Bizarre Lineage: What Should You Do First? Complete Beginner Progression Guide

As a game themed around JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Bizarre Lineage blends Stand collection, character progression, and boss raids into a cohesive experience.

Whether you are a JoJo fan or new to this genre, the sheer number of systems available at the start can be overwhelming, making it difficult to know where to begin. Without understanding these mechanics, even obtaining a rare Stand won't allow you to unleash its full potential.

This beginner's guide covers the core aspects of Bizarre Lineage, helping new players avoid common pitfalls, accelerate early-game progression, and smooth transition into mid- and late-game content.

Stands

For players just starting Bizarre Lineage, the most important system is Stand. There are currently 17 types of Stands in the game. The most common way to acquire one is by using a Stand Arrow; however, many new players make the mistake of endlessly grinding for Arrows while ignoring Stand's crucial attributes.

Every time you obtain a Stand using an Arrow, not only is Stand itself random, but its Stats and Personality are also randomly generated. After obtaining a new Stand, you should immediately check these two values. Personality acts as an innate passive effect - ranging from Common to Mythical quality - and the bonuses provided by different Personalities vary significantly.

Even if Stand you pull isn't one of the popular characters from JoJo series, it can still perform exceptionally well if it has excellent Stats and Personality traits.

In addition to Stand itself, each one comes with three Perk slots. Many players mistakenly believe these Perks are exclusive to specific JoJo Stands, but that isn't the case. Perks can be equipped on any Stand; simply slotting them into the four available spaces grants you the corresponding stat boosts or effects.

Furthermore, you can acquire additional Perks through the in-game shop and side quests, allowing you to freely customize your own unique build.

Arrows

Standard Stand Arrows are primarily obtained during Meteor Shower events. In Bizarre Lineage, Meteor Showers occur near Morioh Station (specifically by Bus Stop 1); when the meteors fall, they drop Stand Arrows.

Therefore, whenever the game notifies you of a Meteor Shower, heading straight to Bus Stop 1 is almost always the right move. Even without a meteor shower, meteorites spawn randomly on the map, offering a chance to obtain a standard Stand Arrow.

Lucky Arrows are much rarer than standard arrows. While they also spawn on the map, their primary sources are Boss Raids - such as Kira, Jotaro, and Dio raids - and Legendary Chests.

Many Bizarre Lineage players believe a Lucky Arrow guarantees a high-quality Stand; in reality, it guarantees a Stand with a Skin (cosmetic variant), not necessarily a Legendary or Mythical tier Stand.

Since some Stands in Bizarre Lineage do not have Skins, they are excluded from Lucky Arrow's drop pool. Consequently, it is relatively easier to obtain high-quality Stands that do have Skins - such as The World - making Lucky Arrow far more valuable overall than a standard Arrow.

Sub-Abilities

There are currently three Sub-Abilities in Bizarre Lineage: Vampire, Hamon, and Cyborg.

To unlock Vampire Sub-Ability, you must first obtain a Stone Mask and then complete Elder Vampire questline. Stone Masks drop randomly from Rare Chests (or higher-tier chests) and have a very low chance of spawning directly in the open world.

Hamon Sub-Ability, which boosts basic attack damage, is obtained simply by finding Jonathan and completing his quest. Cyborg Sub-Ability is unlocked by speaking to NPC Rudol von Stroheim.

Acquiring a Sub-Ability grants you an entirely new set of skills, making mob grinding, questing, and boss battles much easier; therefore, it is highly recommended to obtain one as early as possible.

Leveling Up

If your goal is to reach the max level quickly, Mission Board is arguably the most efficient method in Bizarre Lineage. Compared to main story quests, Mission Board offers more experience points and allows for faster completion.

Tasks usually involve simple objectives like transporting items or defeating a few NPCs. Each completion yields thousands of XP, and the rewards scale up as your level increases.

Grinding from level 1 to 50 typically takes only about an hour. Since you can repeatedly complete Mission Board tasks regardless of your Prestige status, this is currently the most recommended leveling path for beginners in Bizarre Lineage.

After leveling up your character, you also need to continuously increase your Stand's Conjuring level to unlock more skills. The fastest way to do this is to enter Gym at Bus Stop 2 and then step onto purple mat to enter Inner World.

Once inside, you can converse with and defeat your own mirror image; each victory grants 10,000 Conjuring XP. If you have Conjurer Perk equipped, this reward doubles, making this the ideal place to level up any new Stand immediately after acquiring it.

