Skull and Bones Year 3 Season 1 Shattered Seas: Large Ship The Galleon, Seasonal Mastery Tree and more new content
As a unique action-adventure game focused specifically on naval combat, Skull and Bones, launched in 2024, operates on a seasonal update cycle spanning each year. Consequently, 2026 marks the game's third year of live service.
Building upon this structure, immediately following the conclusion of Year 2 Season 4 on May 12th of this year, Skull and Bones embarked on its Year 3 journey, kicking things off with the first season of the year, titled Shattered Seas.
Below, we will introduce the new content arriving in Year 3 Season 1, as well as the strategic significance that Year 3 holds for Skull and Bones.

Year 3 Season 1 overview
This season centers its focus on the Indian Ocean region and introduces the game's third large ship, The Galleon. More importantly, it finally debuts Seasonal Mastery Tree, a feature designed to facilitate character progression and growth.
In addition to these core additions, the update brings a host of new features and items, updates to existing mechanics (such as World Tiers), and offers you the chance to experience returning events you may have missed in the past!
All Year 3 Season 1 updates are summarized as follows:
- Seasonal Mastery Tree and related Perks
- New Large Ship: The Galleon
- Two New World Tiers
- Mythic Ascension and Mythic Reforge
- New and Returning Events
- New Gear
What are Seasonal Mastery Tree and Perk?
If you are a frequent player of RPGs, you are likely familiar with various skill trees. Now, Skull and Bones finally welcomes Mastery Tree of its very own!
This system features over 500 unlockable nodes. You can advance your Mastery Tree level by earning Infamy points, the game's progression currency, through the completion of contracts at Sainte-Anne or by tackling other in-game challenges.
For every level you gain, you earn a single point, which can then be used to unlock specific Mastery nodes of your choice.
Different nodes offer distinct effects and bonuses, allowing you to experiment with various builds to create a richer, more dynamic combat experience.
Furthermore, as you progress through Seasonal Mastery Tree, reaching levels 10, 30, and 60, you will unlock corresponding Seasonal Perks, which serve as powerful additional passive bonuses.
The currently revealed perks and their effects are as follows:
- Reactive Bulwark: If you enter Bracing state, an explosion will trigger 3 seconds later, dealing damage equal to 1000% of your current armor value to any targets located within a 250-meter radius of your ship.
- Deadly Medicine: Converts 100% of the healing you generate into stored bonus damage, which is then applied to your next attack. You can store a maximum of 100,000 points.
It is worth noting that, as the names of these mechanics suggest, they are seasonal; therefore, all configurations and progress will be reset once Year 3 Season 1 concludes.
It is also worth noting that while you do earn Silver during the process of farming Infamy, the amount is typically insufficient to allow you to trade for the rarer weapons or cosmetics.
For this reason, we generally recommend choosing Skull and Bones Silver for sale on IGGM. This allows you to quickly replenish your currency reserves and enter the higher World Tiers with greater confidence!
World Tiers 3&4
World Tiers serve as the difficulty levels within Skull and Bones; you can advance through these tiers by completing the specific requirements associated with each level. Higher World Tiers mean you can challenge tougher enemies and earn greater rewards.
The two previously existing tiers were Shallow Waters and Cutthroat Seas. Now, Year 3 Season 1 introduces two new World Tiers: Rogue Storms and Brutal Tempest.
These tiers apply the following buffs to enemies:
- Rogue Storms: Grants enemies a chance to spawn with three random buff affixes.
- Brutal Tempest: Grants enemies a chance to spawn with five random affixes, featuring even stronger buff effects, and also includes an exclusive Mythic World Event mode.
Mythic Ascension and Reforge
These two new features focus on gear enhancement. First, Mythic Ascension allows you to upgrade your weapons and armor beyond their standard power limits by acquiring Mythic Modifications.
As for Mythic Reforge, it builds upon this foundation by allowing you to further re-roll or strengthen your Mythic Modifications, tailoring them to better suit the specific requirements of your gear and build.
To successfully utilize these two features, you must first unlock World Tiers 3&4. You will then need to farm Nightshade Pearls, a newly introduced, exclusive resource, and use them to craft upgrades at Blacksmith.
New Large Ship The Galleon
Given the naval combat-centric gameplay of Skull and Bones, your ship, and particularly large options, serves as the fundamental platform for all your combat operations.
The defining characteristic of The Galleon, introduced in this update, is its abundance of broadside cannon emplacements. This grants it exceptional damage output capabilities, making it particularly well-suited for close-quarters combat.
In addition to its core combat capabilities, The Galleon features the basic perk Iron Thunder and the advanced perk Red Wake, which further enhance the ship's damage output and speed.
New Faction War Event
Faction War is an endgame activity in Skull & Bones; with the launch of Y3S1, a new Faction War event Safeguard has gone live.
However, from a gameplay perspective, Safeguard does not differ significantly from previous events. Your objective remains the same: defend your position while repelling enemy forces and seizing additional War Assets.
Other new activities
The returning limited-time events, The Honorless and Moonshine Larceny, will launch on May 12 and June 30, respectively (the former concludes on June 9); participating in these events allows you to earn brand-new rewards.
Furthermore, Season 1 will introduce a new limited-time ship campaign, The Barque, mid-season. Completing the entire reward track for this campaign will unlock the ship deed for this ship.
More Year 3 plans
Beyond the content introduced in Season 1, Skull & Bones is expected to roll out even more features and events throughout the coming year, including the following confirmed new additions:
- New Large Ships: The Junk and The Fluyt
- Abyssal Depths Challenge and new elite bosses
- New Trials Feature
In summary, Year 3 Season 1 update is quite substantial in scope, offering plenty of content to keep you engaged for a long time. To ensure you don't fall behind, set sail and begin your conquest of the Indian Ocean today!
