WoW TBC Classic Anniversary 5 Pro Tips for Mastering Warrior Class Before Phase 1

If you joined WoW TBC Classic Anniversary after the pre-patch opened, you should already have a class you're playing - but do you really understand it and have mastered the correct way to play it?
Fortunately, there's still a week until Phase 1 opens, so it's not too late to change your strategy! Therefore, this guide will use Warrior as an example to introduce some tips for playing this class in the game.

Warrior class introduction
As a physical DPS class, Warriors use Rage to generate skills and talents in combat, and can switch stances to gain buffs or debuffs based on the unique skills of each stance.
Compared to other classes, Warrior's advantages lie mainly in damage output and tanking attributes, and it is especially suitable for a DPS role in melee situations. However, you can also try other specializations if you prefer.
- Specialization 1: Arms Warrior - DPS
- Specialization 2: Fury Warrior - DPS
- Specialization 3: Protection Warrior - Tank
If you want to play this class and fully utilize its racial abilities, we recommend Alliance characters choose Human race, and Horde characters choose Orc or Troll.
Tip 1: Don't over-stack defense and evasion
Tank specializations, and even the two DPS Warrior specializations, have decent base defense. Therefore, you might overemphasize defense in later gear choices or talent point unlocks, and stack a lot of evasion to further enhance its effectiveness.
Once your defense is too high, exceeding the cap, or your evasion rating is too high, enemies will have difficulty hitting you, resulting in insufficient Rage generation from being hit, and thus preventing you from using your core skill, Heroic Strike.
This skill increases damage by replacing your next melee attack, and Protection Warriors can use it to unleash excess Rage to maintain a threat against a single target. But if you can't generate enough Rage, it's all for naught.
Therefore, it's best not to increase defense beyond the 490 cap, or stop stacking it immediately after slightly exceeding it - the same applies to evasion increases. The principle of moderation applies to the game as well.
Tip 2: Choose the right weapon
In TBC Classic Anniversary, Warrior's damage-dealing skill rotation is primarily based on the instant-cast skills Shield Slam and Revenge, followed by Devastate - its actual damage output depends mainly on your weapon's damage.
Therefore, if you choose to play a tank role and encounter groups of enemies in any combat scenario, a slower attack speed weapon is a better choice. However, if you are playing solo and encountering bosses, a faster attack speed weapon is more effective.
Tip 3: Accumulate as much gold as possible
While more gold is always better for any class in this game, this is more pronounced for Warriors, mainly because this class is more reliant on gear, especially in PvE combat.
If you choose to play any DPS specialization, you must acquire bind-on-pickup gear or other tradable items as quickly as possible, such as Fel Leather Boots/Legs or Burning Rage item sets.
It's expected that the gold required for the gear will increase after Phase 1 opens, not to mention you'll need to acquire PvP gear to prepare for the arena's opening. Therefore, your WoW TBC Classic Anniversary gold will always be consumed very quickly for a considerable period.
More importantly, some items can be used in other classes with beneficial effects, further increasing their demand and making them harder to obtain on the market.
While some items can be obtained through crafting, you'll also need time to farm recipes and other materials. Therefore, farming various items is also crucial.
For this reason, when choosing a profession, it's recommended to prioritize unlocking Mining and Blacksmithing. The latter provides a bonus for crafting top-tier gear, and you can also craft other items to sell for gold; the former allows you to acquire crafting materials more efficiently.
Tip 4: Focus on stats, not socket bonuses
Socket Bonuses refer to activating specific stat rewards by matching gems with color-coded sockets. Tip 4 emphasizes that you should prioritize bonuses based on the stats you want to improve, rather than forcing your sockets full for bonuses.
Generally, DPS Warriors should focus on increasing strength, while Tank Warriors should focus on stamina. In other words, when choosing gems, reaching the stat cap is your priority; otherwise, there's no need to aim for socket bonuses.
Tip 5: Master the timing of Slam
Slam skill allows you to unleash a powerful melee attack, dealing weapon damage. To maximize its value, you must master the optimal timing; otherwise, your damage output will be suppressed by the enemy.
Therefore, the best way to use Slam is immediately after a normal attack, and you should avoid using it when you need to unleash your full attack power, as this will interrupt the enemy's attack, ultimately allowing the enemy to block your damage.
These are our general tips for playing Warrior in TBC Classic Anniversary. You'll also need to make additional adjustments based on your final chosen spec. We hope you become a top Warrior player in the game soon!
