The launch of MapleStory Classic World has finally been set for October 21 at 11:00 AM (Pacific Time), and we will soon be able to enjoy the fun of leveling up in the game. However, many players often find themselves running critically low on potions, equipment, and Mesos all at the same time during the leveling process.
If you don't want to go broke every few levels, you need to treat Mesos as a resource that requires careful management!
How can you save Mesos?
First, avoid overestimating your character or your ability to handle monsters - especially when your gear is average and your potion supply is limited.
If you constantly try to tank monsters head-on, you will inevitably burn through a lot of MapleStory Classic World Mesos on potions.
To save on these costs, when facing a group of monsters, you should lure them over and deal with them one by one, rather than provoking too many at the same time.
There is no need to cast another skill when a monster is on the verge of death; simply use a regular attack to finish it off. Mages, in particular, should keep this in mind, as a near-dead monster isn't worth the extra MP expenditure.
Every potion you save during this process translates into a more stable budget for leveling up.

Choose Your Maps Wisely
Players generally look to grind in areas of MapleStory Classic World that offer high experience yields, believing this will allow them to level up faster.
But have you considered that those high-EXP zones might not actually be right for you?
If it takes four or five skill casts to bring down a single monster - and you have to chug potions to replenish Mana or Health each time - then that grinding spot isn't cost-effective for you.
Instead of struggling, go back to areas with Mushrooms or Pigs that you can defeat in two hits, or keep farming Slimes; their Slime Bubbles also have decent value when sold to NPCs.
However, players should keep one thing in mind: this doesn't mean you have to stay in weak maps forever in MSCW; rather, it's a reminder that there is no shame in returning to lower-level maps to farm Mesos when you run low on potions.
You are still gaining experience; you just need to adjust your leveling pace and take a longer-term view.

Saving SP
You also need to be mindful of how you use your Skill Points (SP). Spending them too hastily can actually make the leveling process more expensive.
For some skills, the damage increase gained by leveling from 6 to 9 is negligible, yet MP cost rises significantly. For instance, upgrading Magic Claw might not necessarily allow you to handle Orange Mushrooms in a single hit, but MP consumption will certainly go up.
In such cases, wouldn't it be better to save your SP and invest it all at once to reach a higher skill level, rather than dealing with that awkward situation?
For Warrior players, once you acquire a new attack skill, consider prioritizing passive recovery skills. Improved sustainability reduces the strain on your potion supply, ultimately saving you MapleStory Classic World Mesos.
Learning to Pick Your Quests
Keep in mind that many quests in MapleStory Classic World reward you with potions and various items; completing quests is practically essential, especially at lower levels.
However, you should learn to be selective, as some quests are time-consuming yet offer mediocre rewards.
Take Pia and the Blue Mushroom quest, for example: the rewards are Hat Accuracy Scrolls - of relatively low value - yet collecting 20 Blue Mushroom Caps at level 16 takes a lot of time. You might be better off tackling that one later.
If you aren't sure what rewards a quest offers, look it up before deciding whether to accept it.
As for Citizenship quest line and daily quests, there is no need to hesitate; they provide free potions and Mesos, making them well worth completing as part of your daily routine.
Regarding the gear needed for leveling, don't rush to acquire it from NPCs; quest rewards and crafting are often far more cost-effective options.
Handling Potions and Drops
When deciding which potions to acquire, remember to prioritize Meat and Lemon, as they are widely recognized for offering excellent value in MapleStory Classic World.
In terms of cost-effectiveness, however, Orange Potions and Mana Elixirs fall short compared to Meat and Lemon; you should be especially cautious with your decisions when your financial foundation isn't yet stable.
If you plan to trade your loot with NPCs for Mesos, remember to check first if other players are willing to pay a higher price. Items like Ore, Pig's Heads, Leather, and equipment are usually in high demand and relatively easy to sell.
If you want to specifically farm items to sell in the game, keep an eye out for the following:
- Korean Fan (dropped by Florina Beach monsters)
- Pan Lid (dropped by Green Mushroom)
- Scroll for Claw for ATT 60% (dropped by Green Mushrooms)
- Wooden Top (dropped by Axe Stumps and Dark Axe Stumps)
- Throwing Stars (dropped by Stone Golems)
However, Stone Golems can be quite challenging for players who are still leveling up because of their high-level requirements, so there is no need to rush into farming Throwing Stars just yet.
The other items are excellent for earning Mesos and are well worth farming once your character is strong enough to handle them!
When MapleStory Classic World officially launches, don't rush to compare yourself to other players; instead, focus on managing your Mesos and leveling up steadily at your own pace. That way, your adventure will be much more enjoyable and stress-free.
