After the release of Druid class in Path of Exile 2, there has been a lot of discussion and gameplay surrounding its three transformable forms and related builds, and most of them have proven to be quite effective in actual combat.
Based on the skill gem mechanics of PoE 2, players of other classes also can experience what it's like to transform into an animal and kill enemies without changing their class.
Based on this, we will combine the wyvern form with Monk class to see just how powerful the final Monk Wyvern Build is.

Monk Wyvern Build Overview
From the final combat results, this build is very powerful, has strong survivability, is easy to learn, and is very fun to play. It can easily instantly kill bosses with amazing single-target damage and can also clear groups of enemies to farm resources.
In most cases, with just two buttons, the entire screen will be covered with the skill effects and armor-breaking effects produced by this build. It can also utilize summoned creatures for rapid movement.
In addition, this build has very strong survivability, possessing a huge energy shield pool, and the energy shield recovery speed is very fast, recovering almost every second, allowing for worry-free combat.
Basic Operation
The basic and main attack skill of this build is Rend. Using it to attack enemies will continuously grant Vengeance effect, providing 40% extra damage. Furthermore, when you generate energy charges, you will also gain a lightning-charged version of Rend skill.
This gives Rend skill extra damage and a larger area of effect, making it easier to attack targets. Afterward, you can use summoned creatures in conjunction with Ailith's Chimes to generate charges, as Rend skill is a strike skill and can generate combos.
More importantly, Rend skill is a basic attack skill and does not consume any mana when used. When you stack a certain number of combos, you can generate energy almost for free and move around.
How To Deal With Different Types Of Enemies?
For common enemies and ordinary groups of enemies, simply follow the build's mechanics as described. However, if you encounter a more challenging boss, you will need to use a more comprehensive combination of skills.
First, use Entangle in conjunction with Effigy of Cruelty to focus your attacks, then immediately use a heavy attack to build energy, and use Oil Barrage to instantly eliminate the boss with massive single-target damage.
If you are facing more dangerous or larger groups of enemies, you will need to cast better AoE skills. This requires acquiring ice damage first. Then, add other skills and gear to further enhance the ice damage.
All of these combinations, plus a weapon with extra physical damage percentage, will cause all enemies (except those in maps with extra elemental thresholds) to explode upon contact.
Furthermore, since the base class of this build is Monk, you can gain powerful auras through relevant skills and the massive amount of spirit provided by high-quality armor. Additionally, Eternal Rage skill keeps your rage meter constantly full.
More Gem Combinations
Among all basic wyvern attacks, Rend skill mentioned earlier is the most important and convenient. When using it, you also need to pair it with support gems such as Rapid Attacks, Elemental Armament, and Magnified Area.
To obtain enough slots for these gems, you need to reach level 90 or higher. This way, your attacks will primarily deal physical and frost damage, making it easier to trigger your herald skills.
Afterward, you need to pair it with more support gems such as Culmination or Charge Profusion, especially Ailith's Chimes and Culmination, as key components for generating combos.
When you attack enemies and accumulate some combos, you need to use heavy attacks to gain charges. Only by maintaining a charged state can your attacks deal higher damage and gain additional benefits.
How To Choose Gear?
A very important part of this build's gear is the talisman, and it must have extra physical damage. It's even better if you can get onslaught, rage, and all attack skill level bonuses.
Having all other resistances capped is also very important. For energy shields, your delay should be as low as possible. While you don't need to invest too many resources in reducing the delay, it's best to be able to recover all energy shields within two and a half seconds.
Based on this, Darkness Enthroned Fine Belt is a good choice, as it helps you gain better energy shield charging and charging speed.
However, if you want to try a more flexible gear combination, you can also choose Headhunter Heavy Belt. It will affect your energy shield situation, but it makes map exploration easier and makes it easier to obtain the necessary attributes.
For weapons, a very basic weapon with high physical damage and additional physical damage is sufficient. The chest armor should provide faster energy shield recharge activation speed.
On top of this, the rest is about stacking as much energy shield as possible, ideally reaching over 1000.
It's important to note that you must allocate Tribal Fury on the amulet, as this will cause your attacks to deal splash damage, providing a splash effect for your finishing moves and significantly increasing your monster clearing efficiency.
The helmet should provide increased energy shield recharge speed and some basic resistances. For other gear like gloves, you only need to focus on attack speed, resistances, and some basic damage. Boots should ideally have movement speed bonuses.
As for rings, you only need to obtain additional fixed damage; resistances and item rarity bonuses are a plus. When choosing an amulet, you should aim for melee skill level bonuses, usually +2 levels is sufficient.
Which Ascendancy Class To Choose?
For Monk Wyvern Build, we recommend unlocking Invoker, as many of its passive talents can improve the build's potential.
First is Sunder My Enemies, which makes your critical hits ignore enemy elemental resistance. As we've already discussed, critical hits are one of the core ways this build deals sufficient damage.
Next is Lead me through Grace, which greatly increases your mana regeneration. Then you can choose between I am the Blizzard and I am the Thunder depending on your preferred damage type.
That's all for this guide. If this build matches your Path of Exile 2 gameplay style, give it a try in the game!
