To the northwest of Florida Keys lies Gulf of Mexico, while to the southeast lies Atlantic Ocean. These two bodies of water differ vastly in terms of water temperature, currents, depth, and ecosystems. The geographical landscape of Florida Keys exhibits breathtaking diversity.

If GTA 6 successfully replicates this unique ecosystem within its in-game waters, it will boast the most realistic and vibrant ocean environment in gaming history. IGGM will provide you with a detailed breakdown of everything we currently know regarding GTA 6's marine system, which draws its inspiration from Florida Keys.

Abundant Species

Florida is home to the only living coral reef system in the continental United States. Stretching approximately 360 miles, this reef constitutes one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on Earth, nurturing an incredibly rich array of marine life. The waters surrounding Florida Keys are inhabited by roughly 6,000 different marine species.

GTA 6 development studio has, in fact, already offered us a glimpse of some of these details: in an officially released screenshot of the ocean floor, sea turtles, moray eels, and schools of reef fish are clearly visible amidst the coral reefs right next to a diver.

But this is far from all; by analyzing every GTA 6 screenshot and trailer clip currently available, we can identify at least 28 separate sightings of sharks, dolphins, manatees, or sea turtles. It appears that the marine world within GTA 6 will be truly teeming with life and vitality.

Florida's waters are home to a wider variety of shark species than almost any other place in the world. In GTA 6 trailer, we catch glimpses of sharks lurking beneath the surface or prowling the waters right off the beach - as if lying in wait for some hapless soul to stray too far from shore. We also spotted barracudas, fierce predators known for their highly territorial nature within coral reef zones. We even caught sight of American crocodiles.

Beyond these more dangerous creatures, the environment is also teeming with gentle or playful wildlife. Take dolphins, for instance; in Florida, they are such a ubiquitous sight that locals have long since grown accustomed to their presence. Then there are manatees, which typically glide leisurely through warm, shallow waterways. Notably, manatees are a protected species in Florida, a fact that immediately brings to mind the potential for a poaching system within GTA 6.

Moreover, these restrictions likely won't stop at manatees. Florida boasts a comprehensive framework of marine conservation laws, extending protection to sea turtles, specific shark species, and - naturally certain heavily regulated fishing practices. It would be entirely logical for GTA 6 to incorporate a simplified version of these real-world regulations into the game.

NPCs

Florida is also renowned for its unique populace, colloquially known as Florida Man. You can expect to encounter a colorful cast of characters among NPCs in this setting. Florida's beach culture presents two distinct facets, both of which are poised to be vividly brought to life in GTA 6.

If you've ever vacationed in Florida, you know that its beaches are frequented by two very different types of people. The first group consists of the locals - individuals who have spent so much time baking under the scorching sun that their skin has become as tough and weathered as a pair of cracked leather cowboy boots. 

The second group comprises the quintessential tourists - typically families hailing from American Midwest - who are slathered head-to-toe in SPF 100 sunscreen and spend their entire time snapping photos of absolutely everything around them. On the beaches of Florida and in the surrounding areas, both demographics are present in extremely large numbers.

From the perspective of gameplay and immersion, Grand Theft Auto 6 appears to introduce a system for tanning and sunburns. If you look closely at the character featured in the opening shot of the second trailer, you will notice distinct signs of sunburn on his skin. Furthermore, his body is glistening with sweat.

When these variable details are combined with GTA 6's evidently vast and diverse library of NPC design assets, repetitive NPC models will become a thing of the past. Every passerby on the beach is poised to look unique, blending seamlessly and naturally into their surroundings without a hint of incongruity.

Additionally, we have confirmed the existence of a specialized beach law enforcement unit, Vice Beach Police Department, and leaked GTA 6 footage has indeed showcased officers clad in beach-specific uniforms. Furthermore, the presence of lifeguard towers along the beach suggests that lifeguards will be on duty within the game. 

Whether these lifeguards will actively interact with drowning swimmers, or sound an alarm upon spotting sharks in the water, remains to be confirmed; however, we can at least be certain that they will indeed be present in the beach environments.

Both screenshots from GTA 6 trailers and actual gameplay footage reveal a spectacular and realistic recreation of South Florida's iconic yacht party scene. You can observe large-scale private yacht parties taking place on the water, alongside clusters of smaller boats where people are reveling in the sunshine, music, and good times.

