As a key component of Patch 0.3.0, Act 4, newly added to Path of Exile 2, introduces a new story, quests, and rewards based on a new area. You'll need to fully explore Ngamakanui archipelago, learn about it, and claim all the loot.
Act 4 features four side quests, each with a new boss. Completing them not only grants you weapon parts needed to achieve the final mission objective, but also rewards you with POE 2 currency to upgrade your gear, accelerating your progress into the endgame.
This article will explain the key steps for completing these four side quests, helping you tackle them more efficiently and effectively.
1. Hostile Takeover
This quest is crucial because, in addition to the basic rewards, completing it unlocks Shoreline Hideout and the automated trading system. Key NPC Ange will also permanently manage your trades. Below are the steps to complete this quest.
- Step 1. Enter the game and reach Kingsmarch.
- Step 2. Find NPC Ange at the dock.
- Step 3. Travel by boat to Whakapanu Island.
- Step 4. Find the boss Diamora, the Song of Death, in Singing Caverns and defeat her.
- Step 5. Return to Kingsmarch and interact with Ange to gain the relevant permissions.
2. Tribal Medicine
Continue to travel to Ngakanu Island and visit NPC Kaimana to receive the quest. It's worth noting that the final requirement of this quest is to defeat Great White One boss on Whakapanu Island to obtain its shark fin, so you can also reach there first to start the fight.
This boss is located near the shoreline of Shark Pit. It will jump out of the water and bite you with its jaws, dealing bleeding damage. It can also move freely on the beach. The best way to deal with it is to equip skills and gear that deal lightning damage.
After killing the boss, you'll automatically receive a Shark Fin. Bring it to Kaimana, who can then use it to heal Blood Plague. Kaimana will then offer three uncut gems, you can choose one as the reward, and we generally recommend choosing the rarer Spirit Gem.
3. Forgotten Bounty
While exploring Kedge Bay to complete the main quest, Dark Mists, you may stumble upon a Torn Map Piece, which will immediately activate Forgotten Bounty.
This side quest requires you to collect four Torn Map Pieces, located in various locations throughout the archipelago:
- 1. While exploring Kedge Bay, you'll find the first piece (which also triggers the quest) in Dead Man's chest in the first zone.
- 2. Travel to Whakapanu Island and find a petrified pirate holding the second map piece.
- 3. Explore all the caves on Shrike Island; one of them is filled with corpses, and the third fragment is hidden inside.
- 4. Journey deep into the optional island, Isle of Kin, to find the fourth fragment.
Once you've obtained all the fragments, bring them to Makoru to unlock Plunder's Point, a new location marked on the map. Continue there and find some dynamite and a detonator on the island. Then, interact with Dannig to learn the dynamite's purpose.
Next, follow the map's instructions to place the dynamite, which will then explode to reveal hidden treasure as a reward! To maximize the amount of loot, it's recommended to center the dynamite near the detonator and space it out appropriately to cover all loot nodes.
4. Trial Of The Ancestors
Find Matiki on Isle of Kin. He'll convince Makoru to lead you to Eye of Hinekora. After arriving there and disembarking, you'll find Matiki again in a passageway.
He and Navali, a representative of Hinekora, will ask you to look into a nearby bowl. Hinekora's power will then separate your soul from your body. You'll then need to complete three trials to prove your worthiness.
- Kaom's Test: You'll battle enemies in a fire-filled environment.
- Maata's Test: You'll encounter a shaman who fires a barrage of poisonous shards at you.
- Rakiata's Test: You'll encounter a warrior who summons waves of water to attack you during combat.
After completing the test, continue your journey to Halls of the Dead. You'll find a map pointing to the location of the ancestral warriors and treasure. You'll need to follow the instructions to find the final boss in a secret chamber.
Before that, however, you'll need to complete three more trials. Crucially, these trials grant you tattoos that provide combat bonuses.
- Ngamahu's Test: Offers tattoos that grant +5 strength or +5% fire resistance.
- Tasalio's Test: Offers tattoos that grant +5 intelligence or +5% cold resistance.
- Tawhoa's Test: Offers tattoos that grant +5 dexterity or +5% lightning resistance.
Reaching the end of the hall will lead you to Navali, whose pet is the final boss, Yama, the White. This boss deals chaos damage with volleys and area-of-effect attacks, requiring you to dodge them by jumping behind obstacles.
After completing the battle, Navali will reward you with a tattoo that grants 2 weapon set skill points.
These are the main steps for completing all four side quests. However, you should pay special attention to the boss battles within each quest, as they are the most challenging parts of the quest. Defeating them will easily net you rewards!
