Posted: Aug 15, 2025 Views: 31

MLB The Show 25 has entered the era of 99 OVR cards, and obtaining a 99 OVR card is no longer as difficult as it once was. The recently updated New Threads 2.0 adds nine 99 OVR players.

Aside from players who require trading for MLB 25 stubs or completing collection quests, New Threads 2.0 Program also includes two free 99 OVR players. Obtaining them isn't difficult, as the quests are simple. Let's have a look at how to get these players.

  • 130 Points: 5,000 XP
  • 140 Points: New Threads 2.0 Deluxe Pack
  • 150 Points: 95,000 XP and 99 OVR Cedric Mullins

This New Threads 2.0 bonus includes seven free players. These players cannot be traded with MLB The Show 25 stubs and can only be unlocked by accumulating points.

97 OVR Chris Paddack

  • Stamina: 98
  • H/9: 98
  • K/9: 91
  • BB/9: 106
  • HR/9: 78
  • Pitch Clutch: 90
  • Control: 95
  • Velocity: 76
  • Break: 99

Chris Paddack was traded from Twins to Tigers a little over a month ago. He's very good at throwing strikes, especially on the first pitch. He made an impact against White Sox on Monday, but struggled in 5.2 innings.

97 OVR Ke'Bryan Hayes

  • Contact Right: 117
  • Contact Left: 103
  • Power Right: 80
  • Power Left: 70
  • Vision: 100
  • Discipline: 57
  • Clutch: 125
  • Bunt: 44
  • Drag Bunt: 35
  • Durability: 95

Pirates and Reds also reached a trade, sending Pirates third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes to Reds in exchange for rookie shortstop Rogers.

Hayes, now with his new team, did not disappoint. In a recent game against Phillies, he made a spectacular diving catch and completed a pass to eliminate JT Realmuto.

97 OVR Griffin Jax

  • Stamina: 25
  • H/9: 100
  • K/9: 125
  • BB/9: 105
  • HR/9: 85
  • Pitch Clutch: 92
  • Control: 96
  • Velocity: 99
  • Break: 95

Despite Griffin Jax's desire to stay with Twins, Twins completed a quick trade with Rays, trading star pitcher Griffin Jax for rookie pitcher Taj Bradley. Griffin Jax struggled recently against Mariners, and it's clear he needs some time to adjust to his new team.

98 OVR Josh Naylor

  • Contact Right: 119
  • Contact Left: 105
  • Power Right: 91
  • Power Left: 78
  • Vision: 104
  • Discipline: 86
  • Clutch: 109
  • Bunt: 35
  • Drag Bunt: 25
  • Durability: 95

Mariners completed a major trade before the trade was closed, acquiring first baseman Josh Naylor from Diamondbacks. Josh Naylor made history for Mariners by stealing two bases in a row in recent games.

98 OVR Merrill Kelly

  • Stamina: 105
  • H/9: 108
  • K/9: 90
  • BB/9: 94
  • HR/9: 87
  • Pitch Clutch: 100
  • Control: 92
  • Velocity: 83
  • Break: 99

Merrill Kelly was another Diamondbacks player traded to Rangers. He pitched a strong start in their recent matchup against Diamondbacks, but unfortunately, they didn't get the win.

99 OVR Ryan McMahon

  • Contact Right: 111
  • Contact Left: 101
  • Power Right: 125
  • Power Left: 100
  • Vision: 64
  • Discipline: 86
  • Clutch: 105
  • Bunt: 35
  • Drag Bunt: 25
  • Durability: 96

Yankees traded Ryan McMahon from Rockies to compensate for Aaron Judge's absence. Third base has always been a sore spot for Yankees, and if Ryan McMahon can address this deficiency, he might be able to change the situation in the second half.

99 OVR Cedric Mullins

  • Contact Right: 102
  • Contact Left: 118
  • Power Right: 115
  • Power Left: 104
  • Vision: 82
  • Discipline: 88
  • Clutch: 112
  • Bunt: 71
  • Drag Bunt: 62
  • Durability: 95

30-year-old veteran Cedric Mullins recently joined Mets as a center fielder. He hit his first home run shortly after joining the new club, proving that this veteran's ability remains reliable.
