Will EA FC 27 Release Day-One Patch to Fix Issues Identified during Closed Beta? A Crucial Move to Retain Players!

Following the conclusion of FC 27 Closed Beta, some players decided to unlock the game after seeing features or changes they had hoped for, while others chose to pass or remain on the fence due to the issues that came to light.

As the third title released after parting ways with FIFA license, FC 27 promised, during its promotional phase, a deeper tactical system, the all-new The Grounds feature, and a revamp of Pro Clubs and other core modes.

The flaws exposed during Closed Beta might lead you to suspect that the development team hasn't fully delivered on their promises. However, there remains a possibility that further fixes could be introduced via day-one patches or subsequent updates after the game's official launch.

Here, we analyze the specific issues revealed in FC 27 Closed Beta and speculate on which ones are most likely to be addressed in the future.

Will EA FC 27 Release Day-One Patch to Fix Issues Identified during Closed Beta? A Crucial Move to Retain Players!

Issues with AI behavior

Since FC 26, the series has increasingly emphasized the role of AI. While this has brought benefits, it has also introduced bugs affecting attacking and defensive mechanics.

The development team claimed to have focused on optimizing these AI bugs and related physics engine issues for FC 27; however, Closed Beta remains riddled with similar problems.

For instance, a High Backline setup still suffers from disastrous defensive logic gaps, and both attacking and defending during corner kicks feel absurd, there is even a severe visual bug where the camera locks onto your own goalkeeper when taking a corner.

Furthermore, when a corner kick is cleared, your AI teammates show a lack of urgency in tracking back, making you highly vulnerable to counter-attacks.

Additionally, when launching a counter-attack or attempting a long ball over the top, a forward making a high-speed run might suddenly stop without warning, disrupting your tactical execution and significantly diminishing the play's effectiveness.

Imbalance in PlayStyles

PlayStyles and PlayStyles+ systems were designed to highlight individual player differences by adding various types of bonuses. However, in FC 27 Closed Beta, imbalances in the mechanics' stats and styles have undermined the entire system.

This is particularly evident with PlayStyle+ traits related to physical duels and tackling. Their potency is exceptionally high; if an opposing defender possesses such a trait, they can easily shove your attacker aside simply by getting close.

In stark contrast, more than half of the basic PlayStyles feel virtually irrelevant to actual gameplay. This internal imbalance not only undermines the player experience but also renders PlayStyles system itself pointless.

Stat inflation caused by new Amps

Building on the integration of Clubs and The Grounds modes, FIFA 27 introduces numerous changes, including the new Amps.

These are stat-boosting items that can be applied to the virtual player you create in Clubs. The issue, however, is that the game allows you to acquire Amps through the in-game store.

This means that with enough FC coins, you can easily obtain high-tier Amps early on, rapidly boosting your offensive and defensive stats to gain an advantage. While this might seem like a benefit, it actually severely disrupts the competitive balance.

Increased risk of stuttering and crashes

Beyond the prominent issues mentioned above, many players participating in FIFA 27 Closed Beta have reported frequent stuttering and crashes.

These problems are particularly prevalent in the newly added The Grounds mode. Issues include frequent screen freezes or getting stuck on loading screens, as well as problems within the associated Clubs gameplay, such as lobby disconnections, failures to form squads, and high latency during matchmaking.

Will FIFA 27 release a day-one patch?

It is common practice for this series to release a patch a day or two before the official launch to address issues identified during Closed Beta.

Given the widespread player dissatisfaction surrounding FC 27 Closed Beta, it is highly likely the game will follow this tradition. However, you may still have to endure these flaws during the early access period.

Will all issues be resolved by the first patch?

Considering the need to ensure a good player experience and the complexity of the fixes, the day-one patch, released just before the launch of FUT 27, will almost certainly address UI display bugs, as well as superficial crashes and stat errors.

Since these are typical issues often carried over from the beta phase, the development team is fully capable of fixing them during the final sprint leading up to the official release.

As for the imbalances caused by Playstyles and the erratic AI behavior, these issues are tied to the core gameplay of FUT 27.

Consequently, it is unlikely they can be fully resolved in a day-one patch; instead, they will likely require gradual optimization through subsequent updates over the game's entire lifecycle.

Other bugs stem from fundamental architectural issues within Frostbite Engine and the development team's tendency to prioritize certain modes over others, Ultimate Team, for instance, invariably takes precedence.

These are not new issues that emerged only with FC 27 closed beta; they are long-standing problems inherited from the series' history. Expecting them to be fixed in the very first patch of this title is unrealistic.

Conclusion

EA Sports FC 27 Closed Beta presents a contradictory picture: on one hand, the development team is attempting to breathe new life into the franchise through the new The Grounds mode and other changes.

On the other hand, the tight development schedule inherent to the annual release cycle makes it difficult to fully resolve core flaws and mode-specific optimization issues, problems that have essentially been carried over unchanged into FIFA 27.

So, if you plan to play FUT 27, the experience following the official launch should be better than during Closed Beta and early access periods; just don't expect every shortcoming to be perfectly resolved.

Perhaps two or three months post-launch, the release of further patches will improve FIFA 27 experience and its reception compared to its current state. One can only hope that enough players stick around until then.
