GTA 6 May Introduce More Exciting Aviation Elements: Ultra-Realistic Aircraft Will Completely Transform Flying!

Category: GTA 6 Posted: Jul 17, 2026 Views: 16

Grand Theft Auto series has long been celebrated for blending its main storyline with a variety of engaging gameplay styles within a virtual Vice City setting, appealing to a diverse range of players.

While car chases are likely the most familiar aspect of the gameplay to you, GTA series also allows players to pilot aircraft. Based on existing images and trailers, GTA 6, slated for release in November 2026, promises to further revolutionize the in-game aviation experience.

Let's explore some of the potential aviation-related surprises awaiting players in GTA VI, based on the clues available so far.

GTA 6 May Introduce More Exciting Aviation Elements: Ultra-Realistic Aircraft Will Completely Transform Flying!

All-new Maverick Helicopter

If you've watched the first GTA 6 trailer, you likely noticed various aircraft appearing in scenes showcasing the game world; among them is likely a brand-new version of Maverick helicopter.

As a staple of the series, Maverick has appeared in numerous iterations throughout the franchise. The version expected in GTA 6 appears to be modeled after the real-world Bell 206L Long Ranger.

This conclusion is drawn from trailer footage showing three sets of side windows, distinguishing it from the two-window configuration of Jet Ranger model.

Furthermore, close-ups reveal details such as the beacon light, navigation lights, and the silhouette of a pilot seated on the right, all of which align perfectly with the actual layout of 206L Long Ranger.

In GTA 5, all helicopter pilots sat on the left side, just like fixed-wing aircraft pilots. The adjustments made to Maverick in GTA 6, reflecting the real-world model, clearly enhance the game's realism.

However, it is worth noting that aircraft typically produce contrails (condensation trails) only at low temperatures, such as when flying at high altitudes.

Yet, in the second trailer, an aircraft produces a contrail while flying close to the ground as Jason goes to pick up Lucia, a detail that is technically unrealistic.

As for how you will get to pilot Maverick or other new aircraft in GTA 6, access may be tied to main story missions or require unlocking specific features or items.

Shamal in GTA 6

Shamal is a business jet that previously appeared in San Andreas; based on the trailer, it is set to make a comeback in Grand Theft Auto 6.

Shamal's design appears to be based on Learjet 45 or 45 XR, though the triangular tail fin found on the real-world model has been removed.

Shamal in GTA VI trailer features a low-positioned yet accurate tail number, 76, which serves as a likely homage to Learjet 45's factory livery.

Furthermore, compared to its real-world counterpart, Shamal retains the same engine profile and is equipped with thrust reversers. Its winglets feature three static discharge wicks designed to dissipate static electricity during flight, details that demonstrate a high level of realism.

The nose section is fitted with a pitot tube and a stall warning vane, while a fin-like vortex generator extends from the side of the tail; this component ensures the rudder functions effectively and prevents the aircraft from losing control during low-speed flight.

The design of Shamal's landing gear doors also closely mirrors that of Learjet 45. The wings are equipped with flaps that increase both lift and drag, a design feature players of previous titles will likely recognize from the airliners featured in those games.

It is worth noting that Grand Theft Auto VI renders these potential new vehicles with such realism that actually piloting them in-game will probably require mastering a host of technical details; otherwise, such intricate components would serve no purpose other than mere decoration.

The return of Dodo Seaplane

In a setting like Leonida, renowned for its beach culture, a seaplane is a must-have. Consequently, the return of Dodo is certainly a highlight worth noting.

Based on the second trailer, GTA 6 Dodo is essentially a replica of DHC-2 Beaver. A standout feature of this model is a protrusion on the exterior of the engine cowling, likely representing a carburetor air intake mounted directly onto the housing.

If the speculation holds true, this design element draws inspiration from the renowned Pratt & Whitney R-985 Wasp Junior radial aircraft engine.

However, much like the older Dodo model from previous titles, GTA VI version lacks the additional fins on the rear stabilizer near the tail elevator.

More returning aircraft

In addition to Dodo, another classic amphibious multi-role helicopter, Sea Sparrow, is expected to make a comeback in GTA 6. You will also see the return of Police Maverick (Polmav).

Polmav is an iconic law enforcement helicopter in GTA series, used by police NPCs to pursue suspects. Consequently, in GTA VI, it will likely chase you while you are making your escape as the protagonist; you can choose to evade it or even find a way to hijack it!

The impact of all-new weather engine

Reliable sources indicate that Grand Theft Auto 6 will feature a brand-new weather engine, something unprecedented in previous titles. This means you can expect to see realistic volumetric clouds, sheets of rain, and other atmospheric effects.

If you fly high into the sky amidst these conditions, the surrounding scenery blurs, creating a sensation of losing one's bearings; this immersive experience makes the game world feel even more vast and vibrant.

The actual flight experience and new vehicles in GTA 6 may exceed our current expectations, after all, the game has kept players in suspense for a long time. Pre-orders are already open, so if you're interested, why not consider picking up a copy now?