Notably, Inner Self scales in health with your level, allowing even low-level players to defeat it easily and farm Conjuring XP efficiently.

Gym Training

Many Bizarre Lineage players focus solely on leveling up while overlooking the gym training system. The gym offers various facilities - such as dumbbells, sit-up stations, and treadmills - that permanently boost specific stats like Strength or Health. These boosts do not consume skill points; instead, they stack directly onto your character's final stats.

The treadmill offers an extra perk: successful training sessions grant a 1.5x XP boost lasting 15 minutes. Although there is a cooldown, it is well worth utilizing daily to significantly improve leveling efficiency.

Stat Allocation

New Bizarre Lineage players often instinctively invest skill points into Strength or Health. However, for the vast majority of Stands, the returns on these stats are limited; the true priorities should be Destructive Power and Destructive Energy.

Destructive Power affects all of a Stand's physical attack skills (corresponding to the red damage numbers in the game), while Destructive Energy boosts skill-based damage (corresponding to blue damage numbers).

Since Health and Strength can be improved through gym training, it is better to prioritize investing skill points in stats that enhance Stand damage output, thereby maximizing your overall damage potential.

World Events

World Events in Bizarre Lineage refresh approximately every 30 minutes. Currently, the two main types are Graveyard and Death Match. Graveyard is a PvE mode requiring you to defeat waves of enemies; it yields substantial gold, making it perfect for accumulating funds in the early game.

Death Match is a multiplayer PvP mode where the winning team has a chance to earn a Legendary Chest - a key source of Lucky Arrows. However, there is no respawn mechanic in Death Match; once eliminated, you must wait for the match to end. Consequently, prioritizing survival is far more important than blindly charging into the fray.

Prestige

Once you reach Level 50 and have 10,000 Gold ready, you can head to the area near Bus Stop 10 to find Arch Mage and perform a Prestige. Prestige resets your character level, skill points, Sub-Abilities, and Fighting Style, but you won't lose your Stand, inventory items, or overall progress - you simply need to re-equip them.

Your first Prestige in Bizarre Lineage grants an extra Stand Slot, significantly expanding your capacity for collecting and developing Stands. Subsequent Prestiges award Prestige Shards, which can be exchanged for various special rewards.

For the shards earned from your first Prestige, Bloodlust Perk is highly recommended. Although it causes continuous health drain, it drastically boosts PvE efficiency, making it much easier to farm Bizarre Lineage bosses later on.

Boss Raids

Boss Raids are arguably one of the core progression elements in Bizarre Lineage. There are currently four types of raids - Avdol, Jotaro, Kira, and Dio - with Avdol being the easiest and ideal for early-game challenges.

Completing raids earns Tokens used to exchange for Stand Arrows, Perks, accessories, and various progression resources. Additionally, many late-game tasks, such as MIH evolution, require the completion of specific Boss Raids.

The bosses are located in different Bus Stop areas: Kira is at Bus Stop 1, Jotaro is near gym at Bus Stop 2, and Dio is inside the church next to Bus Stop 18 (you must find Cultist NPC to initiate Dio raid).

As you progress in Bizarre Lineage, Boss Raids will become your primary source of Gold, Lucky Arrows, and crafting materials.

Fighting Styles

Besides Sub-Abilities, Bizarre Lineage features three Fighting Styles: Kendo, Karate, and Boxing. These can be equipped alongside Sub-Abilities, allowing for a richer variety of skill combinations.

Boxing offers solid counter-attack capabilities and continuous attack skills like Dempsey Roll, while Karate excels in initiation and combo potential. Although you can only equip one Fighting Style at a time, you can switch between them whenever you like, allowing you to freely adjust your build based on your playstyle.

Shop and Crafting Systems

The shop NPCs in Bizarre Lineage not only sell various Bizarre Lineage Items but also obtain back excess accessories for Gold. Therefore, repeatedly running Boss Raids to obtain large numbers of treasure chests and then selling off unwanted equipment is currently one of the most reliable ways to earn money.

Additionally, there is a crafting NPC located inside the castle near Bus Stop 18; you can use various materials there to craft treasure chests of unique qualities. While the primary use for these materials right now is crafting chests, future updates may unlock more advanced crafting features.

For players just starting out in Bizarre Lineage, familiarizing themselves with these elements will allow them to continuously upgrade their Stand and smoothly transition into the game's mid-to-late-game content. The progression journey revolves around Stand development, Boss Raids, and build optimization; by mastering these core mechanics, new players can quickly get up to speed with the game's pace.
