ARC Raiders Possibility of Adding Leaderboards | Are PvP or PvE Rankings Coming in the Future?

Category: ARC Raiders Posted: Jan 13, 2026 Views: 1238

In ARC Raiders, compared to the more peaceful PvE gameplay, PvP is far more intense, both in terms of its mechanics and the controversies and discussions it generates within the player community.

Besides hoping for more comprehensive measures to combat bugs and cheating, some ARC Raiders players have recently expressed a desire for a leaderboard to complement PvP mode.

Frankly, leaderboards are not uncommon in multiplayer games; even PvE-focused games like Diablo 4 have recently seen a resurgence of leaderboards.

So, is it possible that ARC Raiders will introduce a leaderboard based on either PvP or PvE modes in the future? We will analyze and predict this.

ARC Raiders Possibility of Adding Leaderboards | Are PvP or PvE Rankings Coming in the Future?

Why do players want a leaderboard?

While fighting various ARC enemies is exciting, their combat patterns are ultimately fixed, and you might lose interest after a while.

In contrast, each real player is an individual with independent thought, making each PvP battle unpredictable and exciting. Therefore, most ARC Raiders players are more enthusiastic about PvP.

Assuming no cheating or exploits, there are differences in PvP ability among players. The addition of leaderboards allows you to more intuitively understand the top PvP players on the current server - and if you're a newbie, this can help you avoid them.

Does ARC Raiders have the foundation to add leaderboards?

Besides the highly customizable raids, ARC Raiders also provides Trials and Expeditions as simple progress systems, allowing you to assess your game progress and abilities in real time (with a greater focus on PvE).

In fact, these two mechanisms are essentially very close to the underlying structure of leaderboards, except that currently they are only used for personal progress and reward unlocking, rather than for horizontal comparisons between you and other players.

More specifically, expeditions and trials implicitly assess your survivability, combat and exploration, resource management, and risk management abilities. While these indicators don't all apply to leaderboards, they still reflect a player's overall ability.

Therefore, from a system design perspective, adding a leaderboard system isn't a completely new challenge for ARC Raiders; it simply requires redesigning and further refining the existing model.

High competitiveness is not necessary

If a leaderboard is introduced, especially one based on PvP, a group of players eager to showcase their skills by climbing the ranks will inevitably become even more aggressive and kill indiscriminately.

Even if the leaderboard itself doesn't offer rewards, killing enough players will still yield a lot of loot. This will eventually turn each map into a boring battlefield dominated by cheaters and mass murderers.

Undoubtedly, a suitable level of competition can create an engaging and exciting atmosphere for PvP mode, but the developers of ARC Raiders have stated that they hope cooperation and teamwork will be an important element of PvP experience alongside rivalry.

Compared to a purely competitive game, ARC Raiders is positioned as an immersive PvPvE game, thus emphasizing a unique atmosphere and world-building, as well as the unpredictable nature of combat driven by the pursuit of loot.

Therefore, introducing a mandatory server-wide PvP ranking system could potentially force casual players to quit the game due to pressure, especially since the game currently lacks any independent casual PvE gameplay.

On the other hand, leaderboards can lead more players to pursue absolute power, focusing solely on maximizing combat strength and neglecting the game's diverse gameplay and engaging details.

This significantly diminishes the unpredictable appeal of ARC Raiders, as all remaining players have only two objectives: becoming stronger and killing.

More importantly, as you know, cheating is rampant in the game. While the development team will implement solutions, it's conceivable that a PvP-based leaderboard might encourage some unscrupulous players to further develop cheating techniques.

A leaderboard that balances fun and restriction

Although the developers have explicitly stated that ARC Raiders doesn't need leaderboards, this view is based on the premise that the game doesn't require high competitiveness.

So why not change the approach? Leaderboards can be designed more reasonably to satisfy the desire for achievement among some players while also enhancing the experience for casual players.

For example, leaderboards could be based on map events or specific ARC enemy types, increasing PvE element and thus enriching rewards and gameplay while minimizing competition.

Alternatively, a leaderboard could be created based on Expeditions and Trials. This would not only increase participation in these two mechanisms but also allow players to assess their own progress based on the achievements of top players.

The balance between competition and cooperation

In general, while leaderboards might have negative impacts, they can be incorporated into ARC Raiders in a more reasonable way.

In other words, as long as the leaderboard mechanism doesn't force participation, directly tie core resources to it, or damage the game's immersion and freedom of exploration, it could actually contribute to the long-term retention of the game's popularity.

On the other hand, a reasonable leaderboard can provide a moderate amount of pressure, allowing players who want to improve or prove themselves to find more suitable solutions, rather than aimlessly adventuring in raids.

This concludes our feasibility analysis of adding a leaderboard to ARC Raiders. However, for the current ARC Raiders, fixing various bugs is the most urgent task. Otherwise, imagine a future leaderboard launch riddled with bugs - it would be incredibly frustrating!