We will probably have opportunities to interact with these vessels; perhaps you could pull your boat alongside, drop anchor, turn on the radio, and start grooving to the music while chatting with the people on board - or, of course, you could hop onto their boats and rob the occupants. New Water-Based Activities

The aquatic environments in GTA 6 promise to introduce a host of new water-based activities - both entertaining and dynamic - the likes of which we have never before experienced in any video game. Regarding these aquatic gameplay elements, GTA 6 can both effortlessly expand upon and deepen the foundations laid by its predecessors, while also seizing this installment as a chance to introduce entirely new mechanics and content for the very first time.

Boats

Based on current information, the aquatic vehicle system showcased in GTA 6 appears to be richer and more extensive than in any previous title in the series. By piecing together scattered clues gleaned from trailers, screenshots, and official promotional materials, we have already been able to identify and confirm a remarkably diverse array of watercraft.

This roster includes classics such as center-console boats, speedboats, cigar boats, yachts, hovercraft, jet skis, and kayaks - along with numerous other vessel types that have also been confirmed. It is worth noting that previous GTA titles typically featured only a dozen different boat models; yet, judging solely by what GTA 6 has revealed to us thus far, the variety of watercraft on display already far exceeds that figure.

This massive expansion is inextricably linked to GTA 6's setting: Florida. Florida's boating culture is truly unique, not only within United States but on a global scale, and the state is frequently hailed as Boating Capital of the World. Clearly, GTA 6 has invested a great deal of effort into capturing this aspect of the setting. Furthermore, South Florida boasts one of the world's most authentic and storied traditions of offshore racing; consequently, the opportunity to witness - or even personally participate in - these grand racing events promises to be an incredibly entertaining experience.

Building upon this foundation, it would be even more exciting if GTA 6 were to completely overhaul its vehicle customization mechanics. I would particularly love the ability to get a luxury yacht and customize its interior layout and features to my heart's content, thereby truly immersing myself in the pleasures of life on the water.

Fishing

Fishing is clearly poised to be a core activity in GTA 6. We have already confirmed that players will fish using a rod and reel. You can look forward to experiencing leisurely pier fishing, angling amidst offshore reefs, crabbing, spearfishing, and even the more thrilling pursuit of deep-sea blue water fishing - chasing after marlin, sailfish, and Mahi-mahi along the currents of Gulf Stream. 

Each method of fishing corresponds to specific fish species, distinct equipment setups, unique locations, and specialized techniques. While I cannot guarantee that GTA 6 will encompass every major type of fishing activity, its fishing system absolutely must be more comprehensive and in-depth than the one found in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Marina Economy System

Personally, what I look forward to most is for GTA 6 to introduce a fully realized marina economy system. You could dock your boat at a marina to unload and sell your catch; get new fishing rods, reels, bait, and tackle; and perhaps even hire a captain to take you out fishing - or simply captain the vessel yourself, running your own deep-sea fishing charter business.

Furthermore, from the perspective of property ownership, a marina is clearly an excellent candidate. For instance, renting a single slip could serve a dual purpose: providing a berth for your boat while also acting as a Safehouse situated right on the water. If you could get an entire marina, the functionality would be even richer: it could offer multiple docking slips while simultaneously serving as a front for smuggling operations and a staging ground for missions.

The underlying infrastructure for this type of asset management system has, in fact, already been established in GTA Online. The leaked GTA 6 footage did indeed mention a tackle shop facility; however, from what I understand, it appears to be inextricably linked to certain gang factions or criminal enterprises.

Scuba Diving

Scuba diving was one of the very first side activities officially revealed for GTA 6. The developers showcased sea turtles, moray eels, reef fish, and several divers engaged in scuba diving. In previous GTA titles, diving was essentially nothing more than swimming in deep water while wearing flippers and carrying an oxygen tank.

What I truly hope to see, however, is an experience with genuine mechanical depth, incorporating elements such as oxygen tank management, realistic depth limits when diving without vehicle assistance, and underwater visibility that dynamically changes as you descend deeper. In short, I hope GTA 6 elevates scuba diving beyond being a mere cosmetic gimmick, transforming it into an immersive experience replete with authentic risks and rich gameplay mechanics. 

Snorkeling over shallow coral reefs and conducting professional deep-sea dives alongside a shipwreck at a depth of 60 feet should, in terms of gameplay experience, feel - and rightfully so - completely distinct. Atmosphere is paramount; if every underwater encounter begins to feel overly uniform, GTA 6 runs the risk of repeating the mistakes of GTA 5's marine design - becoming tedious, lifeless, and devoid of character.

