Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.4.0d Breakdown | Fracturing Orb Market Crash? The End of Infinite Temple Farming!

Category: Path Of Exile 2 Posted: Jan 16, 2026 Views: 1981

The official Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.4.0d was recently released, and it's expected to be officially implemented in some games this week.

Patch 0.4.0d contains a lot of content. While it may seem like it focuses on minor improvements, it actually includes several major changes that can significantly impact the game's economy. Let's take a look at the key features of this patch.

Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.4.0d Breakdown | Fracturing Orb Market Crash? The End of Infinite Temple Farming!

League Mechanics

Temple is the core gameplay of the current version. This patch includes several optimizations, improving the experience and fixing serious issues.

Boss Battle Optimization

Now, if a player dies in a fight against Architect or Atziri boss, they will respawn in the boss battle area and can start the challenge from the beginning without having to rerun the entire temple.

This mechanism is similar to Arbiter of Ash fight, but it's unclear whether it provides 100 or unlimited attempts. However, it's speculated that it might be unlimited, like other content.

Room Bug Fixes

Atziri's Chambers now correctly connects to any adjacent rooms. Previously, if a player mistakenly built a room in front of Atziri's Chambers, the entire temple path could be “locked,” preventing access to the final boss, Atziri. This fix allows players to more reliably and quickly access Atziri and his loot, so the value of unique Atziri-related items is expected to decrease.

Additionally, temples now require at least one room to be placed before each opening to prevent accidental opening before construction. PC players can skip this restriction by pressing Ctrl, while controller users need to confirm.

Holten League

Previously, Holten League had a bug that allowed players to repeatedly open temples to quickly farm PoE 2 currency, so it was disabled. Its placement has now been adjusted, and Energized Crystals has been re-enabled.

Quality of Life Improvements

In response to player feedback, patch 0.4.0d further improves the player experience in temples and general gameplay.

Temple Quality of Life Improvements

After patch 0.4.0d, hovering your mouse over a room within a Temple now displays information about its possible upgrade paths.

This allows players to more intuitively understand the complex room upgrade system without relying on external tools. Additionally, user feedback information regarding room completion status and achievability has been added, making the overall process clearer.

Furthermore, descriptions on how to unlock Atziri's Chambers have been added, and the keyword description for “Temple Destabilisation” has been updated to clearly distinguish between random instability and instability caused by room completion. These improvements will make it easier for new and casual players to run Temples.

General Quality of Life Improvements

  • The specific values for Armor, Evasion, and Energy Shield provided by items are now displayed.
  • Information on spirit-consuming skills has been optimized; the final adjusted spirit retention value will now be displayed in the skill information pop-up.
  • Added buff names to enemy buff pop-ups.
  • Mini-quality improvements to Anonintments and Distilled Emotions.
  • Added an information pop-up when hovering over Logbook button, reminding the player that they must first select a destination area.
  • Updated Smith of Kitava weapon requirements, explicitly stating that it cannot be used with Talismans.

Balance Adjustments

  • Overall damage reduction for Bahlak, The Sky Seer.
  • Buffed Chimera bosses and Quadrillas monsters.
  • Long-standing issues with Phantasmal Arrow have finally been fixed.

Impact on The Economy

The updates that will truly impact the economy in this update are in the bug fixes section.

Fracturing Orb

The issue of Immured Fury failing to spawn will be fixed. This boss will now appear in Cleansed Areas or Fractured Areas, and its spawn will be clearly indicated in the map information. Successfully defeating it will guarantee a Fracturing Orb drop.

Previously, the boss's failure to spawn caused a sharp drop in Fracturing Orb production, leading to a surge in its market value. With this bug fixed, the supply of Fracturing Orb is expected to return to normal, and its price is already showing a downward trend. While this is unfavorable for investment players holding this PoE 2 currency, it is beneficial for the overall health of the game economy.

Abyss Atlas Fix

This patch also fixes a critical bug related to Abyss Atlas passive talent. Previously, the node in the talent tree used to increase the spawn rate of Amanamu and Ulaman faction monsters incorrectly applied to other factions.

After the fix, selecting the enhance Ulaman node will correctly increase the spawn rate and effectiveness of Ulaman monsters. Select Enhance Amanamu. The selection of nodes will increase the spawn rate of Amanamun monsters.

Previously, players could choose Uraman nodes to gain an effectiveness bonus while unexpectedly spawning more Amanamun monsters, thus efficiently farming high-value items like Omens of Light and Deep Abyssal Echoes.

After the fix, players must make a clear choice between two options. This may affect current mainstream Amanamun farming strategies and potentially impact the market value of related items.

This patch focuses on improving the game's endgame and user experience, while the player community is more concerned about whether version 0.4 will see a content update similar to 0.4.1, which might add new temple rooms or unique items. However, considering the official announcement of PoE 3.28's release in early March, the development focus may be shifting soon, and PoE 2 will no longer be a priority for the time being.
