Just as you might be waiting for a new livestream to learn more about Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.5, the development team has dropped a major update: the launch date for version 1.0 has been confirmed!

Furthermore, during Opening Night Live event at Gamescom 2026, PoE 2 released a dedicated trailer for the new Duelist class and announced sign-up rewards to encourage players to join the 1.0 launch.

In this article, we'll combine all known information to bring you the latest details on Path of Exile 2 version 1.0 and outline the preparations you can make right now.

Path of Exile 2 1.0 Release Date Confirmed: Gamescom 2026 Trailer Reveals New Duelist Class & Free Registration Rewards

Full release date confirmed

Path of Exile 2 will launch its full version 1.0 on December 11 PST this year. This marks the end of the roughly two-year early access period, and the game will officially transition to a free-to-play model.

This schedule aligns with the development team's earlier promise to launch the full version within the year, so major changes are unlikely. It is worth noting that, unlike some games plagued by constant delays, PoE 2's approach has really won over the player base.

Duelist confirmed

Path of Exile 2 was originally planned to launch with 12 base classes, each featuring three Ascendancy options. So far, only about three-quarters of this goal has been realized, meaning the majority of the remaining classes are expected to arrive with the 1.0 launch.

To build hype and offer a glimpse into future updates, the team released the first trailer for the new Duelist class at the recently opened Gamescom 2026, showcasing potential new skills.

This appears to be a sword-based class designed to introduce the fast-paced, aggressive sword melee combat that the game currently lacks.

Additionally, while the trailer lacks explicit text descriptions, following the established pattern for new PoE 2 class launches, version 1.0 will probably debut with two Ascendancy classes for Duelist, expected to be Gladiator and Slayer.

If you played the first game, you can infer that Gladiator likely focuses on dual-wielding swords or sword-and-shield setups, emphasizing high-block-rate builds. Slayer, meanwhile, primarily fights using two-handed greatswords.

New skills and potential applications

Based on the trailer, the new skills arriving with Duelist include one that resembles a basic Dual Strike, potentially boasting high DPS.

Additionally, there appears to be a skill akin to Lightning Slash or Lightning Sweep, as well as a new skill that functions as a basic strike but shares similarities with Whirling Blades.

As you know, skill usage in Path of Exile 2 relies on socketed gems rather than being strictly tied to a specific class; these skills should offer a wide range of applications and exciting gameplay possibilities upon the game's 1.0 launch.

It also looks like PoE 2 1.0 is introducing a movement skill similar to Flicker Strike, though this will undoubtedly be a brand-new version designed for swords.

Notably, the trailer seems to showcase a new piece of gear: Genos Blade. Once the game launches, this item, along with other potential sword-based gear, will likely be tied to interesting combat encounters or drop sources for you to discover and unlock.

Registration rewards and claiming tips

To reward the player base and encourage more people to join Path of Exile 2 when it officially launches this December, the development team has introduced a registration rewards campaign tied to the 1.0 release.

Starting now, whether you are a veteran player or a newcomer to the series, you can enter a valid email address on the designated webpage, provided you have at least one PoE account, to receive milestone rewards.

There are five milestone rewards in total; the first unlocks immediately, while the remaining four unlock progressively as the milestone goals are reached:

  • Level 1: Soulflame Crown Helmet Attachment
  • Level 2 (1M): Soulflame Weapon Effect
  • Level 3 (2M): Soulflame Portal
  • Level 4 (3M): Chained Chimera Wings
  • Level 5 (4M): Scourgeborn Boar Pet

However, the exact meaning of these numerical targets remains unclear; they could refer to the number of registrations or serve as progress indicators for a new community-wide event launching alongside version 1.0.

After registering, an email containing a redemption code will be sent to your inbox once Path of Exile 2 version 1.0 launches on December 11; simply enter the code on the designated webpage to claim your rewards.

In addition to needing a PoE account and an email address, here are a few extra tips to ensure you successfully claim the registration rewards:

  • The rewards are available to both new and returning players across all platforms.
  • The email address used for registration does not need to be linked to your PoE 2 account.
  • Milestone rewards cannot be obtained through any other channels.
  • Each redemption code is valid for one-time use only, and each PoE 2 account is limited to a single code.
  • Do not unsubscribe from the mailing list before the codes are sent, or you will not receive the email containing your code.
  • The developers will announce when code distribution is complete; if you haven't received your email by then, be sure to reach out for assistance.

Expect more news regarding version 1.0 to roll out over the coming months, ExileCon 2026 in early November is definitely one to watch. But before that, let's get ready for version 0.5.5!