GTA 6's ocean is clearly no longer merely a static blue texture to be gazed upon from afar. Instead, it resembles an ambitious sandbox that infuses the very soul of Florida's waters into a virtual realm. What likely awaits us is a multi-layered, interconnected stage - spanning everything from the water's surface to the deepest depths, and ranging from leisurely fishing trips to illicit smuggling operations.

The studio behind GTA 6 did not open pre-orders on May 18, as many players had hoped, and its parent company's stock took a noticeable hit. That is a headache for shareholders, though - right now, players are simply waiting for any scrap of news about the third trailer.

Almost the whole of May has been thick with impatient anticipation for that third trailer, yet players still have received nothing concrete - only unconfirmed leaks. The latest leak concerns the music for GTA 6 trailer 3.

Trailer 3 Music leak

By now, the third GTA 6 trailer has been missing for about ten days. Over that period, speculation has repeatedly pointed to one date after another, each time coming to nothing. Recently, however, a new leak surfaced.

At its heart is the claim that the trailer will feature "Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)" by The Rolling Stones. The information comes from a Reddit user who is not a GTA or gaming enthusiast, but someone with ties to the music industry.

A common way to judge the credibility of such rumors is to check whether the poster used a throwaway account to avoid harming their main profile. This particular user has been active for nearly a decade, has amassed over one million post karma and close to 400,000 comment karma, and displays numerous trophies in their case - all signs that this is their main account, not a burner.

What Is Its Connection to GTA 6?

The Song

The lyrics tell two stories: one about a boy mistakenly shot in the heart by New York City police, and another about a 10-year-old girl who dies in an alley from an overdose.

The song obviously does not line up perfectly with GTA 6 plot, but its themes strike a similar chord. Both tales center on a man and a woman, each marked by intense struggle and tragedy. The setting is New York City, which in GTA universe corresponds to Liberty City.

Liberty City

On the studio's official website, Lucia is described as yearning for the good life her mother had been dreaming of ever since their days in Liberty City. She is not one to get lost in fantasy; instead, she is ready to take control of her own destiny. That the developers chose to explicitly lay out Lucia's backstory suggests it is likely an important narrative thread.

Moreover, Liberty City license plates appeared in the second trailer, and a screenshot shows a man wearing a "Liberty City Cycles" cap. All of this indicates that Liberty City will be heavily referenced in GTA 6 and could even play a key role in the story - perhaps as a prologue setting, or by allowing players to travel between Vice City and Liberty City.

Trailer Content

Looking at the studio's trailer release habits, both GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 used their third trailers to focus on character introductions, giving players a better understanding of the two leads' identities and backgrounds.

GTA 6's protagonists, Jason and Lucia, are a couple - a significant departure from the bachelors of past titles. Their relationship may well sit at the heart of the story, and the third trailer will likely shed light on their romantic history. The chorus of "Heartbreaker" perhaps hints that their bond is not always harmonious; we might even see arguments or betrayal unfold in the trailer.

When Will The Trailer 3 Arrive?

So we inevitably circle back to that question: when will the trailer drop? Rather than hoping it arrives unannounced today or on some random day soon, it makes more sense to look at when the studio is likely to make major moves.

Summer Marketing

First and foremost is the summer marketing push. The studio has previously made it clear that summer will be the main window for GTA 6's marketing. We are not yet in summer, so it is hardly a surprise that the big bets placed on this week - for the third trailer, pre-orders, the cover reveal, and everything else - ultimately did not materialise.

CEO of the parent company, Strauss Zelnick, recently reaffirmed that November 19 remains the target date and that the project is on track. He will very likely repeat that message during the upcoming earnings call. This means June, July, and August will be packed with promotional and marketing activity.

Other GTA 6 details

Although the large-scale marketing blitz will not begin until summer, that does not mean there will be complete silence before then. The earnings call later this week could reveal a more precise marketing timeline, mention the pre-order window, or give a rough outline of the next trailer's schedule.

Furthermore, even before summer officially starts, the studio could release the full cover art, unveil details about different editions and the date pre-orders go live, then follow up with the third trailer, and cap everything off by opening pre-orders.

Another date worth keeping an eye on is May 26 - originally floated as a possible release date for GTA 6. The studio might also choose this day to release something to calm the fanbase.

The game's official launch is still roughly six months away. Until the summer marketing period truly arrives, we must remain patient.

GTA Online is also set to receive a major update in the summer - possibly its last big one - which could include content tied to GTA 6.
