The introduction of Luminary, the third Scion Ascendancy class, has turned the mercenary-focused playstyle into a popular and highly effective choice in Path of Exile 3.29.

Naturally, to maximize the combat rewards from this mechanic, you need to craft a solid Luminary Mercenary build. Here, we introduce a build centered around Rogue Exile enemy type.

Path of Exile 3.29 Luminary Mercenary Build Crafting Strategy for Fast Currency: How to Break Your Map Profits?

What is the core of this build?

To craft this Luminary Mercenary build, the key lies in leveraging the synergy between Rogue Exiles and specific Scarabs; by summoning large numbers of Rogue Exiles, you trigger the generation of more high-tier mercenaries.

By combining this with specific Atlas passives, you can upgrade your mercenaries' gear to higher rarities. This allows you to earn more PoE currency or recruit superior mercenaries while fighting alongside them as a Luminary.

However, crafting this build comes with strict requirements for your initial survivability and damage output, as you will need to clear high-modifier maps filled with Rogue Exiles, and the mercenaries accompanying them, that deal massive damage and possess large health pools.

On the other hand, the build's ultimate profitability depends on the value of the mercenaries you secure and the drop rates of rare items and currency, making the returns somewhat volatile. If you prefer a more stable playstyle, this build might not be for you.

Which scarabs should you add?

Given Luminary's unique mercenary-based mechanics, the first step in crafting this build isn't selecting skills, as is typical for other builds, but rather unlocking and configuring the right Scarabs.

First, use Anarchy Scarabs and specific Atlas passive nodes to flood your maps with Rogue Exiles. Pair this with Trarthan Scarab of Surprising Alliances, which gives these Exiles a 50% chance to bring a Wild Mercenary along with them.

Next, add Trarthan Scarab of Infamy; this converts the primary mercenaries that spawn into the Infamous variant and increases the number of random mercenary encounters within the map.

Finally, Trarthan Scarab of Renown forces all gear carried by mercenaries in the area to be converted to Unique quality.

As for Astrolabe, you technically don't have to include it, but a traditional Templar Astrolabe offers solid bonuses, such as yielding more currency, Scarabs, or other rewards during your mapping runs.

How to improve mapping efficiency?

To secure high-quality and high-quantity mercenaries for your Luminary Mercenary build, on top of the bonuses provided by the aforementioned items, you must first be selective about which maps you run.

Generally, it is best to choose maps with clear layouts that allow for rapid clearing; ideally, each run should take less than two minutes.

Top choices include Mesa or City Square, while Dunes, Strand, and Atoll are also viable options. Maps like Jungle Valley should be avoided whenever possible.

Next, you need to adjust the difficulty by rolling map modifiers, as this directly impacts your final returns. While eight-mod maps usually offer the highest yields, certain modifiers require caution or should be avoided entirely.

For instance, modifiers that increase monster life can cause Rogue Exiles' health to skyrocket, dragging out the encounter and reducing your success rate. Modifiers affecting critical strike chance, damage, or multipliers can also be problematic.

If you struggle with high-difficulty maps, an Alch and Go strategy on moderately difficult maps is a perfectly viable alternative. The underlying mechanics remain the same, but with fewer modifiers involved, the difficulty drops significantly.

Alternatively, if you want maximum ease and minimal hassle, you can simply run the maps as white (normal quality), clearing them without any added modifiers.

You can still achieve substantial returns this way because Rogue Exiles operate on an independent loot system; their rewards are unaffected by map item quantity, rarity, or other modifiers.

Once you've selected your map and difficulty, clear the monsters and the boss quickly, then look for duplicate altars, prioritizing unique item, scarab, and currency duplication.

This ensures that when you encounter and defeat mercenaries, the loot drop rate doubles, accelerating both your profit accumulation and the crafting efficiency for your Luminary Mercenary build.

If you encounter mercenaries with particularly troublesome mod combinations that cause your character to die repeatedly, simply bypass them and move to the next map; do not waste time stubbornly trying to defeat them.

Atlas Tree configuration

Beyond Scarabs, selecting the right passive skills is crucial for maximizing this build's potential.

If you prefer the high-difficulty mapping strategy mentioned earlier, prioritize unlocking the node that guarantees a 100% chance of encountering mercenaries.

Next, Contract Killers node allows your mercenaries to deal double damage to enemy mercenaries and Rogue Exiles. Loot and Pillage grants a 10% chance for mercenaries to drop all their equipped gear upon death, while also guaranteeing a minimum drop of two items.

Regarding Rogue Exile-related passives, unlocking Ruckus increases the chance of encountering additional Exiles, significantly boosting both potential rewards and difficulty. Nodes like Exiled Will and Royal Guard further increase the chances of doubled loot and Exile spawns.

If you plan to farm easier, standard maps, you should still prioritize the 100% mercenary encounter rate but also retain Remarkable Relics and Significant Troves to boost Scarab drop rates.

There is no need to invest in high-risk nodes or those focused on currency and unique item yields, as these benefits can be achieved through the use of Scarabs.

This concludes the overview of the common crafting strategy and workflow for Luminary Mercenary build. Feel free to further refine your gear and skills based on your personal preferences and needs!
