World of Warcraft: Forever beta is ending soon, and the official launch on November 4th is fast approaching. Players should start preparing for the upcoming Azeroth adventure.
From the Stress Test to Ruleset selection, character name reservation, and account and client checks, there are some things worth knowing in advance. For players planning to jump into the game as soon as the servers open, being prepared beforehand can avoid unnecessary trouble and make starting the new adventure smoother.
Stress Test and Beta Closing Dates

According to the official announcement, WoW Forever will officially launch globally on November 4, 2026. Before the official launch, the official team will also open a limited-time Stress Test, giving all players the opportunity to participate in server testing.
The stress test will begin at 2:00 PM (PDT) on October 21st. Players only need a WoW account to participate. However, the test period may end early or be extended depending on the actual situation. Please note that characters, names, and guilds created during the Stress Test will be deleted after the test ends.
Therefore, this test is merely an experiment by the official team to check the game's performance. The beta will continue after the Stress Test ends, and the beta will finally close at 10:00 AM (PDT) on October 23rd.
Choose the Ruleset that suits you
A key design feature of WoW Forever is the elimination of the traditional Realm selection method, allowing players to choose their preferred Ruleset first. Each ruleset has a relatively independent player ecosystem, allowing players to choose an experience that suits their playstyle:
- Normal: Focuses on exploration, quests, cooperative gameplay, and self-selected PvP combat, suitable for players who want to experience a classic adventure.
- PvP: Emphasizes faction conflict in the open world, where players face greater risks from opposing players when entering contested areas.
- Roleplay: Suitable for players who want to immerse themselves more deeply in the Azeroth universe and interact with like-minded players.
- Hardcore: Emphasizes the long-term impact of survival and death, suitable for highly skilled and daring players.
Regular cross-ruleset partying is not allowed between different rulesets; players must team up with others who have chosen the same ruleset for dungeons and raids.

Factions also need to be considered in advance. Horde and Alliance characters cannot party together. PvP rules also restrict the faction of characters created by the same player under that ruleset: once an Alliance character is created, a Horde character cannot be created under the same PvP ruleset, and vice versa. Normal and Roleplay allow the creation of characters from both factions.
Furthermore, the studio plans to use faction balancing mechanisms to limit new character creation for the more populated faction when necessary. Therefore, if you plan to play with friends, it's best to discuss your Ruleset and Faction in advance to avoid discovering you can't adventure together as planned after launch.
Early Name Reservation is Coming Soon
For players who have already decided on their character build, Early Name Reservation is an important pre-launch event to watch out for.
According to current information, eligible players can create and reserve up to three characters between October 27th and November 3rd. This number is for all rule sets combined, not for each rule set individually.
This benefit is only available to players who have purchased designated upgrade packs, including the Skyborne Heroic Pack, Skyborne Epic Pack, and Warcraft Forever Collection.
WoW Classic+ also adopts a new dual-name system. Characters no longer have a single name, but rather a first name and a second name. Uniqueness is determined based on the complete combination's duplication within the region, not just the first name.
This means that even if your preferred first name is already taken, as long as the complete combination hasn't been registered, you still have a chance to obtain a visually similar identity.

Check Your Account, Client, and Game Settings in Advance
Besides choosing your character and rule type, account and client preparation is also crucial. Players are advised to confirm their Battle.net Account can log in successfully, check their authentication method, and ensure they have a valid Subscription or Game Time.
Additionally, players should update their Battle.net Desktop App and graphics card drivers, and ensure their computers have sufficient storage space. If the official client is available for pre-download, install it as early as possible.
Players who participated in the WoW Classic Plus beta should also consider backing up their UI, Key Bindings, Macros, and Addons configurations. If addons support exporting configurations, save them beforehand; players familiar with the game's file structure can also back up the Interface and WTF folders.
This is a low-cost but potentially high-return operation. While the official guarantee is that beta files can be directly copied into the official client and run perfectly, keeping a reference configuration snapshot is enough to avoid rebuilding the interface from scratch for tens of minutes on launch night.
Besides account and client settings, players can also plan their resource allocation after the official launch. For players who want to accelerate character progression and reduce the pressure of early resource accumulation, choosing to buy WoW Forever gold can give them a good start.
Save the surprises for Azeroth
WoW: Forever's official launch is just around the corner. Whether you're a returning veteran preparing to return to Azeroth or a new adventurer stepping into this world for the first time, use this final preparation time to familiarize yourself with the ruleset, determine your faction and character direction, and check your account and client status.
But preparation doesn't have to become an endless optimization race. Instead of meticulously studying every class ranking and leveling path before launch, let's reserve some unknowns and surprises for the adventure after the official release.
Exploring uncharted territories, meeting new companions, discovering unexpected content, and creating your own story along the way - that's the charm of MMORPGs.
