If you only follow the update announcements on ARC Raiders' official website, you might sometimes miss some details, as fixes for minor issues aren't always listed there.
Following Patch 1.18.0, which fixed several bugs related to core gameplay, the game released an emergency hotfix on March 5th, primarily for further server maintenance and resolving Discord privacy issues.
While the content is limited, these two issues significantly impact your gaming experience and personal rights. If you're unfamiliar with the details, we'll explain below.

Server maintenance issue
For any online game, server stability is fundamental to ensuring a smooth gaming experience for players. Therefore, frequent server problems can easily lead to a short-term player exodus.
Unfortunately, since its launch, ARC Raiders servers have frequently been extremely unstable, meaning you might encounter issues such as lag or disconnections during raids at any time.
For loot-driven shoot-and-run games like ARC Raiders, any bug that causes you to lose your loot is unforgivable! Imagine how frustrating it would be to lose your hard-earned ARC Raiders blueprints due to a bug!
However, fixing this kind of bug is an ongoing process, unlike the previous Safe Pocket bug, which provided an immediate update on whether it was fixed. Therefore, to continue playing ARC Raiders for the foreseeable future, you'll need a strong heart.
It's worth noting that Marathon, considered a strong new competitor to ARC Raiders, launched on March 5th, leading some players to jokingly speculate that the server instability might be a result of Marathon's conspiracy against ARC Raiders.
Marathon brings competitive pressure
Based on the current gameplay experience, Marathon's advantage over ARC Raiders lies primarily in its PvE combat. Both games combine PvE and PvP gameplay, but ARC Raiders' problem lies in the limited range of its ARC enemies.
Marathon's UESC enemies break more restrictions, such as allowing more types of enemies to enter indoor areas - they can even integrate with the buildings themselves! This also allows for more interference in PvP battles, increasing the difficulty of winning.
This makes both PvE battles more interesting and PvP battles more diverse. While casual players might prefer ARC Raiders, every game aims to attract a different type of player.
However, Marathon is a new game, and players will inevitably be eager to try it out, while ARC Raiders, having been online for about six months, will be more mature in all aspects. Therefore, it's too early to say which will be more popular.
Discord privacy issue
If you choose to team up with friends in raids, timely voice communication is crucial. While ARC Raiders has a built-in voice chat system, it's more convenient for communication between strangers. For more private team chats, Discord is a better choice.
Given Discord's popularity, you can directly link your Discord account to ARC Raiders for easier text or voice communication using this third-party platform.
However, ARC Raiders has recently encountered a serious privacy breach: the game records your Discord messages with other players in plaintext.
More specifically, messages sent between two players are captured by ARC Raiders Discord SDK and logged in plaintext log files on your local computer, without any prior notification or option from either the game or Discord.
Although the developers claim this data is not reviewed or retained, and is not sent outside your computer, it still easily leads to player panic and distrust. Fortunately, after a hotfix, Discord logs are no longer generated.
In fact, this is not entirely an issue with ARC Raiders; Discord should also bear responsibility. Apps primarily focused on chat functionality are prone to privacy breaches, and even a slight oversight can lead to serious consequences.
Why are there so many bugs lately?
Following the release of Shrouded Sky, ARC Raiders quickly faced the end of Expedition 2 and the start of Expedition 3. The frequent updates and maintenance mean more changes and fluctuations, so game instability is to be expected.
In fact, since its launch, ARC Raiders has been plagued by various bugs. Previous cheat vulnerabilities caused chaos and dissatisfaction within the game community, forcing the developers to eventually address them.
Games with shooting combat elements at their core have always been prone to bugs and cheating, as settings or mechanics can be altered using third-party software or plugins to gain more kills or loot.
Therefore, some believe that the recent server instability on ARC Raiders may be a result of retaliation from some cheaters, as they can no longer easily ambush others using glitches like wall hacks.
Server maintenance primarily depends on the development team's technical capabilities, but regarding cheating, there are already some relatively mature anti-cheat systems on the market, such as Ricochet Anti-Cheat used in Black Ops 7.
It is expected that after March 2026, in addition to Marathon, more similar games will be launched to compete with ARC Raiders. This means greater pressure for ARC Raiders, but for players, having more games to try is not a bad thing.
The above is our analysis of the recent performance of ARC Raiders based on Hotfix 1.000.027. We hope it will be helpful for your gameplay!
