CoD BO7 Season 4 Controversial Reset Feature Operator Prestige that is actually worth the grind: How to improve your CR faster?

Category: CoD: Black Ops 7 Posted: Jun 05, 2026 Views: 9

Black Ops 7 Season 04 has officially launched, bringing a host of new modes, gear, and maps for you to explore! Significant changes have also been made to the endgame experience.

While the endgame updates include various adjustments to weapon performance and skill effects, the key new feature requiring your attention is Operator Prestige.

Since this feature entails resetting elements like skills and gear, you might be unsure of its actual significance or whether it is worth utilizing. We have created this guide to answer your questions.

CoD BO7 Season 4 Controversial Reset Feature Operator Prestige that is actually worth the grind: How to improve your CR faster?

What is Operator Prestige?

Introduced in BO7 Season 4 for the endgame phase, Operator Prestige allows you to choose whether to advance your character further into Operator Prestige after reaching the maximum Combat Rating (CR).

You can level up your character three times within this phase (meaning Operator Prestige level cap is 3). Each level-up unlocks a specific bonus:

  • Level 1: Allows you to equip an additional Exotic Skill.
  • Level 2: Allows you to equip an additional Nightmare Skill.
  • Level 3: Allows you to equip a 4th Skill Track.

Exotic Skills significantly boost your combat efficiency; for example, Shattered Shield skill stuns and damages nearby enemies when your armor breaks.

These skills can be upgraded up to Level 3 and are obtained by completing World Boss events or opening Exotic Skill chests.

Nightmare Skills also provide unique combat bonuses, but unlike other skills, they are bound to specific Operators. They can be obtained by completing Glitch Fractures.

The 4th Skill Track introduces a new skill upgrade path, further enriching and strengthening your character build.

However, please note that entering Operator Prestige resets your original Combat Rating, equipped Field Acquisitions, and the rarity levels of your weapons and related items.

If you have played ARC Raiders, you might find this similar to that game's Expedition mechanic: wiping the slate clean allows you to rediscover the fun of leveling up, while still granting you special perks to ensure a rewarding experience.

How to quickly earn CR points?

If you want to make the most of Operator Prestige and complete all three upgrades, you will need to go through three resets. Combined with the initial character leveling process, this means completing CR progression cycle four times in total.

While CoD BO7 places no time limit on this progression, completing all upgrades quickly allows you to benefit sooner from the combat efficiency boosts provided by Operator Prestige bonuses.

Collecting Power Cubes

The primary function of this item is to provide points that increase your Combat Rating. These appear as blue cubes found across Zones 1 through 4; however, Power Cubes in more dangerous zones yield more points.

Therefore, the fastest way to level up is to collect as many blue energy cubes as possible within Tier 4 Zone. Additionally, keep an eye out for players engaging in the following modes; joining them can quickly boost your Combat Rating:

  • Command Center: Eliminate a Guild Commander on Avalon map.
  • Prime Target: A cooperative objective requiring the elimination of a designated, high-threat Target Officer or elite enemy.
  • Surprise Shipment: A fast-paced mode where you approach specific container spawn points and eliminate enemies to secure loot.
  • Grid Takedowns: Destroy a Guild Charge to prevent it from detonating.

Notably, for Grid Takedowns, you can still earn the reward by simply running away after initiating the mission.

Beyond Tier 4 zone, Power Cubes found in Nightmare Zones within Tiers 1-3 are worth 750 points, making them well worth collecting.

Once you have gathered the cubes, you can focus on completing high-value Tier 3 or Tier 4 missions, choosing the tier that best suits your gear strength.

Other challenges that award Combat Rating Points

In addition to collecting Power Cubes through the activities mentioned above, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 endgame offers various other ways to rapidly accumulate points and boost your character's Combat Rating.

For instance, you can defeat Observation System and Carnifex Adjudicator Robot (commonly known as Oscar) in Zombie mode, or participate in world events like Guild Strikes.

Oscar is a unique enemy; it generally won't attack unless provoked. This robot is shielded by UFO drones that block damage from standard weapons, so you should prioritize destroying them first.

Additionally, this enemy possesses a special zombie-buffing effect. If you are hit by its targeted attack, you not only take damage but also cause nearby zombies to become significantly faster and more aggressive.

Generally, the best strategy for taking down Oscar isn't relying on high-firepower weapons, but rather utilizing environmental features, such as natural sunlight beams, to destroy it.

Mega Abomination is another boss worth farming. Defeating it not only boosts your rating but can also drop an Exotic Weapon Case containing a wealth of rare loot.

Should you use Operator Prestige?

Overall, the bonuses gained from the three tiers of Operator Prestige are well worth it, provided you have the time to complete at least four upgrades.

If you are skilled enough, this might not be difficult, though it is certainly more of a grind for casual players. Ultimately, whether to utilize this mechanic depends on your playstyle and available time.

That said, for players engaging in high-level BO7 matches, resetting levels and gear is essential; it ensures there is always the motivation and room to explore new combat styles.

That covers everything for now. Season 4 awaits, good luck!
