Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.4.0 Top 8 New Skills Ranked | What are Their Actual Effects?

Although still in early access, since the updates have become more stable, Path of Exile 2 has added new skills or significantly optimized existing ones with almost every new patch release, aiming to create a fairer game environment and experience.
Surprisingly, with the release of the new Druid class, Patch 0.4.0 introduced many new skills to the game! While most of them come from Druid, the skill gem mechanics mean that other classes can also utilize these skills!
Based on this, we will select the top 8 from over 20 new skills and introduce their effects and value in descending order, so you can use your creativity to build more builds and playstyles.

1. Lunar Blessing
This skill originates from Druid's wolf form and converts a portion of your normal damage into cold damage, summoning moonlight to deal additional AoE damage when attacking, and also knocking back enemies within a certain range.
More importantly, this skill can extend its buff duration by consuming your accumulated Rage. The versatility of these effects means that even if you don't transform into a wolf, or even if you're not a Druid, you can still benefit from Lunar Blessing.
Generally, we recommend casting this skill when your Rage is full to get the maximum cast time, and then combine it with other skills to increase your total damage output.
2. Walking Calamity
This skill is the top choice when you're looking for a damage partner for Lunar Blessing! Its effect is to convert physical damage into fire damage by summoning meteors of different sizes at different ranges.
To do this, you must first accumulate enough Glory and then consume 20 points to activate it. After that, you will not only gain additional fire damage, but your Rage will also automatically recover.
Although theoretically everyone can use this skill, we recommend adding this skill if you are using Fire Bear builds and want to further increase your fire damage; the effect will be even more significant!
3. Pounce
This is a shapeshift skill that transforms you into a werewolf, allowing you to jump to a target area and deal damage to enemies within a 2-meter radius. Upon landing, it also summons additional wolves as helpers.
From these aspects, Pounce only possesses basic offensive capabilities, so you might wonder why it ranks third? This is mainly due to its versatility: it can be useful whenever you need to close the distance or increase your movement speed.
More importantly, this skill also has an effect that automatically triggers Predator's Mark on the highest rarity enemy hit. Based on this, combining Pounce with skills like Freezing Mark and Cross Slash can create cool combos.
4. Eternal Rage
As a spirit reservation skill, Eternal Rage continuously restores Rage per second. On top of this, each stack of Rage increases your attack power by 1%, stacking up to 30 times, resulting in a 30% damage increase.
Considering that this skill requires 100 spirit to unlock, we recommend adding Eternal Rage only when using talisman-related builds that require sufficient Rage to maximize their effectiveness, or other transformation-based builds.
5. Flame Breath
This is a representative skill in wyvern form, allowing you to convert all physical damage into fire damage through a powerful and continuous flame attack skill, while also providing high attack speed and a flammable effect.
Since this skill can extend its channeling time by consuming Rage, you need to accumulate enough Rage before using it to maximize its skill effect.
Alternatively, this skill also allows you to gain extra lightning damage and reduce Rage consumption by consuming energy orbs. Generally, the best way to accumulate energy is by using Rend and Devour.
6. Cross Slash
As the most important part of the werewolf form combo, Cross Slash generates and detonates ice shards when you hit enemies with skills like Lunar Assault or Shred, causing a large-area explosion and cold damage.
More simply, you can think of Cross Slash as the built-in detonator for werewolf ice attacks, maximizing the damage output of all builds using this combo, easily dealing with most bosses by enhancing the cold damage and freezing effects inflicted on the target.
7. Furious Slam
This skill belongs to the bear form transformation skills and is suitable for players using Druid and Warrior classes and related builds.
Furious Slam consumes 10 Rage to unleash a powerful attack, increasing both damage and attack range, and leaving behind a jagged effect on the ground that lasts for 4 seconds.
This jagged ground effect can then interact with other abilities to trigger additional explosions, dealing massive damage to a single target. Additionally, this skill increases the enemy's stun accumulation rate by 60%, effectively disabling them.
Furious Slam's damage output is straightforward and devastating, making it a must-have for any player who prioritizes strength-based gameplay!
8. Entangle
As an embodiment of Druid's ability to manipulate plants, Entangle possesses a "gentle" yet deadly power unlike any of the skills above.
Its specific effect is to summon a vine that creates a continuously extending fissure, damaging enemies along its path. While the fissure exists, vines will sprout from it, entangling nearby enemies, dealing damage and slowing them down.
Based on this, combined with other Druid skills in human form, you can craft very powerful plant-based Druid builds. However, considering its limitations in terms of class synergy, it only ranks eighth on this list.
These are the top 8 new skills introduced in The Last of the Druids. Ultimately, which ones are best suited for you and your builds will depend on your in-game experience. We hope you have a successful journey in Wraeclast!
