Diablo 4 patch 3.2.3 will be released on October 14th. While not a large-scale content update, it addresses several of the most pressing issues raised by players in Season 15, particularly the persistent Seasonal questline bug and Horadric Cube affix reroll problem. This update also includes optimizations to the boss fight in Waking Nightmares and the Necromancer class quest, among other things.
Seasonal Questline Bug Fix: Splinters of Evil Lock-in Issue

One of the most frustrating issues in Season 15 was Seasonal questline lock-in bug caused by Splinters of Evil. In normal gameplay, players needed to complete Seasonal questline before they could obtain and select different Splinters.
Each Splinter unlocks a separate reputation board, eventually unlocking Prime Evil Powers. These powers enhance a character's periodic ground bursts and provide bonuses to various endgame events.
However, a bug allowed players to use Splinter before completing a Seasonal questline. If this happened, the character would be unable to progress the questline, and the unlocking of Prime Evil Powers would be permanently blocked.
Patch 3.2.3 fixed this logic flaw, ensuring that premature use of Splinters would no longer cause a quest to be locked. However, the developer's note explicitly states that this fix only prevents the bug from recurring and will not reset the quest progress of affected characters.
This means that players who encountered the bug need to take the following steps: Create a new character in the same partition (Normal/Hardcore and Normal/SSF) and complete Seasonal questline with that character. After completing the questline, Prime Evil Powers will be unlocked for all characters in that partition, including the one previously blocked by the bug.

Horadric Cube Reroll Fix
Horadric Cube reroll function previously had a frustrating issue: some affixes could not be regenerated.
Affected affixes included:
- Impairment Reduction
- Barrier Generation
- +Healing
- Critical Strike Damage
These affixes would stubbornly occupy affix slots, hindering players from optimizing their gear. After the fix, players can use the corresponding Tuning Prisms to target and replace these affixes.
For example, Impairment Reduction can be removed using Pragmatic Tuning Prism, while Aggressive Tuning Prism targets Critical Strike Damage. Players who want to optimize their gear more efficiently but lack sufficient inventory can also Diablo 4 items buy to supplement the resources needed for gear progression.
It's worth noting that regarding the reforging issue of Critical Strike Damage, current community testing suggests that this fix may primarily target affixes on gear and may not cover Seals. Some players have found that certain Seals with critical strike damage affixes still cannot be re-rolled.
Baal Loot Pickup Optimization and Boss Fight Fixes
Baal is a significant source of Mythic Uniques in Diablo 4 Season 15, and this patch brings a substantial improvement for Baal farming players.
Previously, after defeating Baal, Tyrael spawn location could obscure Baal loot, making it difficult to pick up. This issue was particularly pronounced among gamepad players - gamepad controls required being close to the item to collect it. After this fix, the loot pickup experience will be significantly improved.
In addition, the patch also fixes two boss fight-related issues:
- Sandstone Golem in Horadric Library might not respawn after a player dies in combat.
- Countess in Forgotten Tower could pass through the fog wall, preventing the boss encounter process.
Necromancer Quest Optimizations and Other Improvements
Necromancer players also received good news: the issue in the class mechanic quest Call of the Underworld where not all monsters dropped Unbroken Bones has been fixed. This fix will significantly reduce the farming time required to complete this class quest.
Furthermore, the patch includes several improvements to stability, performance, visuals, and UI.
Issues Not Covered by the Patch and Community Feedback
While patch 3.2.3 addresses several substantial bugs, several issues raised by the Diablo 4 community were not included in this update.
Splinter stacking issue persists
Each Splinter of a Prime Evil has a stack limit of 1; duplicate Splinters cannot be picked up, effectively wasting resources. Players have repeatedly appealed on the official forums for the ability to stack Splinters or at least store them in stashes, but the patch notes make no mention of this.
Given the already low drop rate of Splinters of a Prime Evil and their completely random drop types, the inability to stack them further exacerbates player frustration. Some players have reported that even switching Prime Evils to experience different event bonuses is impossible due to the difficulty in obtaining the corresponding Splinters.
Helltide Portal Return Location Issue
According to player reports, after entering Waking Nightmare from Helltide and completing the process, the character is transported back to town instead of the position entered through the portal. This means two additional loading screens and a significant amount of travel time. The official response to this issue is still pending.
Helltide Performance Issue
S15 players have widely reported experiencing lag in Helltide, especially when multiple Warlock characters are present simultaneously. The patch notes only vaguely mention stability, performance, visual, and UI improvements, without specifying whether Helltide optimizations are included.
Overall, while Diablo 4 Patch 3.2.3 didn't bring any new gameplay or class balance adjustments, it did provide useful fixes for issues such as quest locking, gear reforging, and boss fight progression. For players still aiming for the endgame content in Season 15, this update is worth watching.
