EA FC 27 officially invited many players to try out the game. The many changes coming to Career Mode are generally positive, while Ultimate Team has also received quite a few changes.

Not only has SBC system been simplified, but EVO system has also been streamlined, and a new FUT Gallery system has been added. The new SBC system and Gallery mode may feel unfamiliar to players, so let's take a look at how they work.

Simplified SBC System

SBC Score

SBC system has not undergone any major changes for many years. The official design made it feel almost like solving a puzzle. You had to select specific players, reach a certain squad Overall Rating, and place players in the correct positions. Sometimes, there were even restrictions on clubs, nationalities, or leagues.

However, Streamlined SBCs in EA FC 27 have completely simplified this system, to the point where it is difficult to even call them challenges anymore.

In UT, every player card now comes with a Score. This value is based on the card's OVR and rarity. Some players may be worth 150 points, while others are worth only 50 points.

Completing an SBC no longer requires you to build an entire squad. Instead, you simply submit player cards to accumulate points until you reach SBC's Target Score.

For example, if an SBC has a Target Score of 2,000 points, you can submit 10 cards worth 200 points each, or two high-score cards worth 1,000 points each, to reach the target.

Of course, not every SBC is this simple. Some SBCs still restrict players by nationality or club, which preserves a certain level of challenge. Even so, they are still much simpler than those in FUT 26 or FC 25.

EA FC 27 SBC Score

Manual Selection and Auto-Fill

The new system introduces two extremely useful functions. Previously, an SBC would usually allow only one version of a particular player to be submitted. Now, you can submit multiple identical player cards to accumulate points.

You also no longer need to complete an SBC all at once. Player cards can now be submitted in batches, with your progress saved by the system so you can return and continue at any time. This makes resource management much more flexible.

You also no longer have to select every player manually. By using a shortcut, the system can automatically select players that meet the requirements. However, it does not automatically provide the optimal solution. It only tries to ensure that the required score is reached, so you may end up with more points than necessary.

After using Auto-Fill, you can manually remove any players you want to keep, and the system will only submit the players you have selected at the end. You can then add more fodder from the market and return later to continue completing SBC.

Problems with the New System

The new SBC system is an excellent change for most players, but it also has some issues.

When you enter the new SBC system, your players are sorted by rating from lowest to highest by default. The available sorting options are Ascending and Descending, as well as Tradable and Untradeable.

When your club contains hundreds or even thousands of players, you can no longer search by exact rating or by a specific player name like you could before.

Suppose you do not want to use Bronze cards for an SBC because they provide too few points and are inefficient for the requirement. If you want to use only Gold cards, however, you have to manually search through a huge number of cards.

I demonstrated how to press X to select individual players manually, or hold X to select multiple players continuously. However, this still cannot make up for the lack of precise filtering.

As a result, with the large number of SBCs expected throughout the year, players may end up consuming large numbers of Bronze and Silver cards simply because managing them is inconvenient, while

Overpaying

Under the old system, using an 85 OVR player to complete an 84-rated squad requirement did not necessarily feel like a major loss. In the new SBC system, however, you can see much more clearly how many points you have gone over the requirement.

For players who are particularly focused on optimization, this could become a minor annoyance. It may push them to search for the most efficient solution possible so that not a single point is wasted.

FUT Gallery

Gallery system looks and feels somewhat similar to SBCs, but it does not consume any of your player cards. As long as a card has entered your club at some point, the system records it and automatically counts it toward the progress of the corresponding collection.

Each card in Gallery also has a score based on its OVR and rarity. The scoring rules for player cards submitted in the new SBC system are exactly the same as those used to complete Sets in FUT Gallery.

You can enter a Set and use the shortcut to automatically fill it with eligible players. If you are missing certain players, you can trade for them through the market to complete the collection.

Scoring System and Tags

Your score directly affects the rewards you can receive. Through this system, you can earn Gallery Tokens, kits, club badges, and other rewards. Player Tags can also provide various score bonuses.

However, FUT Gallery appears to be something that can be completed quickly by trading for player cards. This means that if you have a large amount of FC 27 coins, you can directly obtain the required players from the market to achieve a high score and earn Gallery Tokens, which is somewhat of a pay-to-win situation.

Overall, the 2 major new systems in FC 27 Ultimate Team, SBCs and Gallery, bring a completely different experience, but both also have their own strengths and weaknesses. These issues are not impossible to address, and hopefully the official team will resolve them through future updates.

