Unlike traditional barter, trading up emphasizes tiered value enhancement. For example, you can first exchange 40 Perfect Gems for one Ist Rune, then exchange several Ist Runes for an Ohm Rune, and finally use Ohm Runes plus other runes to exchange for Ber Rune you want most.

You can trade in-game by creating rooms, joining channels, and adding friends. If you have limited time, utilizing the player community is more efficient than simply creating rooms within the game.

The whole process is like constantly exchanging small change for larger denomination bills until you've saved enough to buy a big house, much like the previous Enigma Armor Runeword.

Why trade up?

Diablo 2 Resurrected Season 14's drop system is extremely reliant on luck.

Take the top-tier rune Ber Rune as an example. In Hell difficulty level 85 areas, the probability of it dropping from a random monster is approximately 1 in 2 million. Even farming Secret Cow Levels requires thousands or even tens of thousands of kills on average to see a high-level rune.

Abyss-related skills are maxed, and 20 points are invested in Demonic Mastery to summon Defilers. Consume mechanic is employed to sacrifice one demon for amplified magic damage, while the remaining two autonomously blanket the area with persistent area damage.

Abyss Warlock can now cast Miasma Chain consecutively, dealing roughly 10,000 damage per second. Occasional hiccups occur when terrain obstructs casting line-of-sight, but the innate crowd-gathering and control effects of Abyss skills keep monsters locked in hit recovery animations almost indefinitely.
