps feeding you energy charges while channeling, enabling unlimited mobility.
Weapon: First Man's Scepter
For the early league, First Man's Scepter (a two-handed staff) is highly recommended as a base for crafting. A single craft on this staff costs far less than crafting two one-handed weapons. Its base modifiers provide critical chance and spell damage. Ideal mods include spell damage, active skill level, all spell damage, cast speed, critical damage, and elemental damage.
Rings: Revered Light
A ring that grants Beam Skill Level +1 is also worth only about a dozen Flame Elementium. You don't need to chase a specific corruption; it's a great value pick. For the other ring, you can use Thunder Tempered Lightning Ring as a base for crafting, adding modifiers that boost resistances and damage.
Skill Gems
Icebound Beam
Support gems:
- Willpower
- Icebound Beam: Frostbitten (Magnificent)
- Icebound Beam: Ring Blade (Noble)
- Channel Preparation
- Refracted Prism
This is your main skill, and its support gems are where you should invest some resources. Icebound Beam: Frostbitten (Magnificent) grants a direct 20% damage increase and applies a debuff. Icebound Beam: Ring Blade (Noble) also boosts damage and adds extra projectiles. Both require some investment to acquire.
Ice Bond
Support gems:
- Extended Duration
- Mass Effect
- Preparation
- Well-Fought Battle
Place Ice Bond to fire freezing rays at enemies, also increasing the damage they take.
Blink
Support gems:
- Quick Mobility
- Cooldown Reduction
- Periodic Burst
This is the most commonly used movement skill – short cooldown, low resource cost, allowing fast map traversal early on.
Module: Huge Ember Automaton
Support gems:
- Cooldown Reduction
- Extended Duration
- Activation Medium: Motionless
The golem spreads fire ground and applies a debuff that increases damage taken by enemies (roughly 50%). When acquiring one, simply look for the most economical ember automaton with Scorching Smash, ignoring all other mods. Activation Medium: Motionless automatically summons the golem whenever you stop moving, keeping it up permanently. You can also link Cooldown Reduction and Extended Duration – not mandatory, but effective for boss damage.
Biting Cold
Support gems:
- Preparation
- Terrain of Malice
- Extended Duration
Curses enemies, making them take additional cold damage.
Pactspirit Recommendations
- Dreamweaver
- Iron Lion
- Cloudgatherer - Violet
If you still have the event reward selector for a combat pactspirit, strongly recommend picking Iron Lion. Its +2 projectiles, combined with the shotgunning mechanic, effectively acts as a huge total damage multiplier – an extremely significant boost. Cloudgatherer - Violet and Dreamweaver also provide useful elemental penetration.
Control Settings
Go to the in-game settings, find Keyboard/Mouse Auto-Aim Mode under Combat section, and change it to Mode 2. In this mode, Icebound Beam ignores your cursor position and automatically locks onto nearby enemies, elevating the overall smoothness of gameplay. Simply hold down the skill key and adjust your position with Blink – the beam will clear everything for you.
If you really want to try Chromatic Shot, it's still advisable to start with Icebound Beam Carino 2. The resource requirement is modest, its farming efficiency is solid, and it serves as an excellent transitional build. Once you've gathered enough FE, you can seamlessly upgrade to the gear and skills needed for Chromatic Shot Carino 2.