2. Coins: In-game earned currency used to directly purchase players in Transfer Market and complete SBC.
When using FC 27 coins to directly acquire players in Transfer Market, squad upgrades are generally more controllable and predictable; in contrast, opening packs with equivalent Points is highly random, with a very low probability of drawing a specific player. Understanding this helps us remain rational before spending and avoid impulsive overspending.

How to Spend Your 2000 FC Points Each Month?

Month 0 (Early Access)

Ultimate Plus edition offers 7 days of early access. Points are automatically awarded upon your first login to FC 27. However, don't rush to open packs at this time - the market is not yet stable during Early Access, and player prices are at their peak.

You can use these 7 days to familiarize yourself with the game mechanics, complete objectives, and accumulate coins, but be sure to save your 2000 Points for the first promo event after the official launch.

Month 1 (September 25th official launch - October)

By this time, you will have your initial 2000 Points. The game officially launches, and the first major promo event is coming soon.

During the promo, the store usually offers more attractive limited-time packs. Compared to regular periods, packs like Ultimate Packs, which contain high-rated players or special bonus cards, have a higher overall expected value.

If Player Picks appear, prioritize them. Compared to completely random packs, Player Picks offer some choice, reducing the uncertainty of the outcome and making it easier to convert your limited Points into the team upgrades you actually need.

If the first promo packs aren't worthwhile, we can also consider Drafts. A single entry to a Draft costs 300 FC Points or 15,000 Coins. For players with strong micro-management and team-building skills, Draft offers a higher return on investment than directly opening packs.

Month 2 (November)

After receiving the second 2,000 Points, FUT 27 will enter its first major market peak of the year - Black Friday promo.

November promo is typically one of the most content-rich and rewarding periods of the year. Therefore, don't rush to spend all your Points at the beginning of November; save your budget for more valuable packs, Player Picks, or limited-time content during Black Friday.

If a particularly worthwhile SBC appears this month, and you happen to lack fodder, consider using Points to open a pack to specifically acquire high-rated materials.

If you have a player you really like, and a suitable paid Evolution path for them appears, consider using a few hundred Points to unlock Evolution slot. However, this assumes you intend to use this player long-term.

If none of the above applies, save your Points for Black Friday or even the following month.

Month 3 (December)

After the third 2000 Points arrive, your total Points are expected to reach 4000 (depending on usage in the previous two months).

December is typically the month with the most promos from Ultimate Team throughout the year. Following Black Friday, winter-themed events like Winter Wildcards launch, along with limited-time packs, Guaranteed Player Packs, and various special promotions.

However, even during this period, it's not recommended to spend all your Points at once. Refer to community analyses of the cost-effectiveness of different packs beforehand, prioritizing packs with higher returns, while reserving some budget for potentially better content in the following weeks. It's also advisable to keep at least 1000 Points as a contingency budget.

Month 4 (January of the following year)

After the fourth 2000 Points arrive in January, this is also one of the most noteworthy periods for Ultimate Team. Team of the Year (TOTY) in FC series typically launch in mid-to-late January, releasing players for different positions in stages. Therefore, this period is ideal for selectively spending Points based on TOTY content.

It's worth noting that TOTY sees the highest number of pack purchases, leading to a large market supply and potentially lower player prices. Therefore, if your goal is a specific player, it's recommended to acquire them directly in the transfer market using coins.

If you prioritize SBC fodder and overall returns, you can use Points to participate in high-value packs and promotions during TOTY. Simultaneously, TOTY-related SBC, Objectives, and Evolutions often increase, making them worth prioritizing.

Month 5 (February of the following year)

After receiving your fifth and final 2000 Points, you will have accumulated a total of 10,000 Points. By this stage, your team usually has a solid foundation, making these Points more suitable for strengthening your squad rather than simply spending them.

If high-value packs, SBCs, or limited-time promos are available soon, you can selectively invest based on your team's needs. If there's no particularly worthwhile content to participate in at the moment, you can continue to hold onto your points and wait for more suitable opportunities later. Especially, don't rush to spend all your points just because this is your last batch. New large promos and high-value content will be released after February, and patiently waiting is often more cost-effective than blindly opening packs.

The true value of 10,000 FC Points lies not in how many packs you open in a short period, but in whether you can use them at the most appropriate time and on the right content - prioritize accumulating coins and building a strong roster during the initial development phase, and remain patient during promos, flexibly adjusting your strategies based on pack content, SBC needs, and your team's actual situation.
FC 27 Career Mode Overhauls Transfers, But Does It Finally Feel Like A Real Transfer Window?

