With the continued updates to FC 27 Ultimate Team content, players have received a noteworthy Club Member exclusive reward. The official release features a special Evolution inspired by Brazilian legendary center-back David Luiz, allowing players to develop a qualified player into a defensively-minded core.
The appeal of this Evolution lies not only in the significant boost to defensive attributes but also in the different development paths it offers.
Whether you want to build a traditional Center-Back or utilize a player's existing speed, passing, and agility to develop a defensive player capable of participating in midfield organization, there are options available.
Acquisition Requirements and Player Requirements
Luiz Legacy is a Club Member exclusive reward. Players must have logged in and played both FC 26 and FC 27 with the same account before November 1, 2026, to claim EVO in Rewards tab. It's not a paid EVO sold directly in the store, but rather a reward for active players of both versions.
Besides eligibility, Luiz Legacy also has specific restrictions on the player items used for the evolution, as follows:
- Overall: Max. 82
- Position: CB
- Excluded Position: LB, RB
- Max PS: 7
- Max PS+: 0
- Pace: Max. 85
These restrictions mean that players cannot only look at OVR when selecting players; they must also check the original card's position, speed, and PlayStyles count. If a player already has PlayStyle+, even if all other attributes meet the requirements, they cannot enter this Evolution.
If your current squad lacks a suitable center-back, you can buy FC 27 coins to find suitable upgrade targets in the transfer market, providing more flexibility in team building and experimenting with different upgrade combinations.
Upgrade Content in Three Stages
Level 1
Level 1 raises Interceptions, Defensive Awareness, and Sliding Tackle to 85, while also granting the player Block+. For a CB card with original attributes around 80, this upgrade significantly improves defensive performance.
Judging from the first stage's enhancements, Luiz Legacy clearly leans towards the traditional FIFA 27 CB role. It doesn't overly pursue attacking or dribbling abilities, prioritizing the most crucial defensive attributes for center-backs, and then enhancing blocking capabilities in the penalty area through Block+.
Level 2
Level 2 further enhances the defender's mobility. Acceleration and Sprint Speed receive a maximum increase of 15 points, while Heading Accuracy, Standing Tackle, Jumping, and Strength are also strengthened. This stage is particularly suitable for players who already possess decent speed but lack defensive and physical strength.
Level 3
Upon entering Level 3, Luiz Legacy offers three different enhancement paths.
Path 1: The Finisher
This path primarily continues David Luiz's strengths in long-range shooting and set pieces, enhancing Shot Powe, Long Shots, FK Accuracy, Curve, and Composure, and acquiring Dead Ball PlayStyle.
However, Dead Ball only provides a basic PlayStyle, with relatively limited actual bonuses. Therefore, this path is more suitable for players who want to retain David Luiz's attacking characteristics or occasionally involve center-backs in set-piece attacks.
Path 2: The Champion
This is the more desirable option of the three paths. Building upon already sufficiently enhanced defensive attributes, it further improves Vision, Short Pass, and Long Pass, while also acquiring Long Ball Pass PlayStyle. Furthermore, Standing Tackle and Sliding Tackle will continue to increase to 86.
This means players are no longer just responsible for interceptions and blocks, but can also take on the tasks of distributing the ball from the back and launching quick counter-attacks.
For FC 27 players who like to organize attacks from the back or frequently use long passes to find space in the attacking third, this path offers more practical tactical value.
Path 3: A National Hero
This path focuses more on further enhancing speed and physical strength. After upgrading, Acceleration and Sprint Speed reach 79, Strength increases to 84, and Aggression reaches 83, while also gaining the Relentless PlayStyle.
It is suitable for players who want to further enhance their physical strength and match endurance. However, compared to the previous two paths, Relentless offers relatively limited direct defensive assistance to CB, especially when you already have Block+.
Suitable Players
While Luiz Legacy significantly improves defensive attributes, the actual performance of different players after evolution is not entirely the same. Here are a few types of players worth considering.
Fikayo Tomori: A Balance of Speed and Defense
Tomori is a worthwhile priority. He already possesses good speed, so he doesn't need to overly rely on the pace boost from evolution, allowing him to focus more on defensive attributes and physicality.
Choosing Level 3 Path 1 also grants Dead Ball PlayStyle. While this isn't a traditional center-back setup, it further enhances the player's functionality.
Mario Gila: Suitable for Players Seeking Agility
Mario Gila's strength lies in the balance between speed and agility. Compared to traditional center-backs who rely solely on physicality, he's better suited for tactics requiring frequent positioning adjustments, chasing opponents, and participating in backfield play.
If your team frequently uses a high defensive line, or if you want your center-backs to actively participate in defensive coverage, then Mario Gila is worth considering.
Victor Lindelöf: A Stable Traditional Center-Back
Lindelöf is a more reliable choice. His advantage isn't in an overly aggressive speed build, but rather in the more comprehensive defensive capabilities gained through Luiz Legacy. For players looking to acquire a center-back who can consistently remain in the starting lineup, these players are worth prioritizing.
Besides the players mentioned above, Jerdy Schouten, Jeppe Tverskov, Yazan Al Arab, Zeno Debast, and Emmanuel Agbadou are also worth considering.
Is Luiz Legacy worth investing in?
For players who have already obtained Club Member status, this Evolution is definitely worth investing in.
Its core value lies not only in improving a player's OVR, but also in providing crucial Block+ and further enhancing attributes such as Defending, Physicality, and Pace. For center-backs who are already well-rounded but lack a strong defensive playstyle, this evolution can provide a significant boost.
FUT 27's Evolution system is designed to allow players to break through the limitations of existing player cards and create lineups that better suit their individual tactical needs. Instead of everyone choosing the same popular center-backs, it's better to take advantage of this free reward to develop a defensive core that truly suits your team.
