Diablo 2 Resurrected Ladder Season 15 Progression Guide | From Early Leveling to Endgame Farming

Diablo 2 Resurrected remains a classic that continues to attract a large player base, which is more than enough to demonstrate its lasting appeal. Many players still return to the game again and again. With every return, there always seems to be an opportunity to become a little stronger and gain a deeper understanding of the game.

If you have recently returned to Ladder Season 15, here are some practical tips for the early stages of the ladder, starting new characters, and optimizing your build and farming strategies later on.

Diablo 2 Resurrected Ladder Season 15 Progression Guide | From Early Leveling to Endgame Farming

Early Leveling Tips

Leveling

Early leveling in Diablo 2 Resurrected requires choosing the right areas and difficulty. The amount of experience granted by monsters is not fixed, as it changes depending on the level difference between your character and the monsters.

Ideally, your character should remain within a relatively close level range to the monsters while focusing on areas that your Build can clear easily and efficiently. If you are unsure where to go, you can refer to community-made lists of recommended farming areas based on character level.

Runeword

Next, make use of Runewords as early as possible. During the early progression stage, keep an eye out for common Bases and try to create suitable early D2R Runewords for your character as soon as possible. The power boost provided by Runewords is generally more consistent than relying on scattered Rare item drops.

Leveling Build

If your priority is reaching higher levels as quickly as possible, you can also consider a Build that is better suited to early progression. This is not mandatory, but it usually makes the process much smoother.

For example, certain Fire-based Druid or Warlock Builds offer strong damage and relatively simple gameplay. Even after entering Hell Difficulty, they can still farm specific areas safely despite encountering immune monsters.

Once you reach Hell Difficulty, you can also respec into a Magic Build, an Echoing Strike Build, or continue using a Fire-based setup.

Trading

During the early stages, you can pick up valuable items such as Rings, Amulets, Caster gear, and items with charges that can be traded for useful resources. However, do not fill your inventory with everything you find or make frequent trips back to town, as efficiency remains the key.

The gold can be used to trade for useful gear, Bases, potions, scrolls, and eventually acquire a Teleport Staff.

At around Level 23 to 24, Ormus in Act 3 is one of the more ideal vendors to visit. You can also open a Cow Level portal near Akara and repeatedly enter and leave it to refresh her inventory, allowing you to quickly cycle through her available items.

Farming Strategies

Farming Strategies

During the early and later stages after entering Hell Difficulty, the following farming options are worth considering.

Herald Farming

D2R Season 15 has indeed increased the drop rate for Heralds to some extent, but they are not the best farming option unless you have a highly specialized Build specifically designed to hunt Heralds.

First, the drop rate for Sunder Charms remains very low, even when facing a Tier 5 Herald. The drop rate from a Tier 5 Herald is only around 1/150.

A Tier 5 Herald also has extremely high health and difficulty, so defeating one can take a considerable amount of time if you do not have a specialized Build.

Mephisto and Andariel

A classic and still effective strategy is farming Mephisto. If you have a suitable ranged Build and obtain a Teleport staff, you can teleport directly to the second level of Durance of Hate to find Mephisto.

Andariel remains a viable option as well, although the drop rates of some of her Charms have been reduced compared with the past. The layout of Catacombs between Levels 2 and 3 also follows certain patterns, so finding her is not particularly difficult.

Terror Zones

In addition to Act bosses, you can also focus on naturally occurring Terror Zones. You do not necessarily have to farm Heralds continuously.

Monsters in Terror Zones have higher levels and often provide solid XP, although the exact rewards depend on the area you encounter. As long as the area suits your Build, it is worth farming.

You need to understand what your Build excels at. For example, a Hammerdin can comfortably farm Chaos Sanctuary, while Fist of the Heavens Builds can also handle the area.

Cold-based Builds, such as a Blizzard Sorceress, can easily farm Ancient Tunnels in Act 2, while Fire-based Builds are well suited to Stony Tomb in Act 2.

Worldstone Shards

During early farming, you will collect quite a few Worldstone Shards. It is recommended to save them rather than use them immediately.

Once your Build is strong enough and your farming efficiency is sufficiently high, you can consider using them to continuously open Herald encounters. This is generally not the best approach at the very beginning of a Ladder Season.

Ancients mechanic allows players to Terrorize Act bosses and defeat them to obtain Barbarian Statues. However, this is also more suitable after your character has become well established, because you need to make more efficient use of Worldstone Shards. Of course, you can also join someone else's game to complete the process.

Overall, during the early progression stage of Diablo 2 Resurrected Season 15 Ladder, focus on farming areas that you know well and can clear efficiently. If you want to farm more rewarding areas such as Chaos Sanctuary, your character needs to have a solid foundation of gear.
