Helldivers 2 Termicide 2.0 Guide: Discover the secret to unlock the ultimate R-4 Hyena Marksman Rifle!

Category: Helldivers 2 Posted: Jul 02, 2026 Views: 4

While the release date for Warhammer 40k Legendary Warbond remains unclear, Helldivers 2 launched Termicide 2.0 on June 30. This not only gives you something to do in the game but also allows you to earn rewards to prepare for unlocking future Warbonds.

The name implies this isn't the first time the event has run. In fact, the original Termicide, a gas designed to wipe out Terminids, caused some of them to mutate, triggering a dangerous corruption. Termicide 2.0 is the initiative launched to address this issue.

So, how do you participate in Termicide 2.0 and earn rewards during actual gameplay? We'll walk you through it.

Helldivers 2 Termicide 2.0 Guide: Discover the secret to unlock the ultimate R-4 Hyena Marksman Rifle!

Termicide 2.0 overview

This campaign event is also known as Terminid Control System (TCS); the term Termicide actually refers to the lethal gas originally designed to eradicate Terminids.

From a narrative standpoint, after the initial Termicide campaign backfired, Super Earth sought to develop a new TCS to rectify past failures, though this move provoked increasingly frequent attacks from Terminids.

To protect the new system, Super Earth launched Operation Celestial Fence to physically repel the enemy. In gameplay terms, this translates to a series of Major Orders that you and other players must complete together.

Termicide 2.0 campaign is expected to consist of multiple stages of Major Orders; completing each one advances the defense effort and grants rewards. Upon full completion, players will earn the ultimate reward: R-4 Hyena Marksman Rifle.

How to participate in Termicide 2.0?

While the specific details of future Major Orders remain unknown, the primary enemy type is undoubtedly Terminids, so mastering how to counter them is crucial.

As one of the three major hostile factions in Helldivers 2, Terminids are massive, insectoid creatures with diverse forms. Most possess multi-legged, spider-like anatomies, leading players to simply call them Bugs.

They are characterized by rapid reproduction and massive population numbers, attacking in swarms using sharp claws and acidic bile. However, they are slow-moving and particularly vulnerable to fire damage.

Therefore, your top priority is to equip as many weapons with fire damage output as possible, such as Breaker shotgun, Incendiary Breaker, and others.

If you don't have them, it is a good idea to buy Helldivers 2 Super Credits on IGGM to unlock the relevant Warbonds containing these weapons.

Beyond primary weapons, maximizing the benefits from Stratagems and Support Weapons is crucial. Artillery-style Support Weapons are excellent choices, and for Stratagems, Orbital Laser or Orbital Gas Strike are worth considering.

When engaging Terminids in actual combat, in addition to maintaining firepower and high mobility, watch out for enemies spewing orange mist, this signals that they are summoning more Terminids!

Fortunately, if you eliminate the spewing Terminid quickly enough, the summoning process will be interrupted.

As Termicide 2.0 campaign progresses, you will probably encounter a wider variety of Terminids and face increased overall difficulty. Consequently, the importance of your armor loadout grows when completing later Major Orders.

Furthermore, Terminids primarily rely on melee attacks, with the exception of Bile Spewers, which can spray acid from a distance, and generally lack high intelligence.

To boost your efficiency, you can lure enemies into combat environments you are more familiar with, allowing you to fight under advantageous conditions.

Choosing the best combat location

Helldivers 2 features numerous planets where you can land and fight. Each planet boasts a unique biome and hosts different types of enemies.

Regarding the current Major Order, Brilliance, a planet added earlier this year, is a great location for advancing Termicide 2.0 campaign. Its biome consists of warm forests interspersed with small patches of grassland and lakes.

Here, you are likely to encounter Dragonroac. This is a flying Terminid that attacks by diving and spraying flammable bile. The best way to destroy it is to target its face with anti-tank weaponry.

Additionally, Dragonroac's wings absorb explosive damage, making them difficult to destroy. If you cannot hit its face or head for any reason, aim for its torso instead.

Is Termicide 2.0 worth participating in?

As the first concrete manifestation of Helldivers 2's efforts to refine its campaign and Major Order gameplay, Termicide 2.0 holds significant importance, both in terms of mechanics and narrative lore.

Even if you expend some resources to complete it, the rewards will quickly replenish what you lost, ensuring you come out of the battle ahead.

So, whenever you have the time, we highly recommend teaming up with friends to advance Termicide 2.0 initiative and contribute to Super Earth's plan to purge Terminids!

An interesting rumor

There is speculation within the community that the introduction of Termicide 2.0 in Helldivers 2, specifically the construction of Celestial Fence, serves as a satirical metaphor for the real-world U.S.-Mexico border wall.

While Helldivers 2 has a history of incorporating political elements, the truth is that you should probably focus more on whether the new event is fun and, more importantly, when all those bugs will finally be fixed!

That covers everything for now. Terminids are closing in, so get moving, Helldivers!
