ARC Raiders First-Person Bug | The Hidden Command Players Used for a New Shooter Experience

Almost all shooting games can be categorized into two types based on the player's perspective: first-person and third-person. While each has its advantages and disadvantages, first-person perspective is indeed more exciting in certain situations.
As a retreat-style shooter that was released at the end of 2025, ARC Raiders uses a third-person perspective, perhaps to facilitate the timely discovery of hidden enemies in PvPvE game environments.
Interestingly, recently some players discovered that by giving special commands through the developer tools, they can realize their dream of experiencing a first-person perspective in ARC Raiders!
So how does this command-based bug actually feel? Is its appearance good or bad? We will bring you relevant analysis.

How did this bug appear?
Unlike the recently controversial door or wall exploits, the unexpected first-person perspective is not caused by a problem with the game itself, but rather by a player who somehow discovered a way to access the developer tools, which allows modification of some settings.
Afterwards, some players used this method to figure out how to modify the first-person perspective settings and shared it on ARC Raiders forums and groups. Although the actual experience was very rough, it still caused a sensation in the community.
However, this was ultimately a bug, so the developers released a hotfix in time before more and more players joined in, disabling future commands. Therefore, recreating the first-person perspective now is probably very difficult.
What's the first-person experience like?
Since this was just a half-finished product created by players exploiting a loophole, if you try to replicate this bug in the game according to the instructions, you'll find that you actually have many problems, especially severe clipping, making some scenes look comical.
However, it must be said that in first-person perspective, ARC Raiders' excellent scenery and enemy design do indeed bring out a more exciting and terrifying effect, allowing you to experience a unique post-apocalyptic atmosphere outside of combat.
In terms of PvP combat experience, the limitations of the first-person perspective obviously mean that your field of view will be very narrow, making it difficult to see corners and significantly reducing your sensitivity to your surroundings.
But honestly, this limitation is precisely the charm of the first-person perspective. Some players even believe that if ARC Raiders implemented this gameplay in its PvP mode, player time would generally increase.
Third-person perspective is indispensable
While the clunky, buggy experience didn't dampen players' enthusiasm for ARC Raiders' first-person perspective. However, overall, the third-person perspective is currently the best fit for the game.
Firstly, the game itself was released as a third-person shooter, and for that reason, it achieved tremendous success (let's temporarily ignore the controversies and bugs).
Furthermore, because of the third-person perspective, you can not only see your own skins and appreciate all the beautiful animations, but the wider field of view also makes the game easier to pick up and play, and is more friendly to players prone to 3D sickness.
In fact, during the early development and design of ARC Raiders, the team likely considered whether to use a first-person or third-person perspective, but ultimately they chose the latter - a choice based on a more comprehensive consideration.
For example, in a past interview, the design director of ARC Raiders briefly mentioned a first-person perspective mode. He stated that many aspects of the game require a third-person perspective to be fully appreciated.
While many shooters currently use a hybrid perspective to offer more options, for ARC Raiders, this necessitates a reassessment of scene construction and layout, as the field of view becomes severely limited in first-person mode.
Furthermore, the developers have acknowledged technical limitations. Enabling first-person mode requires upgrades to the game's geometry and resource quality, as visual issues arise when observing models up close - a phenomenon observed in bug reports.
Will the game eventually introduce a first-person mode?
Technically, the current limitations and difficulties of a first-person mode should be overcome, but how long ARC Raiders' popularity will last remains uncertain.
Alternatively, the development team might capitalize on the popularity of this bug and release a dedicated PvE or PvP first-person mode later. However, for ARC Raiders, the immediate priority remains fixing various bugs and implementing anti-cheat measures.
What negative consequences does this bug imply?
If you're simply using this bug to experience first-person mode in ARC Raiders, it doesn't necessarily constitute cheating, as the limited field of view means you won't gain any significant advantage over others.
The real negative consequence of this bug is that players can intervene in the game at the command level, and almost everyone who does gets the desired result.
In fact, some players have used this bug to remove all shadows and dark areas in the game, including fog and rain. This allows you to see everyone, giving you a huge advantage in PvP. This is clearly cheating.
Therefore, while some players are enthusiastic about playing first-person mode, others suspect that the development team hasn't implemented truly effective measures to prevent bugs and cheating, resulting in a very poor gaming environment in recent months.
Summary
No matter how popular the first-person mode made possible by the bug may be, it is fundamentally a bug that must be fixed. The development team and responsible players should recognize the underlying issues and not promote them.
Of course, if you have the opportunity to try it out secretly, it's harmless. However, for a fairer ARC Raiders combat experience, exploiting bugs or vulnerabilities for an unfair advantage should always be discouraged on public social media platforms.