If previous generations of FC Career Mode transfers often revolved around a series of numbers, FC 27 clearly aims to make it feel more like a real transfer window.

Based on the currently released closed beta gameplay footage, the changes go far beyond just the addition of installments, buybacks, and bonuses.

A player's willingness to come, the club's response time, how offers are returned, whether the contract will see a pay rise, even how AI teams spend money and how the deadline day progresses - all these factors now influence whether a deal will go through.

Of course, this information is currently based on FC 27 closed beta. Before the official release, the specific amounts, waiting times, and AI behavior are still subject to adjustment.

Player Interest

In FC 27, after finding a player you want, you can no longer simply make an offer based on their ability rating and potential.

A complete evaluation of a player now takes time. In Beta, a complete scouting report on a target player takes 7 days. Once the report is complete, besides ability, playstyles, salary, and market valuation, it will also directly show the player's interest in joining your club.

This change allows you to determine whether a deal is worth prioritizing before formally entering negotiations.

This provides Career Mode with a more practical way of judging targets: players who are more interested in joining are obviously better targets for initial discussions, rather than just prioritizing based on Overall and Potential.

More importantly, time is now also considered a cost. In future transfer windows, the real planning will not only involve budget but also how long you are willing to wait for a target.

More Transfer Clauses

FC 27 now allows you to negotiate more than just a final transfer fee; clubs can include significantly more conditions in the deal.

Currently, Beta includes loan-back deals, buyback clauses, and first refusal clauses.

Loan-back allows newly signed players to remain with their original clubs; buyback clauses gives the seller the option to buy back the player at a pre-agreed price in the future; first refusal means that the original club has priority to match offers from other teams in the future.

Of these, loan-back is probably the most practical. For example, you sign an 18-year-old player early, but can't provide them with consistent playing time in the first year.

Instead of bringing them back to sit on the bench for a long time, it's better to loan them back and let them continue playing for their original team for another year.

This way, locking in potential players early in Career Mode avoids the conflict between regretting not signing them and not having a place in the squad after bringing them in, making it much more natural for top clubs to stockpile young players.

Installments

If I could only choose one new transfer feature in FC 27 worth exploring, I'd say it's Installments. It allows you to allocate your current transfer budget to more positions and push some transfer fees to the next few years.

Installments is especially useful if you're in a phase where you need to fill two or three positions at once. Conversely, if the squad is already relatively complete, lacking only one key player, there's no need to force a high percentage of installments just to appear to have a larger budget. The money you save now will become fixed expenses later.

If you stubbornly insist on doing this for several consecutive transfer windows, you're likely to find that a large portion of your new season's budget has already been deducted from transfer fees from previous years just as it arrives.

Bonuses

Besides installments, bonuses are also a very useful tool in FC 27 for controlling the current budget.

In Beta, transfers can include conditions such as appearances, goals, assists, clean sheets, individual awards, and team championships.

Therefore, if the current budget is tight, it's advisable to allocate a portion of the funds to these subsequent conditions, especially for smaller teams that also need to fill other positions. This is much more flexible than paying the entire transfer fee at once.

However, before adding bonus clauses, it's best to assess the likelihood of these conditions actually being triggered.

If a team already has championship-contending potential and includes high-value championship bonuses in several transfers, it might save on budget in the short term. However, once the season's performance materializes, these costs could accumulate all at once.

Negotiation Waiting Time

In FC 27, submitting an offer doesn't guarantee an immediate response.

This change directly alters transfer strategies: it's best not to invest all your time in a single target. Especially towards the end of the transfer window, a more prudent approach is to prepare several targets (A, B, and C) in advance and pursue them simultaneously.

If the primary target rejects the offer a few days later, and you only start contacting replacements then, there might not be enough time to complete the entire transfer.

Therefore, in FC 27 transfer window, besides budget, negotiation time itself becomes a resource that needs to be managed.

Salary Clauses

In FC 27 contract negotiations, besides agent fees, signing fees, and performance bonuses, salaries can also be linked to team goals. For example, players can receive a raise if certain team goals are achieved, or take a pay cut if they aren't.

These clauses seem flexible, but the real concern is their potential for collective triggering. If several key players are eligible for salary increases because of Champions League qualification or winning a title, and the team's performance suddenly improves, the following year's wage bill could rise sharply.
